year-old daughter caylee inside of her car. now this evidence reportedly includes the reported smell of human decomposition and also hairs according to officials that were found in the trunk of casey anthony's car. on saturday an fbi analyst testified that that hair was similar to little caylee's. computer experts will testify. they will talk about google searches that were found such as chloroform and neck breaking. if she is found guilty, she could be sentenced to death. police are expanding the search for two gunmen that shot and killed a baby and injured his parents. tara moriarty is live. >> reporter: according to reports the mother and father raced away to the hospital with the dying infant inside of their car. they were speed sog the police

pulled them over. when an officer approached the car they noticed the father was holding his abdomen screaming his baby had been shot. last night about 50 people from the community held a vigil where the shooting happened. the community is really rallying together after hearing that this family of four from redwood city was leaving a baby shower around 1:00 in the morning sunday when two gunmen approached their car and just started shooting. a bullet struck the baby in the head. his three-year-old brother was not harmed. the suspects ran away. neighbors say they are stunned. >> it's just a regular get together. had kids playing ball in the back. and just you know to go from that and hear everything that has happened you are just like in complete shock. >> reporter: now the mother took a bullet trying to shield her children. both she and the father are still in serious condition. now here's a look at sketches

that police have released of the suspect. they are described as young latino men wearing dark clothing. one gunman is 5'9" he is thin and has brown eyes and medium complexion. the other is in his early 20s. about the same heighth. police are offering a big reward for any information in this case. $25,000. live in east palo alto i'm tara moriarty. time now 6:03 and right now one person is in the hospital very serious injuries after a bicycle crash in center lane san francisco. i want to show you the street view of where this happened. you're look agent the intersection of pacheco and dewey. that is when police say it

appears the cyclist hit the center divider. you can see the bicycle there. doesn't appear any other vehicles were involved. the cyclist was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. a human body found stuffed in a garbage bag. kraig debro is joining us to tell us what is being done to find out what is in that bag. >> reporter: it happened on the 800 block here in sunnyvale. i've been walking up and down the street to see if i can find any clues to where this happened. all i can tell you is that the coroner will conduct an autopsy. >> i received a call from a resident about a suspicious hefty bag in the front yard area. upon the officers arrival they looked into the bag and saw there was a body of a human

being. >> reporter: resident called police that morning to say there was a large garbage bag in or near the persons yard. police could only tell that a human was inside and that the person is an adult. the sex of the victim isn't even known right now. they are checking the neighboring jurisdictions to see if there is any missing persons. i did speak to one resident this morning about where this body was found. he gave me an approximate idea. i will check that out to see if it fits his description. reporting live in sunnyvale kraig debro. a funeral service is set for friday for both san francisco firefighters killed in the line of duty. anthony valerio and lieutenant vincent perez were overcome by fire and smoke in the house fire in the diamond heights area. perez died the day of the gyre.

valerio died from his injuries on saturday. a memorial is growing at fire station 26 where the fallen firefighters worked. in the lobby their helmets sit on two chairs, their jackets hanging from the back. people have sent flowers and cars. some dropping off food and leaving messages in condolence books. >> first responders took part in a mandatory briefing. firefighters say it was helpful and that they do appreciate the outpouring of support. you can find images from that deadly fire along with the very latest on the investigation on our channel 2 website. just go to ktvu.com and click on the sf firefighter tab right on the front page. time now 6:06. strong winds and the threat of

dry lightning may complicate the fire fighting effort in parts of arizona today. the wallo fire burned 177-acre. forecabins have been destroyed. no one has been hurt. more people were evacuated yesterday. >> a lot of us don't want to leave. if they tell us to go, we will have to go. >> another major wild fire to the south of there is holding steady now at 100,000 acres. water drops resume in currant county battling a wild fire that has burned 360-acres so far. they will attack the flames after the sun comes up. it started yesterday near keysville. according to the new york times president obama's national security team is considering speeding up the

pace of u.s. troop withdrawal in afghanistan following the death of osama bin laden. today robert gates is in afghanistan saying his goodbyes to u.s. troops as he prepares to retire. coming up at 6:15 we will have a live report from our washington, d.c. newsroom with what gates thinks about that plan. five american soldiers have been killed in iraq. iraqi security officials say an a rocket attack is to blame. at least three hit in baghdad this morning. the americans were staying on the base as advisors and the rockets hit near their living quarters. this is the single largest loss of life in the past two years. israeli troops are bracing for more violent against syria. they killed 20 protestors that tried to cross into israeli

controlled territory. several dozen protestors remain camped out in that border area. israel says its forces will do whatever is necessary to defend its borders. new this morning. apples annual worldwide developers conference already tracking a big crowd this morning. this is the a live picture. you look at the that line. this is outside of how's koa but the lines are already there. you can see for yourself. steve jobs is expected to introduce apples new i cloud. that is expected to make apples aye tune more powerful. it could make it tough on the rival services. steve jobs will also introduce apples next operating system. it's called lion. the keynote address begins at 10:00 a.m.. and again we are live outside there. you can see the people are already lined up and waiting. >> wow look at that.

