the country before ending at the airplane. no word on whether casey anthony was on that plane. sweeping layoffs today. cisco, which makes networking equipment said it is cutting 6500 jobs. ktvu's john sasaki has more. >> reporter: for the past couple hours workers have been leaving this complex and we asked morthan a dozen people to comment on the bad news. almost all of them turned us down. 6500 workers are being laid off. that's a cut of 9% of the 73,408 workers world wide. layoffs have been rumored for weeks. it was rumored to lay off 10,000 people. still the 6500 layoffs will include 15% of upper

years students are paying $18 more for every 100 in tuition. one uc berkeley administrator is earning $30 more for every 100 in salary. >> i don't think it's fair students have to pay more. >> we think it's fair. >> harder for students. >> maybe we pay administrators more money to hire -- track better talent. >> spokesman says it's tough to keep good people during tough times. >> the best way to keep them and to recruit others is to pay what other competitors are paying. >> reporter: the pay raises are largely coming from sources other than state money. when everyone is cutting back that message might be a tough one to sell. we contacted with a spokesperson and he said they

. audit finds a break down that state department of corrections may have cost the state millions millions of dollars. the program was put in place to evaluate parolees. the audit found thousands of parolees were sent for a mental health evaluation even though they were already determined not to pose a risk. >> we looked at a 5 year window and found just to evaluate it cost $49 million. >> they say they have seen the report and says improvements are underway to avoid that. police say three people shot in san jose are expected to survived. it happened last night. investigators say a gunman opened fire on a crowd of people hitting a 15-year-old boy, a 20-year-old woman and a
