hope congress acts before the music stops tuesday. rita williams. >> new, california's presidential primary is moving from february to june next year to savor the state monday yes. the governor signed a bill making official. it is expected to save california $100 million. it means the statewide primary and presidential primary will take place on the same day. it's a reversal from a few years ago when california tried to increase the political clout by moving it's primary to super tuesday in february. >> the man first named as the suspect in the beating of brian stow is speak out tonight. he was cleared last week for the attack after two other men were arrested. many are president is in state prison on a parole violation but released a statement. >> he states that more than anything i'm upset, not for myself but for the grief and

. a fresh as the result fresh start for vallejo. we are live and tell you what it could mean for the future. >> reporter: i got a copy of the 81 page plan that they submitted to the court and tonight we talked to both residents and city employees about the city finally being able to come out of this financial emergency. at a fundraiser downtown many residents kicked up their heels and said they are relieved the finances are getting back on track. >> i'm glad that vallejo is coming out of it. >> reporter: the group is a grass roots community organization. >> vallejo filed for it a lot of the community resources os have lost money for funding. >> reporter: the city declared chapter 9 in may of 2008 after tax revenue fell with the housing crash leaving them strapped to find enough money

for payroll and other obligations. >> its been a -- a tough couple years. >> reporter: today the police officers association vice president said he hopes the deal will let the city rehire officers. >> we are just hoping that the financial situation of the city will get in a position where we can provide better service for the citizens. >> reporter: the deal did come with union connections including pay cuts re. >> sort like a revival. we have come through the rough roads and now it's back on track. >> reporter: the mayor said today that now with the city financing somewhat stabilized the city will be getting additional grant money that will help them hire back three police officers and nine firefighters in the coming months. the judge is expected to sign off on the plan next week. reporting live in vallejo. >> two men are under arrest

after a police chase in oakland. officers saw a man wanted for assault driving near 72nd avenue and international boulevard just before 5:00. they tried to pull him over but say the suspect sped away. officers pursued him onto northbound interstate 880. it ended with officers boxed in his car. he was arrested along with another passenger. police say's found a gun that one of them threw out of the car's window. we know the name of the man who died in a crash after another police chase in oakland. authorities say the 19-year-old pedro hernandez was ejected from his car on wednesday morning on interstate 880. he was not wearing a seatbelt. officers were chasing him after seeing him driving erratically. they found open alcohol in his car. >> pg&e crews worked on an unusual dig in san bruins are. they are looking for clues to

help prevent another pipeline explosion. they are looking at a piece of pipe that used to be connected to the one that blew up. they say they want the pipe looked at to prevent more failures. >> taking a look at it and removing about eight foot section and running a camera through a pipe that was abandoned. >> pg&e had expected to complete that today. instead crews said it'll be done tomorrow. the camera will then be put into the pipe to inspect the welds and look for any defects. >> the attorney for northern california is looking at a major bust of marijuana operations in the emerald triangle. authorities arrested more than a hundred people and destroyed 460 marijuana plants during the two week operation. the raids took place in the nationaller toest.

that area spans 6 counties and is called the emerald trian ge because it's home to a large number of pot farms. police are found shell casings in the hills above morago. this video was from tuesday when they were searching for a person who took shots at a parked police officer. yesterday authorities reported finding a marijuana field in the same area. the gunman was never located and it's not clear if the shooting is connected to the marijuana crop. the officer was not hurt. >> 2000 people gathered to say good-bye to the off duty deputy shot and killed when he went to help a friend. we attended the service and share the stories. >> reporter: a procession, a salute, a sendoff for one of marin county as fine e.. >> anything you needed done he

national headlines after being fired as santa clause is dead. he was found in a residential hotel on market street. he delighted children for 20 years as santa. the store fired him for telling what they called an inappropriate joke. he was then hired at another store. police say it appears he died of natural causes. he was 69 years old. >> it has been a family favorite for 30 years. >> it'll soon be harder to find a place to roll in the south bay. the end of an era. >> the first new video into the newsroom, a speeding van roll over and plows in to other vehicles. see what happened next. >ú

