this. no matter how many firefighters are on any fire engine, they will go in there and they will fight these fires. the question is, of course, are we willing to pay for it. consumer editor, tom vacar. in sonoma county, a fire in a railroad tunnel sends a left smoke into the sky. drivers on 101 could see the smoke as well. the tunnel is lined with wood that's burning. there has been a partial collapse which is preventing fire cruise from getting inside. so fire crews will let this fire burn out though they're going to stay there to make sure it does not spread. firefighters are setting up to catch the person or persons responsible for setting five fires in five days. investigators went door to door today looking for clues. they say they believe that the arsonist is most likely a teenage boy from the area and that he is motivated by the thrill he gets from starting

fires. a san francisco city worker is recovering this evening after being shot on the job in arode road rage incident. the driver was shot in the shoulder blade and has now been released from the hospital. it called happened about 8:30 this among after the work are made a u-turn in the bay view neighborhood. >> my driver did the right thing by trying to drive away, trying to avoid altercation. >> reporter: another worker was in the truck but was not hit. police have not made any arrests but say that the shooter was driving a medium to dark colored car. san jose police department released a sketch of a man suspected of 20 armed robberies in 20 bay area cities. witnesses helped police with this sketch of the man who robbed the store on lincoln avenue near willow street. investigators consider him armed and dangerous and says that anyone who sees him should

immediately call police the man arrested at san francisco international airport after a dispute with his sagging pants said he felt harassed. he told media that he pulled up his pants after being asked. but the flight attendant demanded that he leave the plane. he released a statement saying that he is embarrassed by all the attention. police arrested marmon for trespassing and battery. police arrested two men after a fight. one man was hit in the face with a 55 g-gallon can. police arrested lazano for assault and the other one for public drunkenness. family and friends of michele le are wrapping up the first day of searching her. >> i want to see that we find

security alarms and surveillance cameras on their homes. what now? a california state budget was passed and vetoed and now nothing. ken pritchett went to the capitol to look for answers. ken, you ended up looking for lawmakers. >> those lawmakers were few and far in between. they had a deadline, pass the budget or forfeit their pay. they passed the budget but the golf nor governor vetoed it. so what now? if you wanted signs of urgency, there wasn't anything here. a typical friday where tourists dominate the hall. >> i think they should lock them in chambers until they finish the budget. >> lawmakers did pass the budget beating the deadline. had it failed, it would have meant no paycheck but the governor vetoed the budget

>> the fbi says it does not appear a marine reservist arrested this morning was a threat to the pentagon as well. an fbi bomb squad searched the car belonging to 30-year-old yonathan melaku arrested for trespassing. nothing harmful was found in the car on on melaku. police say that he claimed to have explosives in the back pack that he was carrying. >> senator barbara boxer came to san francisco today to make a big announcement about the war in afghanistan. the democrat called on president obama to withdraw troops by the end of this year. although she worthed the war after 9/11, she says that changes need to be made. >> the u.s. cannot sustain an indefinite commitment and did for the afghan what they must do for themselves. >> senator boxer said that the u.s. must focus on targeted counter terrorism operations

harbor. >> it really was exciting. all the people on the boat were cheering because that may have been the first time that they saw the orcas. >> kevin just returned from a salmon fishing trip when he saw the video. he says a swarm of startled sea lions started swimming away rapidly and kayakers froze not knowing whether they were safe. >> the kayakers froze. another pontoon boat tried to get closer to take video. nobody knew what to do. >> they are found ten miles out in the middle of the bay, not near the harbor. >> as far as my records indicate, there had not been a sighting of killer whales this close since the 1950s. >> scientists believe that they could have been hunting for prey. >> they are pretty smart animals. they might just be coming out to see if they could catch the
