be 80 westbound looks good coming around the corner. 6:00 let's go back to the desk. we are starting our 6:00 hour breaking news coming from san francisco, paul claimers is at the -- chambers is at the scene of a fire which started about an hour ago in the city's ash berry district, paul, what is happening? >> reporter: it was at the people's cafe but the fire crew thinks it may have been a nearby store. they found the fire was actually at the clothing store and the crews think it is in -- it is in a common area in the clothing store. this is what the fire chief had to say about the fire. >> it went into the attic space and towards the delta building on the right. there is a common area and we

are still checking the fire extension at this time. >> reporter: there are about 68 people out here looking for hot spots and other areas and it is still under investigation and they are not exactly sure what the cause of the fire is. as of right now in sonoma, we are not sure how it will affect your morning commute and of course i will let you know as i find out but the crews are still working the fire and we are told nobody was injured and there were people who came outside just incase because there was a lot of smoke in this area. we will bring the very latest, paul chambers ktvu channel 2 news. oakland police are vowing to track down everybody involved in the tragic killing of a three-year-old boy. a gang shooting led to the killing of three-year-old carlos nava. they have a person of interest

they are taking three from the house and three from the senate. the senate democrats are in place and nancy pelosi will announce her choice and they have to come up with a vote in congress by christmas. it is hurting pension funds this week but none are bigger than calipers which lost 18 billion since last months. the state may have to curtail contribution if the economy continues to decline. last year they lost 30,000 employees who retired. it appears to have been an accident not a crime. the father and son were tossed into the water when a yacht went into the san francisco bay last wednesday. 38-year-old man was killed but his father survived.

time later she received the call and it displayed the police department's number but when she called the police department herself, the scam was exposed. sports fans are cheering the kickoff of yet another pro season football game tonight. this evening's game comes a couple of weeks after the settlement that ended the four- month old lock out. you can see tonight's raider cardnal game on our sister station. they will be airing the game on taped delay beginning a 9:00 p.m. >> time is now 6:19 and traffic has not been that bad. >> we will start off in the south bay this morning and look at highway 17 getting into the area and as you can see traffic continues to look good and no major problems in the valley. there are a couple of spots where you see some slow downs but it is still early.

if you are driving on the peninsular, traffic looks good and in fremont that traffic looks good and if you are driving in from livermore from 580, it is still a nice drive. we mentioned of course the raider game versus the cardinals at 7:00, but the raider nation they show up early and sometimes we have people tailgating all day out there and we are hoping they come in not all at once but that will be better for traffic but we don't know so keep that in mind. let's look at highway 4 westbound and that traffic looks good coming out of pittsburgh. low clouds and fog which means it will be cooler and the delta breeze decided to crank up a bit. we had more fog but now it's more fog and clouds and that bank is lifting to areas that were fog free but that's not

the case. a stronger system is moving into the pacific northwest and temperatures will drop on the weekend and we could see upper 70s for inland areas. looks like a big cool down up and down the coast so 50s for many, 52 up in santa rosa and you can see the system coming out of the gulf of mexico and will establish itself. it will be nice for some warrant for others and -- warm for others unless you are far inland and get some up eastern 80s to lower 90s and on sunday into monday temperatures are well below average. the number of people filing for first time unemployment claims dropped last week. 39 5,000 people put in for

wild chase across the streets of oakland. it started on foot hill boulevard and ended about a half hour later on 11th and webster. bit it -- it is still not clear how it began but it involved the chp even the oakland housing authority and somebody threw a gun out of the speeding car. they called it a dangerous situation on city streets but luckily nobody was hurt. the los angeles district attorney's office will not arrest one woman. they have solid evidence doreen sanchez drove the two men away from the dodger stadium the day of the attack but they don't have enough evidence to charger. sanchez is now cooperating in their case against the two suspects. louie sanchez and marvin

norwood pled not guilty and the two men remain behind bars on a half million dollars bail. the hit-and-run driver accused of seriously hurting ryan white, varges hit ryan white and drove off. police arrested him an hour later. they showed he had a blood alcohol level of .108. he is charged with felony drunk driving and hit-and-run. they are trying to help pay for his medical expenses and they are donate being $6,000 to the family. ryan white's condition is improving and family members say he is now able to speak. they have an important warning for hundreds of
