charred bedroom furniture and if you take a look at that middle window on the top floor, that is where firefighters say the fire broke out. firefighters got the call around 11:30 last night and when they arrived, they had two people under accounted for so they had to move fast to rescue those trapped inside. >> one was an elderly woman and her caretaker. they located them and brought them out. >> now both women had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and second degree burns. they tell us the two may be in serious condition. investigators were out here, they have not officially said what sparked this fire. crews said flames were sparked possibly by cigarettes. k tv u channel news.

vallejo police are investigating a man who was shot while driving. they responded at 8:40 on sonoma boulevard. the driver had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. he has been identified as joseph pitter. one man is fighting for his life this morning. it happened around midnight. go agunman opened fire on a man inside a car. he is now listed in critical condition. there is no word which led up to that gunfire but the shooting may be tied to a nearby robbery. we are on economy watch, it is shaping up to be another volatile day for stocks. the u.s. credit rating was lowered from a aaa for the first time ever. right now european benchmarks

jail in iran. yesterday iran's ambassador dashed those hopes saying investigators are still investigating this case. they arrested them near the iraqi border and they claim they were just hiking and iran said they were just spying. iran released her after she reported health problems. they are set for city hall. they are expected to declare he is running for a full year term as a san francisco mayor. it means he breaks his promise not to run in november which sealed his appointment as interim mayor seven months ago. he said he has since changed his mind and he feels he is the best person to run the city. he faced his opponents and lee is expected to take part in a can date's forum.

the long list of candidates includes david sha as well as state senator leyland lee. it was close call for homeowners when a fast moving fire quickly spread out of control. the fire started near the community park. as it burned with in feet of these homes, firefighters called in extra support from vallejo and fairfield. the location made the fire difficult to control. >> our temperatures were good, they were fairly low and humidity was high. those were working in our favor, the significant factor was topography. >> firefighters were able to control the fire before any homes were damaged. in total it did burn about ten acres. nobody was injured and the cause of the fire is still

maze. 280 traffic looks good getting up to highway 17. going to steve now? the fog and even some drizzle we have been tracking measurable drizzle up the san mateo coast and foggy drizzle near the bay and around the shoreline as well. here is the latest fog pattern. we have quite a bit of coverage up towards santa rosa san jose. we have some clearing in fairfield and the same deal for antioch. as far as current numbers, monday morning right around 60 degrees. mountain view and concord in the upper 50s and last reporting 54 degrees. our forecast model shows it is still a bit stubborn right around san francisco. here we have this afternoon at

12:00 later on this afternoon and even by 6:00 this evening it will push back into the bay as we head into the evening hours. here is a quick forecast, areas of fog right around 60 degrees, sun cloud mix and still some coastal overcast, partly and mostly cloudy skies. a touch warmer but no significant warming, livermore right around 80, san jose mid- 70s. san francisco in the lower 60s. here is a look ahead. temperatures will be trending up just a little bit especially inland and with your weekend in view still 80s for the interior. the beaches could be up into the middle 60s. 4:40 is the time right now, the event that sparked a violent weekend in london.

. more than 160 people have been arrested. 35 police officers were hurt after being attacked by groups of young people. vehicles were set on fire, shops were looted. it was sparked by anger over a fatal police shooting. well this morning the california highway patrol is investigating an accident that killed a man. 5:30 yesterday afternoon a dodge magnum flipped over and hit a tree. the 19-year-old driver was the only one in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

he was handicapped and there is no word on what caused that car to crash. san francisco is cracking down on the south of market area. officers on foot and cars and on motorcycles will be enforcing pedestrian laws. on saturday, volunteers handed out flyers to raise pedestrian awareness and prepared crews for increased presence. at&t is said to be slowly recovering. ryan white was hit by a pickup truck after the giants game last thursday. he is still in critical condition and is reportedly making small improvements. andrew varice guess was arrested after that accident. he is expected in court after dwi and felony hit-and-run charges. a shooting death of an

officer, he died yesterday after a gunman shot him in the face on saturday. it happened while he sat in his patrol car at a red light. 293-year-old suspect opened -- 23-year-old suspect opened fire at an in and out hamburger. >> he had no contact with the person who shot him and jeremy had no indication he was in danger in any way. this was an as nation by somebody. -- assassination by somebody. >> police shot and killed the 23-year-old suspect. the suspect did leave a suicide note but it does not explain how or why he wanted to take his own life. they are trying to make sense of a deadly ram paint. friends and family came together for a vigil for the man who was killed by a gunman.

he ran home and shot five people and then shot two other people and one person survived. police later killed that suspect in a gunfight. back here in the area pg&e. said the work is not expected to affect gas service but customers may smell gas as the lines are vented. the testing of 15 two miles of pipeline was taking longer than anticipated and was taking longer than had hoped. there is new evidence they understood how dangerous it was before the pipelines deadly explosion. two months before the explosion they briefed them about unacceptable risks and weakness

fog. you can see a big blanket but some clearing out by the delta even some drizzle showing up. mike is back in full force with the beaches only in the upper 50s to right around 60 degrees. san francisco approaching lower 60s heading across the bay warming up as you would expect, inland temperatures back up to the upper 70s possibly the lower 80s especially out towards 83 degrees. we have been talking a lot about the fog coming in basically deep ending the marine layer. we will warm things up especially for the anterior and that trends will continue for the next few days. 55 to 60 degrees by 12:00 a sun cloud mix. upper ever 0s for closet tall
