there is new video of giants fan bryan stow in the hours before he was beaten outside dodgers stadium. coming up what that video shows and what it could mean for the investigation. five people are still unaccounted for after a deadly crash between a truck and an amtrak train headed to the bay area. the new information indicating the trucking company involved is not safe. and a danville teenager critically injured in an accident at the beach. it's all ahead here on the ktvu

morning news. good morning. thank you for waking up with us. it's monday june 27th. i'm pam cook. pretty nice weather weekend. what about the week? steve paulson has the forecast. hi, steve. whoa, pam. very interesting week. today's the weiner day. we have a lot of low clouds filling in on the coast making a push inland. 60s, 70s still low to mid-80s but the big news looks to be a possibility of rain moving in tuesday and wednesday. more on that coming up. now here's sal. steve, good morning. traffic is doing very well this morning if you're driving on highway 4 off to a pretty nice start this morning on 4 from antioch all the way up to concord. also this morning we're looking at interstate 880 and that's a nice drive driving to hayward in oakland. 4:31 back to the desk. new video this morning shows beaten giants fan bryan stow arguing with a dodgers fan, but it is not the man that los angeles police have in

custody. ktvu's allie rasmus joins us now with a look at that video. good morning, allie. >> reporter: good morning. right now we are at san francisco general hospital where bryan stow was transferred here from a los angeles area hospital about a month ago. now last week doctors here say stow is improving. they upgraded his condition from critical to serious. and meanwhile there is as you mentioned some new video that could have an impact that could be connected to this case. take a look at that video. this is released by tmz taken from inside dodgers stadium during the dodgers-giants game. it shows a man in a dodgers jersey standing up and appearing to be arguing with stow. now in this video you can see stow seated on the left. he appears to be trying to calm this guy down. he has his hands up in the video. we don't know at what point during this game this video was shot, but we do know some time after stow left this game he was brutally beaten by two dodgers fans outside the stadium. the man seen here in this dodgers jersey is not the man los angeles police arrested for

stow's beating. that person, the person who was arrested is 31-year-old giovanni ramirez. we ask police what impact this could have on the case. and ramirez's attorney says his client wasn't even at the stadium. but police chief charlie beck says he is confident ramirez is one of the two people responsible for stow's beating. los angeles police are still looking for that second suspect. live in san francisco, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. also this morning union city police are investigating a shooting that left one man in critical condition. they say it happened at the same house where another person was killed last month. the shooting happened last night at 8:30 on will road. when police arrived they found a 22-year-old latino man with multiple gunshot wounds. police say all they know about

the suspects is that they approached on footwearing dark clothing. they're now investigating any connections between this shooting and last month's homicide at the same house. this morning the coast guard will resume the search for a missing boater in marin county. witnesses say they spotted the man fall out of his small aluminum boat into the bay near dillon beach yesterday afternoon. his boat later washed ashore but there was no sign of the man who was apparently not wearing a life jacket. search teams will return to the area later this morning. investigators are still looking for answers in the disaster in the nevada desert involving an amtrak train headed to emeryville. the fiery crash happened friday about 70 miles east of reno. six people are confirmed dead. five others remain unaccounted for. now it's still not clear why a big rig driver plowed into the moving train, but investigators say that he slammed on his brakes but could not stop in

time. federal records show the driver worked for a company that had been cited several times for safety violations. now the train's conductor was among those who died in friday's crash. 68-year-old lee lived in concord before moving to lake tahoe two years ago. most of her grieving family members still live here in the bay area. >> we're still kind of expecting to be able to say no that wasn't my mom's train. and this time it was. it's hard. >> lee started her career with the railroad 23 years ago working as a baggage handler and a ticket taker at the martinez train station. three years later she was promoted to conductor. a 4-year-old martinez boy in oakland children's hospital on life support after his mother accidentally ran over him. an aunt e-mailed this picture of the 4-year-old to the ktvu

news room. she says that the boy suffered serious head injuries. according to a facebook page set up by family members, brendan underwent surgery and doctors tell them his injuries are not as bad as they initially thought. now police say the mother was parking in the driveway of the family's home on vista way saturday morning and didn't see the child. he had walked from the yard to the driveway and was playing in the path of the car. a danville teenager is fighting for his life following a weekend accident at a santa cruz county beach. 17-year-old ryan buchanan went to sunset state beach on saturday with his church group. he was critically injured when a tunnel he was digging in the sand collapsed. life guards say the teenager from creek side community church was not breathing when they pulled him out of the sand. he was taken by helicopter to san jose's valley medical center. >> the first time period is the 24 hour period apparently.