6:09 is the time. let's check back in with sal. how is traffic, sal? >> it's doing okay. there are no long lines at the bay bridge toll plaza or anywhere else. we are looking pretty good on the east shore freeway. it's not expected to stay this way. i think we will be doing pretty goo for the next hour or so. you can see bay bridge. the morning is moving along pretty well. let's go back to steve. thank you, sir. mostly cloudy skies out there right now. there are a few breaks but there is still a lot of cloud cover hanging on. there is a lot of clouds. now we can still get a passing shower or two. but we are definitely rounding

third and heading home. now we do have mostly cloudy skies. 50-56 here in the morning house. by noon a lot of clouds. some sun. 58-66. humid with so much rain in june already. 60s and 70s. >> right tore that low. there is another system coming right down out of oregon. that will keep the pattern going even though it's a much weaker system. you can see some of that green turning to white up in the sierra. the wrap around effect goes back into the northern sacramento valley and maybe up toward mendocino county. 50s on your temps to 58 at hayward. mountain view at 57.

more than 3400 people have been out of their homes since saturday. winds are carrying ash across the andys to a resort town in argentina. face masks are being sent to the area and people are being urged to stay indoors. intellect robert gates -- robert gates is in afghanistan. as alison burns reports gates doesn't agree with the reported plan by the obama administration to speed up the pace of the u.s. troop withdrawal from afghanistan. >> reporter: dave, secretary gates choked back tears today as he tells troops he feels personally responsible for sending them to war. >> i just want you to know i think about you every day. i feel mayor hardship and sacrifice and burden and that of your families more than you

the vice president is taking over as temporary head of state but he says the president will return to power after his medical treatment. katie couric is expected to announce she will sign with abc to do an afternoon talk show. she stepped down with cbs last month. and reportedly three of the four broadcast networks as well as cnn all made offers to couric. time now 6:18. five people were hurt in three separate weekend shootings in oakland. three men were rushed to the hospital early saturday morning after a shooting in the parking lot right near webster and 13th street. one of the victims is in critical condition. and in a separate incident a 21-year-old man was shot in the back. this happened at a house party. and a 52-year-old man was found shot on 90th avenue in east oakland saturday night. two new drugs show promising results for patients that suffer from the deadliest

formover skin cancer. researchers say they can control a form of melanoma that kills 2,000 americans every year. people suffering from this disease only have a life expectancy six to nine months. federal health experts are optimistic but say more tests are still needed. people in san diego have a menacing situation. this is a wild pig. now the federal government is considering trapping the pigs or hiring professional hunters. people for the ethical treatment of animals opposes the plan. they say the government needs a humane method of removing the pigs. i don't remember wild pigs when i was growing up in san diego. that is very unusual. sal, any unusual happening around the toll plaza? >> no. which is good. we have a nice looking drive on a monday. we don't want anything unusual

on a monday. they have switched the metering lights on and pretty soon most likely by the next traffic update in a few minutes. we do it every ten minutes or so you will see a bigger backup at the toll plaza. it's beginning to back up on 880 not quite but it's getting a little more crowded here as you drive past the coliseum. if you are driving in marin county it looks pretty good. driving over to fairfield or driving from fairfield to vallejo it's a nice drive. let's go to steve. masala cloudy skies andsteps on -- mostly cloudy skies and on the mild side. it will be a mostly cloudy morning. we will go partly sunny in the afternoon. inland will still have mostly cloudy skies. there could be an isolated shower or two. another little one is dropping down. so we can't lose them yet. this next one dropping down is

good morning, right now traffic is moving along pretty nicely on highway 4. right here in bay point. however, it's already slow on sections of the commute in antioch and also going to be slow in parts of pittsburgh. 6:26 let's go back to the desk. the cause of a southwest airlines emergency landing in texas turned out to be a false alarm. a fire indicator light came on in the cabin when this plane was flying from orlando to phoenix. there was no fire. that plane landed safely. giants general manager

bryan sabean and scott cousins have made peace over the buster posey injury. >> the giants only focus is buster posey. >> last week sabean called cousins home plate hit on posey malicious use and hopes he never plays another day in the league. the two spoke by phone over the the weekend and the giants general manager apologized. cousins is a usf graduate that has received death threats over that incident. former new york giants receiver burris has served 20 months for illegally carrying a gun at aman hat tan night -- manhattan nightclub. time now 6:27. the man arrested in the beating

