indication. we didn't wipe them out yesterday, they decided to hang out by the coast yesterday. the high pressure is putting on the air brakes and yesterday will translate into today. 60s, 70s 80s or 90s. fog the way to sun, mild for some, warm for others. maybe too hot for some, i understand. the breeze is picking up slightly. 60s, not much change for san francisco. or oakland. but then santa rosa 82. san jose 83. fairfield, morgan hill, okay, in the 90s, but overall, temperatures close to yesterday's numbers. and now heres asal. traffic is doing well around the bay area. let's take a look at that time gelden gate bridge. a little bit -- look at the golden gate bridge area. it's going to be a little bit of a visibility problem as you drive. also this morning highway 4, it's nice and clear here. as you drive up to the willow

pass grade. not a big problem here. and on interstate 880, right near 29th, they've been doing road work there. but the traffic is so light, not really causing a major problem. it's 4:30. back to the desk. new this morning, an airline pilot attacked on a flight from miami that just landed hours ago in san francisco. we are at sfo this morning with what witnesses are saying about this incident and a new photo if the scene many miami. >> reporter: well, the plane coming in from miami arrived here a few hours ago. one passenger called this say mishap. in tend, two men were arrested. we have video this morning of the passengers arriving here. a few of those passengers were still talking about what delayed their arrival to san francisco. a spokesperson said flight 1755 was taxiing out for take-off

when a disruptive passenger situation escalated, pushing the pilot to turn back to the gate. as crew members were leaving to refile paper work, the male passenger got into a scuffle with the pilot which led to four fellow passengers helping to subdue the rowdy passenger. the pilot was not seriously hurt. paramedics treated him at the airport, but he had to be replaced for the next flight. and a couple of men helped subdued the passenger until police could make arrests. >> they were acting really suspicious and like they were drunk. and bothering other passengers and so then, we left to go to take-off. and then the pilot brought the plane back. >> they were escorting the gentlemens off the plane. as they got through the side door there, one of them actually struck the pilot right in had his face. that's when everybody jumped up. >> reporter: one of the

passengers took pictures of the arrest. he was on the plane from miami. we spoke to him by phone this morning. we understand at the time of the incident, he was among 178 passengers and six crew members onboard at the time of this incident. american airlines says the fbi, tsa and local police were involved in miami. reporting live here at sfo, channel 2 news. two men are behind bars this morning after leading police on a marathon car chase across the east bay. our cameras caught the chase as it happened on highway 880 in oakland last night. take a look, officers finally arrested the two men on a freeway south of stockton after a 100-mile chase. at first, authorities thought they were fugitives, maybe wanted for homicides in both colorado. they later learned that the car they were in was registered is

to one of the suspects. attorneys for the man wrongly accused in the beating of brian stow are asking a judge to release him from prison. they claim the parole board gave in to political and public pressure surrounding the brutal beating of the giants fan outside dodgers stadium. he was held on a weapons violation for months while never being formally charged for the stow attack. last week, los angeles police publicly exonerated him while arrest announcing the arrest of the two other two men. fg and e will -- starting today, pg and e will begin digging up a pipe. it goes through the neighborhood that was devastated in last year's explosion. they says it has sat enactive in the ground since the 19 others. but it had to be dug up as part of the investigation of the disaster, but they have not

said exactly why. one of the two men suspected of killing an oakland mother and setting her body on fire will be in court today. the 31-year-old hector garcia faces kidnapping charges in the killing of the victim. although no motive has been released. now her mother tells us that she will be in court to face garcia for the first time. yesterday, she gave a speech to teenagers in oakland asking for the violence to stop. prosecutors say garcia and another man killed her before dumping and burning her body in north oakland earlier this month and both are suspected gang members. today some bay area police officers officially become some of the state's first cry international space station intervention team special -- crisis -- some of the state's first crisis team specialist.

one bart officer says he was especially interested in the lesson about deescalating threats. officers have been involved in two high-profile shootings in the past two years. and they say the training could have helped in both situations. the final stage of the bankruptcy hearings is set to take place today. the city is due in court this morning to outline how it plans to repay creditors affected by the filing. most creditor reportedly support the plan -- report -- most creditors reportedly support the plan. the plan could be in effect by next month. today the house of representatives is expected to vote on john boehner's debt ceiling plan. but some in boehner's own party say they'll not vote for the party because it does not cut spending enough. economists are warning a far

reaching consequences if congress does not act to raise the debt limit by the august 2nd deadline. >> everybody's interest rates would go way up, car loan, home mortgages, credit cards, business loans, all of that. and it would likely throw the whole economy into another recession. >> some democrats are urging president barack obama to raise the debt limit through an executive order citing the 14th amendment, but the white house says that's off the table and congress needs to send him a bill. a san jose man is being called a hero this morning after rescuing two people who nearly drowned. it happened in a housing complex on miller avenue. a 44-year-old man and his 6- year-old daughter were swimming last night when they began to drown. a good samaritan noticed them and dove in to save them. he pulled them out of the water

and performed cpr. both are expected to be okay. skate bordering regulations will be reviewed today after the death of an elderly woman. the 83-year-old died earlier this month after a teenager on a skate board accidentally hit her. now her grand daughter is now asking the city council for improved enforcement and education about skate boarding. the city council will discuss possible changes to bike regulations at tonight's meeting. lane changes in one san jose neighborhood could affect the commute for some drivers. today sections of 4th and st. james streets north of downtown will be converted from one way into two-way roads. it's an effort to slow drivers down, add more bike lanes and improve pedestrian safety. now federal studies show a decline in crashes involving pedestrians when they were crossing a street with fewer lanes.