and he's come through that. and, again, they're detecting certain brain activity and response to voices. it's very encouraging at this point. >> members of the creek side community church held a service last night to pray for ryan. the public is invited to attend another church service tonight. well, there's a lot to celebrate at this year's san francisco pride parade. the festivities got off to a roaring start as usual. yesterday with the lesbian group called dikes on bikes leading the way thousands of people lined the streets to watch the procession of floats, costumes and dancers. new york's legalization of gay marriage added to the excitement. and since last year don't ask don't tell has been repealed. retired navy commander dunning helped lead the fight. >> i think public opinions changed. we've evolved. we've realized that discrimination is discrimination, equality is equality. and i think that our laws are starting to change to reflect

[ cheering and applause ] yesterday's parade had thousands dancing in the streets as people from all over the world joined in on the festivities. party goers had even more to cheer about thanks to the city's recent legalization of same sex marriage, not everyone was happy about the new law. yesterday the man who runs new york's catholic church gave his reaction to the ruling. >> i would have to say i was sad. i'm just sad because i think it's not good for common good. and that's what we've been arguing for so long. >> he says he's disappointed that lawmakers would tamper with something that's been

settled for so long. the same sex marriage law goes into effect next month. the law gives same sex couples employer health benefits and a number of state tax benefits. in chicago the 42nd annual gay pride parade went on despite someone slashing the tires on more than 50 floats overnight. more than 100 punctured tires were discovered early yesterday morning thanks to a last minute effort all but three of the vandalized floats were repaired in time for the parade. now some parade officials called the incident a hate crime. but chicago police say they're classifying it as a property crime for now. governor brown and democratic state legislators are working to get an alternative budget plan passed before the end of the fiscal year this thursday. that's after the governor vetoed the first budget sent to him by democrats because he said it was full of gimmicks to cover the state's $9.6 billion deficit. and the state controller says

that budget wasn't balanced. so he's not paying them until they come up with one that is. lawmakers are at an impasse over raising the country's debt limit. coming up in just about nine minutes the steps president obama is taking today to begin negotiations once again. 4:39 is the time right now. let's check in with sal for a look at traffic. hi, sal. hey, pam. good morning to you. traffic is doing pretty well around the bay area. if you are driving on 80 westbound it's a nice looking drive heading out to the macarthur maze. also this morning we're looking at westbound bay bridge coming up to the bay bridge toll plaza. looks very nice. no major problems on the way into san francisco. and this morning if you're driving on 280 it's also off to a great start. the traffic looks good all the way up into the west valley. now let's go to steve. all right, sal. thank you, sir. we have fog filling in nicely on the coast in advance of a cold front. what? yeah, cold front which will be here tomorrow. but in advance of that the fog will fill in coast, bay

starting to make a bit of a push. once that burns off sunshine mild to warm inland. there's your system. really decent for this time of year. it would be okay for any time in the spring, but for summer it's got a lot going for it. temperatures in the 50s for everybody. san rafael the coolest along with santa rosa at 50. if it wasn't for the breeze i think we'd be even cooler west- southwest fairfield gusts to 25 there. still a delta breeze in place. here comes our system dropping in. it will start to increase clouds tonight and maybe lead to rain no doubt about it. looks like for the north bay tomorrow. the question is how far south will anything make it and how long will it linger? but it is tapping into some moisture and everything will go over the bay area by wednesday afternoon. so our temperatures will drop big time. we'll get a lot of clouds. fog, sun, then breezy. morning low clouds give way to sunshine inland. his 60s, 70s coast and bay. low to mid-80s inland as temperatures warmed up yesterday i think kind of level off today and then the on shore wind in advance of that system will kick in later on. a lot of clouds.

san jose may not get anything out of this. santa rosa could get a half inch of rain on tuesday. possibility of showers and thundershowers on wednesday. then it's out of here thursday and then looks like sunny side up and warmer as we head into the weekend, pam. okay. it's the 4th of july weekend. well, a swollen river in north dakota is slowly receding this morning. but thousands of homes are under water. and now there are other communities at risk. plus a new wild fire in new mexico. the important government building that could be in danger. good morning. traffic on the golden gate bridge is doing well, but this little fog on that span. tell you more about that straight ahead. 7

unless there were those things that look like carrots but are really jellybeans good morning. low clouds and fog pushing inland. once that burns back, fog, sun and mild to warm inland. but temperatures will start to cool down in advance of a cold front coming in tomorrow. investigators are not saying if age played a factor in a crash involving a church school bus. the collision injured 23 people on an interstate in south central pennsylvania. the bus ended upside down on a guardrail. authorities say a 79-year-old motorist try today pass a bus but crashed into it when an oncoming vehicle approached. none of the injuries are life threatening. a second victim has died after a 90-year-old woman whether or not you had her car into a san jose nursing home.

