and the two suspects arrested in the bryan stow case will take place early this morning. now we know that the attack on bryan stow was more brutal than we thought. allie rasmus is in san francisco with the latest. >> reporter: when bryan stow was beaten he not only suffered serious head injuries. his attackers first and disabled his tongue and slashed his face. meanwhile los angeles police have arrested two new suspects in connection with the crimes. 29-year-old louis sanchez and 30-year-old marvin norwood are expected to appear in court today for the first time. they are both facing federal charges. the arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 this morning. charlie beck announced the arrest of sanchez and norwood on sunday.

the police department asked not to release the pictures of the suspects. but police say the suspect resemble the sketches released by police. now the man seen here is giovanni ramirez. ramirez said he was not even at the game when the attack happened. ramirez has been cleared. sanchez and norwood remain behind bars, they are being held on $5,000 bail. allie rasmus, ktvu news. in overnight news, police in east palo alto are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured. it happened in a parking lot near east bay shore road and uklis just before 4:30 last night. police believe there may have been some sort of argument leading up to that shooting.

one person died at the scene. another was talken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. no arrests have been made and police are still looking for suspects. we could learn more information today about two other murders in east palo alto. 19-year-old katherine fisher was shot and killed on july 13th and hugo chavez was killed on july 19th. today police will hold a briefing to announce three suspects who are believed to be connected to these two murders as well as crimes in colorado. the chp investigating the cause of a fiery crash it happened on highway 1 in pacifica. a car flipped over then burst into flames about 11:40 last night. the person who was in this car was rushed to the hospital. we don't know their condition. the highway was shutdown for several hours while the police investigated. all the lanes are open again.

they reopen add few hours ago. a richmond man is recovering after being attacked by a bear in alaska. ktvu channel 2 reporter kraig debro just spoke to the victim's grandmother, kraig. >> reporter: yes, we did. i know they've probably been up most of the night trying to make sure their loved one is okay. the home is just a few minutes from here. i spoke to the grandmother of victor martin. he was victimized in this weekend's bear attack. she said he was taking part of this outing with his high school. the trip was put together by the leadership school, noel they call it and they are based in wyoming. when four of the students made it to the other side of the river they were attacked by the bear. one of the parents of one of the kids in this trip lives in

denver, colorado, he tells us what his child told him about what happened. >> i guess they just came across this bear, sort of startled it, he was in the back. and the boy that was in the front may have gotten the worse of it. they just kind of startled and the bear started going after a bunch of the kids in the group. it got him and knocked him down and bit him. he said the bear bit him then went away and came back. now two of the injuries are described as critical and life threatening. two others are critical but not life threatening. we understand that victor martin is out of the hospital. he is going to be returning tonight. his plane arrives at 10:00 tonight. we're going to go to his grandmother and get further information. this is the 24th day of a 30 day trip up there in alaska. there was no instructor with these kids at the time of this

attack. reporting live from richmond, kraig debro. time now 6:06. it was a violent weekend on the streets of richmond. a search continues now for suspects in a deadly shooting of a 19-year-old man saturday night. police think his death is connected to a dispute between gangs in north and central richmond. this was richmond's 21st homicide of the year. that equals a total for the whole year last year. >> it's really disturbing and lack of regard for human life that we've seen. >> the youth in richmond have to make a decision for themselves to live. not to take a life but to live. >> just last week, richmond policecreated a new gang task force, they are hoping to reverse the deadly trend of violence. police in oakley arrested a suspect in a shooting saturday night that killed one man and injured a teenager. 21-year-old david vargas is now accused of murder. police found omar martinez shot

to death in a car saturday. right near ohara avenue and laurel road. a 16-year-old was also shot. he was air lifted to a hospital. police are searching for two other people they believe were in the car with martinez when he was shot. later this morning, some nummi passengers you will be getting some financial aid. in about two hours, church pastors will be on the t third train platform. they'll be paying for anyone's fare who doesn't have money. this is after the shooting of harding. the money that will be coming out today will be coming from the pastors own pockets. the debt stalemate continues this morning in washington, d.c. coming up at 6:15, we're going to have a live report from our washington, d.c. newsroom with how the u.s. debt impasse is

happening right now the american airlines terminal at new york's john f. kennedy airport is on lock down as police investigate a suspicious package. the port authority of new york says a bomb squad has been sent to inspect that package. port authority police tell us that they are looking for a man who got on a flight to san francisco this morning, they want to talk to him to see if

he is linked to that security breach. but again the american airlines terminal in new york is on lockdown right now and we will continue to update that story. time now 6:14. over seas financial markets are down this morning as the stalled limit talks are raising fears about a u.s. default. allison burns in our washington, d.c. newsroom, on the worldwide crisis. >> reporter: unless congress acts this week to raise the debt limit the u.s. could default for the first time in history. now talks at the white house broke down in spectacular fashion with house speaker john boehner stopping negotiations with president obama. now the republicans and democrats are trying to come up with plans of their own to deal