cooler as another weak area of low pressure settles in. we start off with 50s and 60s. 54 in san francisco. upper 50s, few low 60s in there. west, southwest at fairfield, 15 miles per hour. yesterday it was about 12 miles per hour. not a big deal, but fact that it's picking up and also the southwest wind at napa and santa rosa, that's an indicater that they won't be that warm. only in the 80s or 70s for some. napa airport only 79. high pressure hanging on, but the western edge is over the valley, so they warm up. fog, some again dealing with the thick and low clouds. mild for some. cool for others. but warm to hot depending on your closeness to the coast or marine layer. 82 santa rosa. 78 redwood city. concord 89. so morgan hill, yes, hot. and clear lake, that's hot. but going to stay right here.

good morning. low clouds give way and some of that is actually in the form of fog. especially on the golden gate. not much changes. yesterday's temperatures are pretty much what's going to happen today. 60s and 70s closer to the beach. new information about the cause of the eagle fire still burning in san diego county. fire investigators now say it was started intentionally. the fire started on the indian reservation one week ago. so far, fire agencies have spent $11 million trying to put it out. and it's just about 65% contained. authorities plan to release further details about the arson and the cause when the investigation is complete. police in los angeles will survey the damage today left

behind by an unruly crowd outside a hollywood movie screening. the trouble started with an unauthorized block party yesterday evening. riot police were called out when the crowd refused to leave. some people threw rocks and bottles and two people were arrested for felony vandalism, but no one was injured. the republican presidential candidate herman cane is now apologizing to muslim leaders for remarks he made about islam. he said that communities have a right to ban islamic mosques. he also said he would not want a muslim as part of his cabinet. but yesterday, after meeting with muslim leaders in virginia, he said that he was, quote, truly sorry for his comments. a group has filed a lawsuit to prevent a cross made up from steel from the world trade center from going up. it would be on display at the

memorial that opens this later this year. the group says the inclusion of the cross violates the separation of church and state. and it argues that it must other groups to include their displays of equal size. a superior court judge is expected to issue a ruling that would strike a measure if the november ballot proposing a ban on circumcision in san francisco. the judge said only the state can regulate medical procedure, not a particular city. opponents of circumcision call it unnecessary and painful. jewish and muslim groups filed lawsuits against the ban saying it would be an infringement on their religious freedom. friends and family of the missing nursing student are continuing their search for answers. >> hope never gives us up on us, we give up on it. please keep hope with us. >> last night they held a rally, marching to the last

the host of a popular tv game show is set to undergo surgery tomorrow after putting his personal safety in jeopardy. he showed up on crutches to host an event at google's headquarters yesterday after a bizarre incident early tuesday morning. he said this he injured his leg chasing a burglary suspect out of his hotel room at the marriott. investigators say the woman stole several item, but they were recovered near a hotel ice machine. >> personal item, jewelry, things like that. those items were recovered, i believe cash was not recovered. >> security agents immediately nabbed the suspect identified as a 56-year-old of san francisco. she is due in court later today. he will be on crutches for the next six weeks. this morning, a nearly $200 million loss in the latest quarter. the tokyo-based entertainment

electronics company says it was hurt by the earthquake in march, a massive online security breech and rapidly falling television price affected the bottom line, but it expects to post a profit for the full year. it has posted annual losses the last three years though. a new report shows foreclosure activity is down across most of the country. realty track says 84% of the largest metro areas saw foreclosure rates fall during the first half of this year compared to 2010. but that's not because of a rebound from the housing crisis. instead, banks are slower to move against home owners behind on their mortgages. a consumer group is planning to protect the smart meter program today. the group called stop smart meters plans to attend this morning's california public utilities commission meeting in san francisco. the group claims smart meters

2020. now scientists are concerned about hazardous space junk coming off the aging space station when it's retired. it has been in operation since 1998. well, we are now hearing from the woman credited for stopping a bike thief in san francisco. from her window, her co-worker saw a man pull a cable cutter from his bag and attempt to steal a bike. she told bell what was happening and she ran outside to stop him. she has asked us not to show her face. >> i put my leg right in front of his tire and then i could grab ahold of the bars and that's what fell or made him lose his balance. >> she says the man kept saying he was sorry as he walked away. a security guard tried to stop the bike thief as well. but the man pulled out a knife and then escaped. police say in -- escaped. police say many the scuffle, he dropped the key to his own bike. the wayward whale in the

river we have been telling you about is drawing a lot of fans and supporters. the fully grown female has been in the fresh water there for at least a month now. she was originally spotted with her baby, but now they believe that the younger whale has found its way back out to the ocean. the mother may still be looking for her baby has she swims in circles under the bridge. >> looking down, oh my god. >> the experts say that the whale is showing feeding behaviors, so she is in no immediate danger, but they worry if she stays for a few more weeks, there isn't enough and the water could become too shallow for her. >> hopefully they can get her out of there. coming up on 5:00, let's get to work if they have to leave as early, well later than we do, but it's early. >> people leave, i've had people say they watch for a half hour and they have to go and some for a longer time than

coast. a stable pattern. very stable pattern. 90s well inland. 80s and 90s. the fog though is not going anywhere. still right there on the coast, makes a push inland and then peels back. we know the drill. shallow around 1,000 feet. needs to be over 2,000 feet to get over the coastal hills. the storm track stays to the north. however, every model under the sun says next week will be cooler. another low starts to develop in and our temperatures come down. so this brief warm-up, exactly like clock work, three or four days and then backs off. 50s on the temperatures now. couple low 60s, redwood city in there. 54 napa. 55 oakland. a little hint of a westerly breeze, stronger today. not a big deal, but stronger than yesterday. leads me to believe what happened yesterday temperature- wise will probably carry over into today. the moisture continues to rotate down. it's far south. and it affects southern
