streets are where we are now, there's still an active scene out here as the investigation continue of the fatal stabbing. the area that you are looking at, beyond the patrol cars, where you see orange crime scene tape. that is part of san jose high school. the victim was found somewhere on the grounds next to the football field and the high school. the police received a call for help just after 2:00 this morning. and when they got here they did a search of the park and found the man dead he had been stabbed. this is a very residential area. it's next to the park, a football field and san jose high school here. so far police say they have not identified any suspects. they do not know the age or identity of the victim yet and the they do not know the motive of the stabbing or what worked up to it.

san jose police are investigating a fatal stabbing. a person was, a body was discovered on the grounds of the park. this is the 28th homicide of the year. we will have an update a half an hour from now. right now, chp investigators are at the scene of an accident that shut down part of 880 overnight. the chp said two cars were involved in the crash, officers are investigating the possibility that alcohol may have been a factor. the condition of the people involved has not yet been released. family and friends of two u.c. berkeley graduates are awaiting a verdict. the foreign minister said that he hopes what the verdict will lead to the release of the two

graduates. their attorney said the man along with sarah shore accidently strayed into iran's border. nato said two people were killed in the north and two in the south. no more details. the attack comes one day after officials say the taliban shot down a helicopter with dozens of u.s. forces. this morning, we are hearing that there's fighting this morning and it's not clear who it is that is fighting but

of possible risk months before the san bruno explosion. they were briefed about potentials two months before the disaster. the risk management group filed a report last july calling the gas safety program weak. they gave pg&e poor marks in several areas including maintenance of gas pressure regulating equipment. pg&e said is that the report was an effort to identify risks and develop action plans. pg&e is scheduled to start testing the gas lines this up coming week in palo alto and residents may notice noise and smell of gas. the project is expected to begin tomorrow and tuesday and will continue for two months. pg&e said is that hoped to to testing on pipeline by the end of december but the testing was taking longer than anticipated

and it may not be finished by the end of the year. a southern california police officer is exciting for his life after someone drove up to his -- is fighting for his life after someone drove up to his car and shot him. he is in critical condition. a suspect was tracked to a nearby apartment complex, that was where the suspect was fatally shot by police. hundreds of people protested to demand justice for a homeless man that died after an encounter with police. officers say that that thomas was combative and it ended with the 37-year-old man dieing of severe head and neck injuries. rangers have recovered a body of a man that was swept over a water fall in yosemite

mexican officials say a high ranking police official is dead after his car was fired upon. it happened near an american high school. saturday football practice and a volley ball scrimmage was taking place when the violence broke out. you hear about it and then it hits close to home, it sets you straight. >> no students were hurt but everyone was ordered inside until the school got an all clear. brads at the the university of alabama got the chance to walk in a cap and gown, more than three months after a tornado postponed their graduatation. >> 3,300 received their diplomas. six university of alabama students were among those kills in the tornado.

another homicide overnight in a city that has seen a sharp increase in crime. >> good morning and welcome in. it's sunday august 7th. police are on the scene of a deadly stabbing that happened at a neighborhood park at 19th and santa clara streets. we talked to investigators and allie is at the scene with more on the investigation. >> this is the --thiss is the city's 28th homicide of the

year. this area behind us where we are standing is where police discovered the body of a man that was stabbed. this is roosevelt park that you are looking at. the bleachers you see, it is part of the football field for san jose high school. the body of the victim was found to other side of the bleachers which is the dividing line, the border for roosevelt park not on the school football field. this started after 2:00 this morning. there are crime scene investigatorsors gathering investigators. police do not know his age identity yet and they do not know the circumstances that led up to the shooting. we will continue to remain out here and gather more

information on this homicide. well san jose police chief has been on the job for about six months, he has been out of town on business 12 times. the news reports that the chief's 12 trips add up to 31 days and 9 of those trips took him all the way to washington d.c., he is defending his travel. oakland mayor is taking out of town business trips. a dozen trips taken the first six months in office. the total cost, $10,000. the former mayor spent $60,000 on travel in one year. a spokesman said that her position requires travel from time to time. the race for san francisco mayor can take a turn. mayor ed lee will take out

funded by pg&e, it's funded by american recovery and reinvestment act. rebates will be available until next march. firefighters in riverside county are trying to get control of a fast moving brush fire, the fire has burned at least 450-acres. it started at 4:00 p.m. and then quickly spread yesterday. 50 motorists were rapped when the fire jumped a freeway. the fire is 35% contained and the cause is under investigation. new software for a tsa body scanner. it can be found at one more u.s. airport. it's the latest to receive the software. instead of a detailed view of a body a tsa agent gets a cartoon outline to see where they should check. some passengers said the old software is not a problem.
