marin city transit center has seen robberies recently. so what is the sheriff's office doing about it. a deadly crash in santa cruz is now a crime investigation. the reason police believe the fatal accident was deliberate. and a review is scheduled today in response to a fatal shooting which spurred an out- of--scroll scuffle last -- out of control scuffle last saturday night.

well, good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> good morning. i'm claudine wong. tori campbell is off. commuters who ride the bus in marin city are being told to be on the lookout after a series 6 robberies. ktvu's kraig debro is live with how authorities are responding to this increase in violence. >> reporter: good morning. we're actually at the san rafael transit hub, but in talking with people here up eight miles to the south here is not unique at all. it can happen here in san rafael, as it has, over the past now years. i talked to a security guard, a private security guard, i also talked with an official at golden gate transit. i talked with officials. they say they know about the problem. we're at the -- they say they know about the problem at the

security hub. over the past few weeks we've seen a lot of robberies down at that very city transit center. there have been four. the first one started on june 26th. there was an armed robbery -- unarm 9 robbery, i should say -- unarmed robbery, i should say. they didn't get away with anything because the victim fought back. june 26th an assault. a cell phone was taken. at 8:30, june 29th. there was an assault. a wallet was taken. and then july 2nd, an armed -- an armed robbery, a cell phone, backpack was taken. >> the sherr 6 says they are issuing a -- sheriff says they are issuing a warning. that warning says if you are getting off the bus or coming on the bus, you should be aware of your surroundth, avoid contact with strangers and walk in group -- and walk 234 groups

if possible. punish -- and walk in groups if possible. now, we're gonna make our way down to the marin city transit hub after this. we'll also talking to people who take the transit as well as the private security company who monthers this -- monitors 24 center. back to you. >> thank you, kraig. orinda police are trying to spread the word about a recent spike in day-time home robberies this. is surveillance video trying to use a bankcard stole important a home. burglars are targeted unoccupied homes, oftentimes by knock on the door first. police are asking people to be vigilant. well, it was a close call for a mother and her baby girl pulled from an early-morning apartment fire in san pablo.

it happened at the hilltop apartments on crescent drive. the woman fell asleep while cooking and that activated the sprinkler system. when firefighters arrived, they treated her and her infant for smoke infallation. the committee will meet and discuss last week's deadly shooting. jade hernandez joins us with more following a rowdy protest that disrupted b.a.r.t. trains. >> reporter: dave, officials say those who participated in this, participated -- in this shooting last week, participated in unresponsible behavior. charles hill, this man was shot after refusing to comply with officer orders. dozens of protesters split off

causing huge delays for passengers trying to get home. ktvu was the only station to bring you live pictures as this station unfolded during the commute. our cameras showed a scuffle that broke out between passengers and a frustrated driver. at that point, police in riot gear arrived and forced people back. >> i just want to go home. i guess they have a right.
