being done. i wanted to show you two lines are still down. the n-judah and j-church. muni said they expected work to be finished by this morning but no one knows when. you are looking at crews watching yesterday. passengers took a muni train to -- the train with the damaged piece of equipment entered the tunnel yesterday and dragged down wires in a section of that tunnel. the pen to graph connects the vehicle to the muni overhead wire. the service went down before 11:30 yesterday morning shutting down service for five lines. k, l, m, n, and j. >> that's okay. we don't know which way to go.

which spot to go. >> it's bad for me because i'm so tired. i have been on my feet since 8:30 this morning. >> reporter: muni's aboveground service was not effected. and they immediately made shuttle buses available for riders and inspectors helped direct passengers. we will keep you posted on work here and will let you know when the lines are up. another suspicious grass fire in antioch is under investigation this morning. firefighters quickly put it out just after 7:30 last night. it happened near a park off york shire drive. the same neighborhood has seen several other fires recently. >> this is the fifth fire we have had in the last two weeks. a couple of them did structures in danger. >> there have been reports of juveniles seen leaving the area

but no good descriptions. a house fire is under investigation. a ktvu viewer shot this video after it started around 6:30 last night. no one was hurt. no word open the cause. the family of missing nursing student michelle le is asking for volunteers as they begin a search this morning at 8:00. hayward police tell us at ktvu yesterday that received new surveillance video from the hayward kaiser hospital garage. that is where le was last seen on may 27th. police are noticing what is on the video but it has been sent to the fbi. police are treating the case as a homicide but le's family remains hopeful. >> you know if it was your daughter and your sister, your cousin, your friend, you wouldn't give up hope until she was found. so of course not. we have not accepted that she

is passed on yet. >> the family will reveal today what areas will be searched. anyone interested in joining the search party must be at least 18 years old. volunteers are asked to report to the search command center. that is at 25350 cypress avenue in hayward. that begins at 8:00 this morning. this morning the search is on in southern california for new evidence in the bryan stow beating. geo van knee ramirez is accused of beating him up. ramirez's attorney went door to door in hollywood looking for surveillance video from the day of the beating. they are hoping it will show ramirez with hair not the shaved head. now the man that confessed to

killing oakland journalist chauncey bailey and another man is apologizing to his families. broussard says he does not expect forgiveness that he wants the families to know he's sorry. he says at the time of the shootings he didn't think of the victims as people. broussard who will be sentenced to 25 years in prison testified that yusuf bey iv ordered the hit. an oakland man is due to be arraigned in court today. 22-year-old clint tompkins is being charged in a shooting. two men died. four others were injured. police say several witnesses identified tompkins as the gunman. they also say they have recovered the rifle used in the attack. the two men do not appear bo be the intended target. a martinez man is recovering after being hit by an amtrak train. that happened just west affair

roadway street yesterday afternoon. police say the man was walking near the tracks but did not move when the train approached. the train did slow down but witnesses say it still hit the man with credible force. place police are trying to figure out whether alcohol played a role. it is now 4:37. we want to check in with sal for an early look at traffic. how are things looking? >> things are looking okay. you heard about the muni trains that jade is covering. just the k, l, and m. let's take a a look at the commute if you are driving on westbound 80. it looks good if you drive out to the mccarthur maze. also this morning looks good if you are driving at the toll plaza westbound coming into san francisco. it has been a nice drive to and from oakland or from san francisco if you will.

to the bay a lot of 50s and 60s or very low 70s. pattern will start to rebound on sunday and early next week does look sunny and warmer. >> sounds good, thank you. a so-called hit list shows al qaeda may be targeting some high-profile americans. the fbi says it found out about the list on a jihad website. it includes more than 40 people including photos for 26 of the targets. specific names on the hit list have not been revealed but reports say it includes a member of congress, pentagon officials, and a conservative political pun dent. no word if security is being increased. a government watchdog says a key part of a new air traffic control system is over budget and behind schedule. the faa is in the process of searching from world war ii era radar activity to the one that

i will say good morning. we do have fog south of the golden gate. very thick. sunny today but breezy and cool. more than 120,000 people have been forced to leave their homes because of flooding and landslides in eastern china. more than 170 people are feared dead or missing. one river is said to be at its highest level in more than 50 years. another round of heavy rain is expected in china today. we're learning new information about what lead police to an arrest suspected serial killer joseph naso. the 77-year-old is charged with

killing four women starting in 1977. the court documents made public says dna connects naso to two of the women. they discovered the dna of naso's former wife on the panty hose found around the wife of one of the murder victims in 1977. investigators also found more dna and fingernail clippings of another victim killed in 1978. the couple convicted of kidnapping and raping jc dugard are waking up in prison. phillip garrido started his sentence. prison officials say phillip garrido will likely be in public custody away from public population. it was once home to charlesmanson. an antioch woman has been convicted of murder and torture

pelosi says anthony weiner made the right call by resigning. the now former new york congressman stepped down yesterday saying he had become a distraction after he sent lewd photos of himself to a number of women. new york's governor will call a special election for primary day or election day. today new york state senate could vote on a bill to legalize gay marriage. they passed it on wednesday night. it would give same sex couples equal rights to marry. new york governor will meet with republican senators today to secure what appears to be the one vote needed. san francisco may tighten regulation on private shuttles. the popular vehicles carry commuters to work. some people say they are noisy

fire crews in the southwest have their hands full this morning. a wild fire along the new mexico, colorado border is one of fires burning. it destroyed eight homes and six other buildings this morning. they are dealing with gusty winds, heat, and dry conditions. in arizona the biggest wild fire in the state's history is just 33% contained this morning. fire has been burning since may 29th. about 760 square miles have burned and 32 homes have been destroyed there. they have pinpointed the cause to a campfire. no arrests have been made but authorities say they have two persons of interest that they are talking to. the sudden death of a paramedic in illinois is a good reminder for people in the bay area to keep an eye out for

ticks. michelle heap suddenly died earlier this week after getting bit by as many as 20 ticks. the station where she works is draped in black in her honor. heaps loved the outdoors and recently went on two camping trips. a new lawsuit claims 26 mars are violating california's organic labeling law. that requires the product to have at least 70% organic ingredients. the center for environmental health filed the class action lawsuit yesterday. they say foods and food supplements are well regulated but personal care products are not. >> we found dozens of shampoos, lotions, and toothpastes labeled as organic but they contain fewer or no organic ingredients. >> if they bare the usda logo

that would eliminate head on accidents but that won't happen for another two years. sal, i think we have been talking about a removable barrier on that bridge for 15 or more years. >> i think it has been longer. >> i know i reported on it many years ago. >> i know. i remember them talking about it when i was working here. how is traffic? traffic is doing well. westbound bay traffic is doing well. traffic is moving nicely across into san francisco. no major problems. this is a look at san francisco traffic northbound 101 getting up to the downtown area traffic is moving along okay. there may be delays on muni on the n judah and the j church lines as they come down here. they are doing repairs right near there. one of the trains is stopped nearby so there could be delays getting downtown on the lrv's.
