and battery following their arrest on thursday for the attack outside dodger stadium. court documents state that it was much more brutal, that attack, than first thought. the records show stow's attackers slashed his tongue, put out an eye and disfigured his face. now a funeral service will be held today for the best friend of the late oscar grant. he was shot and killed while it ising in a car at a gas station ten days ago. police have still looking for his killer. he was with grant at the fruit bart station on new year's day 2009 when grant was shot and killed by a then police officer. he will be buried next to grant. this morning, police are searching for the gunman who shot two people overnight. we are live with what police believe may have led up to this

deadly shooting. >> reporter: well, pam, we just learned from an acting captain that this deadly shooting that happened last night may be tied to last week's shooting. i can show you right now that police are still out here investigating the shooting that happened around 10:30 last night. i have been told that this might be a personal matter that has escalated into extreme violence. the police are out here investigating. we're live along east bay shore boulevard which turns into donahoe. the crime tape is still up. you're going to hear from the captain coming up later. right now, this is what we can tell you, a young man in his late teens didn't survive the shooting last night. and another young man also in his late teens was taken to the hospital and he is expected to survive. police say the two knew each other. police aren't sure how many shooters were involved at this point, but right now, there is no description of suspects and no one has been arrested.

police will be holding a press conference at 11:00 late they are morning to discuss the other shootings last week. and as i mentioned, you're going to hear from the acting captain coming up. we will bring that for you. reporting live, ktvu channel 2 news. the man who has confessed to the attacks that killed 93 people in norway will appear in court this morning. an attorney for the suspect say that his client asked for an open hearing to explain why he did it. but just within the last hour, the judge decided it would be a closed hearing following a request from police. now the day of the attacks, he published a 1500-page paper criticizing muslim immigration and multiculturism. in oslo, people gathered to remember the lives lost in

friday's massacre at a youth camp and a bomb attack at a government building. a richmond man is out of the hospital this morning after being mauled by a bear. the 18-year-old was participating in a sur -- survival skills course. he was one of seven people hiking when the bear attacked. two other teenagers suffered. >> after the bear attack occurred, they were able to set a camp up. they were able to give each other first aid as best as they could. and they activated a personal locater beacon so somebody could come help them. >> this is day 24 of the 30-day course. there were no instructors with the group when the attack happened. this morning, san francisco

pastors are helping passengers with bus fare. pastors will be on the flat forms paying the $2 fare for anyone who doesn't have the money. this is in response to last saturday's fatal gun battle between a 19-year-old and police officers. police say it began w when he ran from cops after not paying for his ticket. the money will be coming out of the pastor's own pocket. well, it has been another violent weekend on the streets of richmond. homicide investigators are looking for suspects in the deadly shooting of a 19-year- old man saturday night. police say his death is likely tied to a dispute between gangs in north and central richmond. he was the city's 21st homicide victim of the year, the same number for all of last year. >> it's really disturbing and lack of regard for human life that we have seen. >> the youth in richmond have to make a decision for themselves to live. not to, not to take a life, but

to live. >> last week, richmond police announced the creation of a new gang task force. it's main goal will try to stop this outbreak of deadly violence. police in oakly have arrested a suspect in a shooting saturday night that killed one man and injured a teenager. the 218-year-old is now -- 21- year-old is now in jail on suspicion of murder. police found a 22-year-old shot to death inside a car at about 7:00 p.m. saturday. a 16-year-old boy was also shot and air lifted to a hospital. police are looking for two other people they believe were in the car with him when he was shot. all lanes of highway 1 have reopened, but that's after a fiery crash overnight. a car flipped over and burst into flames near manner drive at about 11:40 last night. the person inside the car was taken to the hospital. their condition is not known at this point. the highway was shut down for

several hours during the investigation. but all lanes reopened just a few hours ago. an end to the four month nfl lockout may be in site. today the players' executive committee will meet in washington, d.c. to talk an agreement. owners approved an agreement to end the lockout on thursday. but the players say they need more information before they can vote. now lawyers worked through the weekend on the issues holding up an agreement. if the labor dispute ends, training camps could open this week. the san francisco giants will pay a visit to 1600 pennsylvania avenue today. president barack obama is honoring the giants at a white house event celebrating their world series victory. however, not everyone on the team is excited about the chance to meet the president. the chronicle reports that some players have been privately grumbling about having to make an overnight flight from san francisco to washington, d.c. on their day off. well, it's 4:37.