with the issue. secretary hillary clinton spoke about it just moments ago. >> let me asheer you we understand the stakes. we know how important this is for us and how important it is for you. >> reporter: the plan gaining the most momentum is from senate democratic leader harry reid. it would raise the debt ceiling, cut federal spending and it means the gop demands of no new taxes. a lot of republicans are pushing for a shorter term deal. reporting live from washington, d.c., allison burns, ktvu news. the man who confessed to the attacks that killed 96 people in norway appeared in court this morning. anders breivik asked for an open hearing to explain why he did it. but the judge ordered it would be a closed hearing.

he ordered breivik to be held until his next court appearance. the day before the attack breivik released a 1,500 page manifesto. today search and rescue crews continue to look for more possible victims in the waters off the island where that youth camp was located. at least four people have not been accounted for. there are fears that some people drowns trying to escape the shooter. time now 6:17. norwegians norwegians in the bay area are grieving. many just can't believe this happened in what is known as a peaceful country. >> it's devastating, you just want to cry, you know because

this is such an unusual event for norway. >> an estimated 50,000 norwegians live in northern california. the man that accuses kahn of assaulting her in a new york hotel room speaks out. she told the newsroom that she wants the former monetary leader to go to jail. she says he attacked her. the maid says she only spoke out after questions were raised about her creditability. house democratic leader nancy pelosi wants an ethics investigation into congressman david wu. wu is a congressman from oregon, he's facing allegations of engaging in unwanted sexual behavior toward a woman. nancy pelosi says she will send a formal letter to the ethics

single interest rate for all purchase, balance transfers and cash advances. it doesn't have any fees or interest rates. it will be targeted to people with good credit. here in the bay area the average gas price is a little bit higher with average selling for an average of 3.90 in san francisco. that's actually down a few pennys from this time last month. the wedding bells have been ringing in new york since yesterday for hundreds of same- sex couples. there in the middle, there's mayor michael bloomberg was at one ceremony. but not everybody in new york was celebrating. killer bees and a northern california victim. an attack that has experts talking about whether they are here to stay.

coming up to the willow pass grade. it's 6:24. over a dozen suspicious fires have triggered a man hunt for an arsonist. at least 18 fires have burned apartment buildings, a motor home and several cars since thursday. all of them were set at 3:00 in the morning. several more are usually set shortly thereafter. arson invest investigators are working with police detectives. no one has been hurt in the fires so far. lab tests have confirmed that a 70-year-old man in modesto was attacked bid a swarm of killer bees. jack mcbribe was stung more than 15 times on july 5th during a walk with his dog. exterminators came out later and destroyed four nests of the africanized bees on the same property. the bees did not sting them below the waist. they seemed to aim for his head. >> they came out so fast, there were so many of them. i was trying to bat them away

and i knocked my own glasses off and i fell down. >> reporter: he ran with the bees right behind him. he survived the attack with the help doctors. he says it felt like the worse sunburn he had ever had. more than 700 same-sex couples tied the knot including one very special ceremony officiated by mayor michael bloomberg. >> therefore by the powers vested in my in the state of new york i pronounce you both married. >> the mayor prosided in in

in the marriage of two of his staffers. they have been married for 14 years. and not everybody is happy. there's protests going on. they are trying to have the law allowing same-sex marriages declared unconstitutional. a group of north bay actors is heading to the bay. they're going to perform their act on same-sex marriage. they will be holding the run of their off broad show. their show is called prop eight story. the cast attends various schools in sonoma and marin counties. the two new suspects are due in an l.a. courtroom in just a few hours.

after the dodger-giant's season opener. stow's attacker also quote cut and disabled his tongue and slashed his face. late last week los angeles police arrested and charged two new suspects with the crime. they are 29-year-old louie sanchez and marvin norwood. they're expected to be arranged this morning on one count each of mayhem, assault and battery. los angeles police chief charlie beck announced the arrest of sanchez and norwood. the police asked the media not to release any pictures of the suspects yet because doing so could affect the investigation. the man you see on this video is giovanni ramirez. los angeles police admit they had the wrong guy.

