>> it is thursday, july 28th. >> two men were removed from a san francisco bound plane, after attacking them in miami. >> we learned from miami police that the plane was delayed because one of the two men did not have his seat belt on when they were about to take off. one of the flight attendants tried to arouse him but to no avail. the man was believed to be drunk or high on drugs, so she contacted authorities immediately. four passengers were forced to subdue at least one of the men last night. these are the mug shots this morning much the police said they tried to awake baez.

we have pictures of the citizens detaining one of the baezs before the arrest. the flight was taxiing for takeoff when the situation's escalated. the two unruly men who spoke little english and seemed to be acting strange got into a heated discussion. >> they were acting erratic, suspicious, like they were drunk. we left to take off. the pilot brought the plane back. >> then they walked out and were escorted. they were arguing with the captain. they did not want to leave, did not want to get off the plane. one of the guys punched the captain in the eye. >> the pelt wasn't serious -- piment -- pilot wasn't seriously

hurt but had to be replaced. the plane was supposed to land several hours earlier. there were 176 passengers and six crew members who were onboard. police eventually made the arrests. >> all right. we apologize for those audio problems. there was more on air trouble. a woman was arrested when her plane landed in philadelphia. she is facing conduct of disorderly conduct. police are looking for four or five men involved in a takeover styled robbery. robbers stormed in yesterday morning. they ordered people to get on the ground, jumped over the

counters and emptied out the cash drawers. at one point an employee yelled to someone to call police. one of the robbers got into a fight with a security guard. the men were described as african-american wearing hooded sweatshirts. >> the city may be sued over a $35,000 cost cutting demotion. the city voted to eliminate two captain positions and five other positions after the union failed to agree to contract concession. that would save about $450,000 a year. that demoted captain seers to a lieutenant and a pay cut effective yesterday. the interim chief recommended that the captain positions be cut. if he's in the hired as a permanent chief, he too could be

demoted to lieutenant. we go to san bruno. >> reporter: in about an hour crews will begin remove of the pipe. there is construction equipment on scene. the pipe has been inactive since the mid-1950s. documents contained information about clogged wells. it was the cpuc that ordered the company to start digging up the abandoned sections of pipe. in the report released last night, a retired pentagon engineer talked about the fatally flawed gas pipe. it was unclear if that line was the one that ruptured last

september or the one being removed today or another one all together. the pipe will be turned over to investigators. it begins at 8:00. it will take about two days. when they start doing it, we'll bring it live to you thanks. a los gatos accused of having sex with a boy was in court. the boy testified that they had sex 30 or 40 times. it contradirected testimony last year when he said they had same two times. the mother of four face as maximum of four years in prison. a tragic accident in lake county left a 3-year-old dead.

even though most asian numbers closed down. european markets dropped 1% across the board. you can see the dow jones up almost 40 points to 12,341. while there's still uncertainty over the debt ceiling negotiations and that vote, we're talking about the latest jobless report. the latest weekly numbers provided a little room for optimism. this was much better than most economists expected. the number filing first time claims, 15,000 less than forecasted. dipping below 400,000 is considered a sign of an improving job market. the number of continuing claims dropped a bit, still at 3.7 million. something that is affecting the market in both directions

they were fugitives but later learned the car was registered to one of the suspects. a man accused of beating a fan wants to be released. it was the brian stow beating ramirez was held for months on a weapon's violation while never being charged. last week los angeles police publicly cleared ramirez while announcing the arrest of two other men. one of them is marvin norwood. he has a long rap sheet including spousal abuse in 2006. he finished a domestic violence program two years ago. norwood and louis sanchez are

still behind bars. it appears ed lee has changed his mind. he is expected to announce next week that he will run for san francisco mayor after all. that would give him more than enough time to meet the deadline. he was appointed to replace gavin newsom, but it has picked up stee. recently san francisco mayor and senator feinstein urged lee to run. this morning a superior court rouge will issue a ruling that will -- in a ruling the judge said only the state can regulate medical procedures not a city. opponents call this unnecessary and painful. jewish and muslim groups filed a lawsuit against the ban saying it would be an infringement on religious freedom. a consumer group planning to

city of vallejo has the last bankruptcy hearing. the plan details when, how and how much the city will repay its creditors. most of vallejo's creditors support the plan. foreclosure activity is down across the country. realty track said 80% of the largest metropolitan areas saw foreclosure rates fall. the company said that's not because of a rebound from the housing crisis, but banks are slower to move. earlier this month san francisco police towed several cars away from dangerous trees. the problem trees are located on claireen. heavy wind and rain this spring may cause those trees to become weak and fall on cars or homes.

passengers headed to san francisco from miami -- the reaction from the passengers who finally made it top san francisco early this morning. >> reporter: passengers aboard an american airlines flight arrived here two hours late. when passengers landed here at sfo, they had quite a story to tell. in fact, jonathan and luis baez were aboard that plane. they were taken into authority by miami authorities where the american airlines flight attendant could not wake 27-year-old jonathan baez to fasten his seat belt the land in notified the pilot who redirected the plane. one of the men threatened the pilot and jumped him as he walked behind them to make sure they left the plane. >> they were acting erratic, suspicious, like they were drunk and bothering other passengers,

welcome back. santa clara sheriff's deputies are investigating the suspicious death of two people. the bodies were found in the 14000 block of clara street. this is not far from los gatos. we have very few details. we'll keep you posted and have more details as soon as we get them in. starting today pg&e will start digging up an abandoned pipe on the order of state regulators. the pipe was laid down in 1948, stretches through the san bruno neighborhood that was devastated in last crier's devastation. pg&e said that pipe has been sitting there inactive since the pipe was relocated in the 1950s.

it was a dramatic scene on a flight from miami to san francisco. some of the passengers are telling you their story. the american airlines flight arrived at sfo late and without two of its passengers. miami list had to i rest them. >> got into a verbal argument. they walked out and were escorted. they were arguing with the captain. they did not want to leave or get off the plane. one of the guys punched the captain right in the high. that's when the captain backed up. all the other guys from the airplane started getting in on it. >> reporter: these pictures were taken by passengers. the flight had 178 passengers and six crew members.