gunmen that shot a baby and wounding his parents. >> reporter: police are offering a big reward. $25,000. so if you have any tips you can call or text police. and the chief here at the east palo alto police department that within his 27 years on the job this crime has hit him and the community particularly hard. last night about 50 people gathered on wisteria drive where the shooting happened. a family of four from redwood city was leaving a baby shower around 1:00 in the morning sunday when two gunmen approached their car and started shooting. a bullet struck the baby in the head and killed him. the three-year-old boy was not harmed. >> we are standing today in unity from all walks of faith, from all ethnicities, all cultures coming together to let

window. firefighters were called to a hem just before 4:30 yesterday afternoon. they say the little boy was leaning against a window screen to look outside when he fell. the condition of the child is not known this morning. michelle's family wants the fbi to lead the investigation into her disappearance. the 16-year-old nursing student disappeared may 22nd. hay war police are currently immediating the -- saying that thigh have concerns because police have -- a reward in the case is $45,000. people will gather in san francisco on friday to honor two fallen firefighters. jade hernandez joins us from outside the church where a public memorial service will be

held. >> reporter: memorial orangers are still working out all of the details but it is expected that funeral services for both firefighters will be held here. thousands are expected to attend services on friday. at station 26 a memorial has been set up at the station with helmets bearing the firefighters names resting on chairs with their jackets hanging on the back their boots tucked underneath. lieutenant power residued on thursday. both did not survive injuries from thursday's fire. the support in the diamond heights district and beyond has been overwhelming. fire departments from all over the country are expected to send representatives to the funeral. firefighters attended mandatory debriefing sessions. we even spoke to a couple that live in the neighborhood and took time out to pay their

respects. >> we are just so grateful for having a group of people that are willing to put their lives on the line and risk everything for the families and people that live here in the neighborhood. >> it seemed like the right thing to do. the fact that the second firefighter had passed away. i thought it would be nice to bring something by to the station since it is a few blocks from where we live. >> reporter: lieutenant vincent perez 48 and anthony valerio 53 will have joint services on friday. neither were married or had children of their own. both came from very large extended families. the service is tentatively scheduled for 12:30. we have more on the fire and the investigation on our channel 2 website. just go to the ktvu.com site and click on the sf firefighter tab right on our front page.

this morning former pennsylvania senator rick santorum he is running for president. he's already hired a small staff and made several visits to early voting states. santorum was known as a social conservative with a strong antiabortion. there are reports that the justice department was insisting that edwards serve six months in jail if he pleaded guilty to breaking campaign finance lieus. edwards said he did not want an extended period away from his young son and daughter.

edwards has pleaded not guilty. time now 6:37. today the san carlos city council will interview the 11 people that have applied to take over the seat of the late mayor omar ahmad. he died of a heart attack last month. his seat has remained open. they will talk to the people that want to feel out the rest of ahmad's term. the council will pick his successor tonight. all right let's check in with sal. we understand he's checking for a bridge crash? >> that is right. it's a truck and a motorcycle on the incline. and the last word we got is that the bridge crews were on the way but they slowed down the metering lights. you can see there is a sign on the bridge it's a little blurry. i think it says high winds on bridge or something to that matter. it has been windy on that bridge. westbound on the bridge traffic is going to be effected.

there is a big backup at the toll plaza. 880 commute that traffic looks goods as you drive past the coliseum. this morning if you are driving on the east shore freeway that looks okay. marin county traffic on the other side of the bay is also off to a good start. let's go to steve. >> thank you, sir. one would think we would be done with the rain. we are almost done. we do have mostly cloudy skies after the by-product of the weekend system which was a power house. believe it or not there is still allergy suffers out there. the trees and the weeds have been knocked down considerably. but grass is surprisingly in the immediate to medium high category.

i imagine these will really go up as we see a little bit more sunshine in the next couple of days. we will eventually. 50-56 mostly cloudy in the morning. there are a few breaks in the clouds. temperatures on the mild side. by clouds. some sun sun clouds and a possibility of scattered rain. i think most of it is rather weak. most will be off to the north and east of us. there is two systems that is too close. one is a big one we had on the weekend. that has moved into the sacramento area and then up toward tahoe. it is producing a mix offering and snow up there. there is another system producing straight down. that has to move in as well. the combination of the two can't build in. and then to the north another system. so maybe mendocino county in line for shower activity. 50s on your temps. low mid to upper.