we want to check in for a complete look at traffic this morning. hi. >> good morning, pam. we're just finding out there are 1700 customers in berkeley without power now. this started for some customers last night. as a matter of fact, just found out that some of the customers have been without power since yesterday evening. it's a longtime to be without power. and the desk is working on it. we're going to have more on it. but that's quite a few people in berkeley without power. 1700. if you know someone in berkeley, give them a ring to wake them up this morning until, you know, you hear. if they're in berkeley, probably not watching us. so it's up to you, your friends and family to give them a call. let's take a look at berkeley, east shore freeway westbound, that traffic looks good. pardon me, out to the maize, with no major issues here. interstate 880, the same thing

goes, north and southbound off to a nice start. no road work there. and some of the road work on the lower deck of the bay bridge is being picked up. southbound north 280 traffic looks nice through downtown san jose. looking good on 280. and i have a map of the south bay, 17, a little bit of congestion coming down, a lot of people do it early in the morning. but as you can see, the south bay commute looks good on 101, 85. and we showed you 280. 237 looks good as well. 439, let's go to steve. good morning. pattern, west coast is cool. everyone east of us is hot, hot, hot. and we have an area of low pressure to the north. that just sits there. doesn't have to be strong this time of year and the fog bank is large and in charge. working out. fog, low clouds, patchy drizzle as well. afternoon, maybe a couple degrees cooler for a few. but sunday's temperatures will

carry over into today. the system right there, not much. but again, even the littlest of systems enhances the fog bank and that's what we have been dealing with. tropical moisture, that's coming up from mexico moving into arizona maybe later in the week. a lot of lead time on that though. big fog bank out there. it's up and flying over the hills. temperatures in the 50s for almost everybody, except for the one loan outpost out there. and when you see a west, southwest at 26 miles per hour, i mean that's a sea breeze, gusts over 30 miles per hour at fair field. and sea breeze for everybody. everything is in place for another cool day. temperatures below average a little bit. and then we back off a little bit. low clouds, sun and breezy, but also drizzle, windy. 50s, 60s and 70s and maybe a few mid-80s, but temperatures held in check due to the fog bank and lower pressure on the

west coast. looks like we will see a gradual, just slight warming trend. and it does look warm into the weekend, temperatures near normal. >> thank you. nearly two dozen suspicious fires in north hollywood have investigators searching for an arsonists. take a look at that, at least 18 fires have burned apartment buildings, a motor home and several cars since thursday. all of the fires were set early in the morning. one woman left her home to look at a fire down the street and was shocked to find her own house on fire when she returned. >> i checked it out and they started leaving and i hop back in the bed and within two minutes, some lady is at my front door screaming saying, get up, get up, your garage is on fire. >> well, investigators are working with police detectives. no one has been hurt in the fire. the deadline is rapidly

good morning. big fog bank continues to move locally. watch out for drizzle. after that, similar to sunday. so sunshine, breezy to windy at times. and now more on the power outage. it's 1700 customers without power in berkeley. this has been going on for quite some time now. many customers have been without power for going on 12 hours. and some quite, not quite that long. however, it is going to be a problem obviously on a monday morning. dare say that some people, unless they wake up some other way are going to miss their alarm clocks. we're trying to find out more about this rather large power outage in berkeley. we will let you know more coming up. >> thank you. now 4:45. and nearly two dozen suspicious fires in north hollywood have investigators searching for arsons. we were talking about that. and the other big story this morning, the debt stalemate continues in washington, d.c. so far, president barack obama and