ramirez has been cleared in the case. now meanwhile the two new suspects arrested last week norwood and sanchez remain behind bars, they are being held on $100,000 bail. allie rasmus. time now 6:32, the trial of two middle schoolboys accused of sexually assaulting two girls at a trip are expected in court. now the charges stem from a recent visit to a redwood city park by 20 students from john f. kennedy middle school. investigators claim the boys broke away from the group and then attacked those two girls. a wounded 11-year-old san francisco girl is getting better after being hit by a stray bullet. she was at the apartment of her uncle in the western district on friday. when the bullet smashed through the window and hit her just above the heart. she underwent surgery, she's listed in critical but stable

condition. two teenagers were arrested saturday for the shooting. authorities will release the name of the suspects today. in overnight news an investigation is under way into a deadly shooting in east palo alto. ktvu's jade hernandez has been talking with investigators this morning, jade. >> reporter: we've learned from palo alto police this morning they are looking for witnesses, they have received quite a few tips at their anonymous tips hot line. we want to show you where the shooting happened. it happened at 9:30 at that corner building. the victim police say made its way around the building and died along the sidewalk underneath the building's flood flights. palo alto police are still this morning investigating. we're live at east bay boulevard that turns into donohoe. right now this is what we can tell you. calls came into dispatch around

5:30. when officers arrived they found two hispanic teens. a 19-year-old did not survive the shooting. the other was 18 years old and was taken to the hospital. he is expected to survive. both are palo alto residents. police are not sure how many shots were involved >> there was some talks about a verbal altercation although we haven't confirmed that at this point. the investigation is still kind of fresh, we're still trying to determine what the motive of the shooting was. >> reporter: east palo alto police will hold a press conference at 11:00 to discuss two other deadly shootings last week. all police can say about last week's shooting is there may be a strong possibility there are ties to those other two shootings. now those other two shootings involved a 19-year-old fisher who died, and hugo chavez who

funeral will be held today for john caldwell, the best friend of oscar grant. police are still out there searching for his killer. caldwell was with oscar grant at if fruitvale bart station new year's day 2009 when grant was killed by a former b.a.r.t. police officer. caldwell will be buried right next to oscar grant. trial is set to begin this week for a los gatos woman accused of having sex with a 15- year-old boy. 48-year-old sarah cole was arrested on three felony counts nine months ago. cole made headlines back in 2007 when she survived being hit by an suv that was driven by a drunk driver. her legs were crushed and the community responded by raising money for her and her four sons. the mother of four now faces a maximum of four years in prison if convicted of these charges. a young richmond man is

expected to be back here in the bay area tonight after being attacked by a bear in alaska. he was among seven people on a survivals skill hike when that attack occurred. we'll take you live to richmond to tell you more about what happened when this group came face to face with a mother bear and how that young man is doing this morning. it does look like the nfl lock out is coming to an end. we are learning that an agreement between players and owners was reached early this morning. emily schmidt is joining us right now. i hear you have an agreement. >> reporter: they say play time is over or about to begin. according to nfl.com 3:00 a.m. in the morning is when there

come our way. our fog product, i usually don't show these because i usually don't agree with them. but i agree with it this morning, because there's a lot of fog there. it'll be heading back toward the coast. it doesn't really burn off completely. there's always pockets of sun but it's not picking up to the pockets of sun. by late this evening it's already charging back in. next two days look to be a lot of low clouds, fog, then sunny, breezy to windy. another low comes out of the gulf of alaska, settles into the pacific northwest. that just lifts that fog up and with that west wind it flies over the coastal hills. that's an interesting satellite. there's nothing there. low clouds, sunny, breezy. the low clouds and fog though again looks like they'll start to get a little smashed here later in the week because the

held in complete isolation for four weeks. a richmond man will be back in the bay area tonight after being attacked by a bear in alaska. ktvu's kraig debro joins us now. we understand you just spoke to his grandmother about 30 minutes ago and you have more information on the attack. >> reporter: right, the grandmother we spoke with the grandmother about 30 minutes ago as you said. she lives about 15 minutes away from here. victor martin was heavily sedated at the time they spoke yesterday. i understand he is out of the hospital. she did not get a chance to speak in detail on what happened. we understand he is out of the hospital following this terrible ordeal which happened in alaska on the tolkeepna mountains. the group of seven were taking part of a survivals course. three or four students had made

almost 11,000 acres. started thursday on the los coyotes indian reservation. it's now 40% contained. so far no one has been hurt, no buildings have burned, we still have no idea how that fire began. >> all right, 6:49 is the time right now. back over to sal as we check in on traffic. >> all right pam and dave. right now traffic is doing pretty well. it is getting a little bit slower around the bay. let's go out and take a look at 80 westbound. you can see the elsier freeway. you can see an accident at the top of the screen. that accident has been cleared away from the freeway. you can still tell we have slow traffic there. it was slow for a while. so traffic at the toll plaza is lighter because people are being held up. it seems like it's unwinding now and all the lanes are open. traffic is getting better. let's move along and take a look at highway 4 in antioch you can see slow traffic in