. we have new video of a van that hit a number of cars before rolling over. it happened just after 6:30 at 102nd avenue and walnut street. police say the van you see was speeding when it hit the cars and finally stopped after it overturned. the three people jumped out and tried to run. they were all arrested shortly after. officers say the van may have been stolen which may explain why they tried to get away. a firefighter is recovering after being hurt on the job. the fire started about 5:20 at a warehouse near the oakland emoryville city line. a firefighter cut his hand on glass but his injuries weren't serious. it took about an hour to put out the fire. septemberors say over heated equipment likely caused the fire. damage is a round $70,000. investigators say this fire in walnut creek last week started in or near a stove but was not cooking related. they are looking if the stove

had a malfunction. it started a week ago tonight. everybody made it out safely but eight units were damaged and two million dollars of damage was caused. >> special washing machines for the san francisco fire department are gathering dust in a warehouse. rob roth finds why its not being used. >> reporter: last december we reported that the san francisco fire department had received five new industrial strength washing machines that spin so fast they push out toxic items from clothing. the money was donate bid the san francisco firefighters cancer prevention foundation. this was the first and last time they were used. today we found them on an upper shelf in a warehouse most still in boxes. >> it's frustrating and i want to get things going to actually have them. >> reporter: lieutenant anita

prattly is a veteran firefighter and a breast cancer survivor. the cancer rates among the ranks is rising. >> when i was swearing in i never -- protect me from fires, please stay safe but i never thought about cancer until i was in the hospital. >> reporter: officials say they haven't been able to install the washers because the wiring in the city's aging fire houses won't support them, upgrading them is expensive. >> if we paid for installation, for the machines to the stations that would exceed the amount of money that we have in our budget for each station. >> reporter: currently firefighters send their dirty uniforms to a cleaning service for decontamination. they say they would prefer the unused washing machines. >> the right thing is to dive in, find the money and install it as soon as possible. >> reporter: the fire department said it plans to renovate many of the fire houses and that includes

and killed. he was killed by fellow rebels who suspected him of treason. now thousands of protesters demanding the former president stand trial. the trial will start next wednesday but some fear it won't happen. he resigned after thousands of protesters took over in cairo. in london a man who threw a shaving cream pie at murdock plead guilty today. he confronted murdock as he testified on the phone hacking scandal. he is scheduled to be sentenced next tuesday. he could face prison. as he left court he said this has been the most humble day of my life. >> concern is you growing for two sea lions missing from pier39.

taking over. it's growing so fast it can triple in size on a hot day. john fowler says what's boeing imported from the amazon to try to stop it. >> reporter: for a decade delta has choked with these, a beautiful but invader from south america. we found this boat crew spraying, had erbicide, a huge task. the plant is almost unstoppable. >> it'll completely take over. it'll be nothing but a solid mat. >> reporter: the superintendent ricky carter and his associate are trying to beat the delta heat, heat that fuels their shocking growth. >> every hundred degree day they will double and triple in size. >> reporter: it clogs water intakes for farms so ranch everies spend $1,500 a week just in this small area keeping them in check. there the last few days

before that and then -- overnight lows in the 50s. i have fog up in to the oakland hills and shooting over, i have fog up in san rafael and out toward napa. good cover rain rage and that usually means you start off cooler, end up cooler. the fog foot print for the 7:00 a.m. forecast is you head out the door with the kids, to soccer or whatever you have going on you will find cool temperatures, you will need jackets as well. goes right back to the coast just like this afternoon. there is heat in the valley but you come this way and it's a nice sea breeze and you can see the temperature bands, how much that air filters in to the bay. for this time of year, this especially tire fire season, has been really light because of that pattern. thunderstorms showing up around the lake tahoe area. monsoonal moisture, look where it's coming from? from the southwest. from the gulf and it's working