hundreds of same-sex couples are waking up as married couples. >> i now pronounce you legally married. >> yesterday 761 couples tied the knot on the first day that same-sex marriage became legal. mayor bloomberg participated in the historic event. he official -- he officiated the wedding of two of his gay staff members. the hand holding day was in response to a controversial incident that happened last weekend. museum workers say a security guard told a lesbian that hand holding was not allowed in the building there. sparked outrage from other people visiting. >> the guard was immediately removed, immediately removed. the couple who was approached were apologized to and really had a wonderful experience

after that. >> now yesterday's hand holding day was held at the same time as the lgbt family morning. that celebrated the life of the famous lesbian artist and other families. netflix is in negotiations to obtain the rights to animated movies from dreamworks. they are known for several popular films. there are published reports that the deal could be reached by the end of the week. but both companies are refusing to comment at this point. the netflix is scheduled to report quarterly earnings after today's closing bell. a landmark san francisco theater is showing its final movie today. the theater on 8th street is closing 31 years to the day after it opened. the owner say it's an era of streaming video and ondemand movies and they could no longer attract movie goers.

two weeks ago, fans lined up to buy old movie posters. a new study shows the silicon valley has the highest rent in the country. the research shows the average price for an apartment is more than $1,700 a month. experts say high demand is pushing rent higher. the demand is growing as people are forced out of their homes by foreclosure or decide to move away from parents or roommates. >> we've renewed the lease once and it went up 10 or 12%. >> what we have right now is a perfect imbalance of supply and demand. more renters looking for housing than available units. >> analysts say the trend is likely to continue until at least 2,000 units are built or more people are able to buy a house. now 4:49. a mysterious cold case that dates back ten years.

welcome back to the morning news. the trial of four middle schoolboys accused of sexually assaulting two girls during a class field trip is set to start this morning in a county courtroom. the boys face up to 15 years behind bars if convicted. the charges stem from a recent visit to a redwood city park by 20 students from the middle school. investigators say the boys broke away from the group and attacked the two girls. police in the south bay this week are expected to release new details in a 10- year-old cold case. she disappeared in july 2001. she is presumed dead, though her body has never been found. the main suspect in the case, a

san jose architect was killed last year by the victim's brother who then killed himself. now on friday, prosecutors expect to release the results of forensic evidence that allegedly links a rug from her home to his jeep. the city may that could pu more police officers on the streets. on tuesday, the city council is expected to consider accepting a grant from the hospital. now the money would pay for at least one officer for up to five years, but the city hopes to hire a second officer and a sergeant using the money and possibly other funds. it's 4:53. coming up on 5:00, let's check in on traffic this morning. how's it look? >> the power outage in berkeley, it could be causing signal lights not to be working. about 1700 customers are without power in berkeley. and some of these people have been without power for quite

pattern has been there over and over and over. the high tries to build back to the west, but trying to build back to the west for what seems like two months now. so gradually starts warming up and it will in the latter part of the week. but local drizzle and 50s on the temperatures. fairfield 54 with a boot scooten sea breeze out there. west, southwest at 29 miles per hour, gusts over 30 miles per hour. they are done. i mean, low 80s at best. a lot of just picking up sea breezes that are strong for this time of year. that's the system. there it is. there in lies a cool forecast. local drizzle. after the fog burns off, temperatures start to rebound, breezy to win, highs 70s and 80s. away from the coast, 50s and 60s closer to to it. breezy to windy at times and 60s for many and 70s and a few upper others near the beaches

to low 80s for many well inland. temperatures start to rebound starting tomorrow. gradual warming because it will be a couple of degrees each day. >> my goodness. thank you, steve. well, people on the east coast starting to feel some relief if the heat wave today. cooler air is sending temperatures into the low to mid-80s. and that is a big difference if the triple digit temperatures in much of the country the past couple of days. 132million people were under a heat alert. and that heat is blamed for as many as 34 deaths. nationally, gas prices are up about a dime in the last month. right now, the average price is $3.70 a gallon. in san francisco, it's 20 cents higher. but up just a penny from this time last week. in the south and east bay areas, regular gas is going for $3.82 which is actually down four cents from this time last month. a new summer hero came out
