gang violence gripped richmond as another young man is killed. john is live now in richmond where the homicide rate has hit a grim milestone. >> this is 24th street and exchange place and you can see what appears to be a blood stain. now three candles make up the memorial here for a young man cut down by gun fire. the 20-year-old man is the 21st homicide victim of the year. >> it's disturbing and lack of regard for human life. >> reporter: it's believed it was likely gang related unlike most recent gang shootings. with nine killings this month the city is already matched last year's homicide total. >> at the independent community church the pastor said three families have been devastate by killings that happened just this month. >> in reality we are family

live in richmond. >> police have identified the victim killed last night in a double shooting there. investigators say the 2-year- old omar martinez was found shot to death inside a vehicle. in the area of ohara avenue and laurel road. a second victim identified as a 16-year-old was found nearby. his condition hasn't been released. police arrested 21-year-old david vargas. the shooting was the result an argument between two groups who knew each other. >> this week police are expected to release new details in a decade old cold case. jenine harms vanished premeditate psalmed dead. the main suspect was killed last year by the victim's

. the first gay marriages in new york were preformed just after midnight and continued throughout the day. new york is now the 6th and largest state to recognize gay weddings. thousands of proponents protested saying lawmakers mart people in california are still hopeful they will be able to marry some day as well. sporters reacted to the new law with optimism and envy.

proposition 8. at 5:35 we will hear how they researched their roles. >> ia standoff with vacaville police lead to the arrest of a stabbing suspect. the 27-year-old is suspect of stack another man who was in his car. despite stab wounds the victim is expected to survive. police tracked the man to his home where he was holed up with his girlfriend and 2-year-old son. investigators reportedly found evidence linking him to the stabbing. no watsonville detectives investigating a shooting that left one person dead outside a target store. the shooting happened in the parking lot at the main street store. an 18-year-old died at the scene. his girlfriend lived and was taken to the hospital. the shots came from a green

police say a 42-year-old shot a couple who was dancing. he then shot fine others. police aren't saying how the shooter is connected to the couple or any of the others injured. an off duty officer at the club tackled the shooter. we have new information about the fatal shooting inside a roller rink we first told you about last night. police say a 35-year-old killed his estranged wife and four of her family members. about 30 people were at the roller world for a private party saturday night to celebrate the 11th birthday of the gunman's son. he wounded four before taking his one life. the owner said he quickly shoved some young kids out of harm's way. >> an autopsy is scheduled tomorrow for amy winehouse. fans left flowers, photographs and candles. the grammy winner was found dead inside the home yesterday. authorities say they are

police officers could soon have to pay more for their health care and retirement. the times reports the city counts ill will vote tomorrow to impose a one year contract on officers that would raise health care premiums. this after three months of negotiation. it would save more than $281,000. >> drivers will have to answer a tough question, next time they renew their license. a new rule now in effect says drivers cannot skip the organ donation portion of the form. the change is meant to boost the number of people willing to donate organs. transplant donor groups push for the new rule that was approved last year. you have a little more incentive to donate blood. starting tomorrow blood donors can get a pint of ice cream in exchange for a pint of blood. it goes with the increased demand for blood because of accidents during the summer.