that accident happened on saturday. police say the driver who they're not identifying hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. the car crashed through a window of a recreation room. susan died from her injuries on saturday. the director says there were complications. >> she was 100 probably she would have survived i think because her injury was according to the paramedics the injury itself was slight. >> now 88-year-oldester died on saturday following the accident. two more people are being treated at local hospitals. police continue to investigate this accident. the driver has not been charged. today marks one month since nursing student michelle le disappeared. over the weekend dozens of volunteers combed rural parts of the east bay. family members say they are searching with limited information but are focusing on areas based on tips from

police. le was last seen at medical center in hayward. police have reclassified her case as a homicide. at this time authorities say there's no radiation danger from a wild fire near the lost alamos national laboratory in new mexico. the fire began in a nearby forest and burned 5.5 square miles of land. fire crews say the lab is safe because the fire has not crossed onto the property but the nuclear weapons lab remains closed today between 50 to 100 homes have also been evacuated. firefighters have a firm grasp of three major wild fires in arizona. one is now fully contained. the second fire is nearly out. now the third wild fire is growing only in a rugged area with few people living there. the so-called wallow fire remains the most difficult one to put out. it was started last month and has burned more than half a million acres. it is now 77% contained. water levels are slowly

dropping in one north dakota town, but the damage from severe flooding is already done. some 4,000 homes sit under water in the community of minot. the water is from the river which crested yesterday morning. the river's level has since dropped by a few hundredths of an inch, but that is little comfort to homeowners. >> you hear so much about what it's like out here, but when you actually see your house and you know it's not just your basement, it's your whole house. >> the river is still 12 feet above flood stage. water levels are expected to peak next in bismarck and sawyer. fema is providing some assistance to people affected by the disaster. in nebraska people at a nuclear power plant are keeping a close eye on the rising missouri river. the plant in brownville is surrounded by barriers, but the water is just two and a half

feet below. officials say they have several plans in place in case power goes out at the plant. this morning minnesota congresswoman michele bachmann will officially announce she's joining the field of candidates vying for the 2012 republican presidential nomination. a tea party favorite will make her announcement this morning in waterloo, iowa, where she was born. iowa is also where the first caucus in the presidential race takes place in february. also today president obama will enter negotiations over the raising the country's debt limit. the president is set to meet this morning with senate majority leader harry reed and separately this afternoon senate minority leader mitch mconly. that's after months of negotiations led by vice president joe biden reached an impasse last week. this morning the u.s. supreme court is expected to announce it's decision on the california law that bans the sale of violent video games to

children. san francisco state senator ye wrote the bill that outlaws selling violent games like grand theft auto series to anyone under the age of 18. but video companies say that infringes on free speech rights. case is argued in front of supreme court last november when the justices seemed closely split on the issue. also this morning the council on american islamic relations will announce it is suing abercrombie and pitch for religious discrimination. the group claims the woman was fired from the bay area holster company store when she refused to remove her head scarf. now holster's owned by abercrombie and pitch. she worked in the store's stock room for several months. she was told even though she wore the head scarf for religious reasons that it did not comply with the company's look policy. well, you can get screened for hiv today for free. the santa clara public health department is offering the

tests in honor of the national hiv testing day today. there will be -- they will be offered at two locations in san jose. the crane center from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and a mobile clinic at st. james park from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. all tests will be free and anonymous. a big san francisco tourist attraction is back in service this morning. plus another smart meter show down. the protest scheduled to begin in just two hours. and now you're looking live at a fire in florida. a motel engulfed in flames. that fire has been burning for hours. we'll have more information when we come back. fire at a motel that has been raging for hours. take a look at that. the flames have also as you can see spread to the parking lot. at least one car we can see there looks like more may have been burned started about 10:30 last night in one of the rooms. this is the vacation lodge in kissimmee, florida. 150 people staying and living at that motel had to evacuate. couple people were treated for smoke inhalation. no other injuries have been reported this is in florida not far from the walt disney resort. so certainly a lot of people could be staying at that motel on vacation. take you there live this morning to kissimmee, florida. we'll check back in in just a little bit. a huge motel fire. the stage is set for the latest smart meter show down. today pg&e plans to begin installing smart meters all across santa cruz county. protesters are planning several demonstrations. they even plan to block the entrance of the pg&e payment