initial tests sprouts from an organic farm are not the cause of a deadly e. coli outbreak. a german agricultural official says 23 of 40 samples from this effected sprout farm tested negative for the bacteria. the e. coli outbreak has killed 22 people and sickened more than 2300 others across europe. pam here's a quick look at some of the other top stories we are following for you right now. this morning east palo alto police are searching for the two men that killed a baby boy and injured his two parents. that baby was killed early sunday morning in a shooting that followed a baby shower. police say the 38-year-old cyclist was coming down the hill in san francisco when he crashed into a concrete median. pg&e continues pressure

testing on 150 miles of pipeline making sure that the pipelinelines are safe. over the weekend they tested pipes in newark. tomorrow they will move on to south san francisco. an investigation is now under way into the body found stuffed inside a burgage bag in sunnyvale. kraig debro is live with what police are doing this morning. >> reporter: this morning santa clara coroner will conduct an autopsy on the body because they don't even know the sex of the person that was found. people in sunnyvale are trying to find out how a dead body would be found. >> it doesn't happen anywhere in sunnyvale. the south side of town is quieter. it's very unusual. >> reporter: yesterday morning around 10:00 in the morning a resident came outside and saw a bag. a huge garbage bag and he told police he believes there was a

body inside the bag. they saw blood coming down the side of the bag. they looked inside and confirmed what the resident saw or thought he saw was a body in the bag. they have taken the body away. right now they don't even know the sex. there is very little about the body they do know. >> we think it's an adult due to the size of the bag and heftiness of the bag. >> reporter: so one of the things the police have done is starting to check for missing persons. first they need to know more information about the person inside the bag and hopefully that will come when the autopsy is completed today. police have also canvassed the neighborhood asking anyone if they saw anything suspicious either saturday night or early sunday morning. so far they have come up with nothing. they have been asking people as far as the nearby shopping center if they saw any

suspicious cars or vehicles. reporting live in sunnyvale kraig debro. time now 6:47. the former international monetary fund leader who is charged with sexually assaulting a hotel made in new york pleaded not guilty in court this morning. this is brand new video we just got in of dominic strauss kahn leaving court this morning. strauss kahn pleaded not guilty to attempted rape, sexual abuse, and other charges. strauss kahn is right now under house arrest. a trial in this case is probably months away. happening right now. apple developers and tech experts are lining up outside mast cone any center. we want to take you out there live this morning. take a look at the crowd there

is this morning. today is the start of apples worldwide developers conference. and ceo steve jobs is expected to take a break from his medical leave to give the keynote address. among the things he's expected to unvail are apples new i- cloud streaming service and a new operating service called lion. that keynote begins at 10:00 a.m.. >> this is big. 6:49. sal, i know you are watching the commute. i know you want to be there with steve jobs. i know that. >> how did you know i was a geek? i guess i told you that. >> we know that. >> i never did line up to get to see star wars. >> you didn't? >> okay maybe one. but i did have a girlfriend growing up. traffic is moving along pretty well if you are driving on westbound bay bridge. the traffic is moving along

okay. there was an accident actually it's a collision of some sort ten a big rig and motorcycle on that upper deck. fortunately did not turn into any source injuries. however, it did slow the traffic and now it's backed up beyond the oakland army base. it's about a 15 minute wait. also san francisco we are looking at that northbound 101 traffic looks okay. approaching the rosier deck of the bay bridge. this mornings commute on marin county we keep watching that getting a little busier. but on the east shore freeway that is the busiest of all as we drive out from vallejo. and today it's not living up to its name. i think if you live in pinole you're in a pretty good mood. let's go to steve. thank you. we do have mostly cloudy skies. one system moves out. another one dropping down. it's not nearly as strong. what could be compared to what we had on saturday. this system keeps us from warming up and keeps a lot of cloud cover in the forecast.

we will continue to have a cool pattern here over the next couple of days. forecast does call for mostly cloudy skies. kind of muggy. there is a lot of moisture in the air. if you can get any sun to get through the clouds it feels muggy. a few light showers. some rain is possible. partly to mostly cloudy. a dry pattern as we go to the extended but only somewhat warmer. not a lot warmer. one system right there beginning to move out. but there is another one dropping down. look at all the low cloud cover just hugging the coast. we have a lot to deal with. one system has moved up in the sierra. it's producing a mix of rain and snow. and then another system dropping down right there. this one should stay to the north. but i will show it to you on live storm tracker two. there is plenty there on the coast. some of it may swing in later. 50s. low mid to upper. hayward says 58.

french broadcasters are breaking their connections with social networking sites. as of may 27th radio and television announcers will not be able to mention facebook or twitter on the air. the only exception is if either business is the main focus of a major news story.
