jose. san rafael 78. here is sal. we just got word of an accident in san francisco with the right lane blocked. northbound 101 at caesar chavez. i drove through there not too long ago and there was a stalled cab. now in the last 25 minutes or so that has become a crash. let's take a look at the commute on highway 4 westbound as you drive up to the 80 i'm sorry to the highway 4 with bay point connection near. traffic is moving allonge okay. also the bay bridge eastbound the road work has been picked up all week. traffic is moving well. and if you are driving on the san mateo bridge any time soon that traffic looks good. over toward the peninsula. it's 4:30 let's go back to pam. thank you, sal. topping our news the san francisco schools are being hit

by copper thieves. one school has been robbed four times. ktvu channel 2 reporter jade hernandez. >> reporter: we are live in the sunset district this morning. at this school right here the alice long school this school has had issues. it has been hit four times from wednesday through sat of last week -- through saturday of last week. to make sure no copper is stolen police have amped up patrols and put plain clothed officers in the area. we spoke to a security guard patrolling this morning. this is in his normal route. it's not the only school facing copper thefts in san francisco. here at the french school located a few miles away, two men removed copper rain gutters on sunday of last week. the two police cannot link the

two suspects together yet. the cases are unusual. they are asking anyone with any information to call the anonymous tip hot line (415)475- 4444. reporting live in san francisco this morning jade hernandez ktvu channel 2 news. this morning two people are in police custody after an alleged robbery and police pursuit. now after a brief chase through san leandro, the two suspects were arrested early this morning. police say it began when the two men robbed a nearby store. they say when the suspect finally pulled over they tried to run away but were quickly found by officers and a canine unit. the head of star bucks is going on a hiring spree to get the economy moving. ceo howard shultz says he plans to add 70,000 jobs within the

past year. he's fed up with washington and ending campaign contributions. we spoke with house minority leader nancy pelosi that attended a town hall mealing on jobs last night. >> his initiative to hire more people is very welcome. his analysis of washington i just didn't see it. >> congresswoman barbara lee hosted last nights job meeting which was also attended by mike honda of san jose. input gathered last night will be taken back to washington and read into the congressional record on the floor. we are learning more about president obama's plan to boost the economy. the associated press says his plans likely include tax cuts and ideas for long-term employment. he will also address how he plans to deal with the national debt. now a white house official says mr. obama's proposals would be fresh not a rehash of the plans he's pitched over the past few weeks. president obama will continue focusing on jobs today on his bus tour through the

midwest. yesterday he spoke with farmers and small business owners at an economic forrum in iowa. today the president wraps up the three-day tour in illinois. he will hold two town hall meetings in the state once he -- that he once served as senator. solano county continues to have one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country. realty track reports one out of every 140 homes faced foreclosure last month. vallejo had the highest rates in the county with 418 homeowners receiving notices. solano county is the fourth hardest hit area only after las vegas, stockton, and modesto. they blame it on the instability and the mortgage market after being caught in the robo signing di back can.

police offered a -- police say the man offered a ride to two nine-year-old girls. the girls declined the offer and told their parents. police say the man left in a white pickup truck with a graphic similar to a bug on the door. he's described as a white man in his 40s or 50s with a white hair mustache and beard. a sonoma county council woman wants tougher rules in her sister after a deadly pit bull attack. officers shot and killed the dog. council woman joann sanders tells the press democrat she supports banning pit bulls in her city. she has asked city staff to look into extending the regulations. san francisco police are warning people to lock their bikes after a series of bicycle thefts. at least five thefts have been reported in the inner sunset

area since the first of the month. the thief breaks into garages and storage units. in one incident resident confronted the thief and threatened with a knife. the thefts have neighbors very worried. >> definitely more aware of leaving our house and making sure that you know all of our doors are locked and keeping an eye out and having the neighbors watch out for each others stuff. >> police say they will increase patrols. the suspect is described as an african american man in his 40s or 50s. police believe he may be living in the neighborhood in a garage or storage shed. three people are being treated for serious injuries after a bus accident involving an ac transit bus. the accident happened at about 7:00 last night at foothill

boulevard and 50th avenue. investigators say a ford tower us crashed into the bus. the driver was the only person on the bus and was not injured. a bomb squad destroyed a suspicious object. a taxi driver notified police at 8:00 after finding a shopping bag on the southbound platform. santa clara county bomb squad x- rayed the bag but couldn't find out what was inside. they destroyed it with a water cannon. cal train service was delayed for 15 minutes during that incident. right now it's 4:37. want to check in with sal for the morning commute. i noticed a lot of road work out there. which i'm not complaining because it will be nice to have smoother roads. >> yeah. you are right, pam. we've had road work all over the bay area and some of it has been picked up. for example the road work on

the bay bridge was gone. we are watching that for you. let's go outside and take a look at interstate 80 and traffic here looks pretty good. some of the road work that has been around on 80 is still there in some areas on the east shore freeway as you drive between central avenue and the 580 interchange. various lanes are closed until a 5:00. just a few more minutes for the road work. it does pick up by 5:00 or 6:00. let's move along and take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. no road work here. the road work is gone on the upper and lower decks. 4:38 let's go to steve. >> thank you, sal. low clouds and fog. it has lifted a little bit since yesterday. 5 lot of 50s and 60 -- a lot of 50s and 60s. so the delta breeze has decided

to pick up a bit. inland temps will cool off a little as well. 50s to low 60s. san jose overcast. that was not the case yesterday. they were fog free. they do have fog today. bring temperatures down. sometimes that fog wins out and you can tell very early in the morning it could be a few high clouds coming up to the south. not a lot going on. low clouds and sunny. it will be cool to the coast. they do see some of that peel back. upper 60s to low 70s. the breeze is already picking up. i expect to see a lot more sea breeze. low 80s for some. san jose 79. 79 redwood city. 78 san rafael. upper 80s concord, pleasant hill. morgan 87. and we will cut fairfield as well their breeze has picked up. fog, sun, warm today. about the same thursday. cool down friday and saturday. it does look warm en-- warmer

good morning. a little stronger fog bank today. a little more pronounced sea breeze as well. it will be in the upper 80s for some. but i think we take the high temps a down a little bit. by the coast 50s and 60s. around the bay 70s. 4:43 is the time. new this morning a mexican exchange student is under arrest in spain this morning accuse of planning a gas attack during the pope's visit. i want to show you video of police in madrid setting up security check points. the student was planning to attack a group of protestors with suffocating gases and other chemicals. president obama is addressing the threat of another terror attack on u.s. soil. he says a lone wolf attack is more likely than a major coordinated effort.

the government is still monitoring all terror scenarios. he adds there may be a little extra individual lens. we are learning first responders to the twin tower attacks are not invited to a tenth anniversary memorial being held in new york city next month. mayor michael bloomberg issued a statement saying it's only for the victim's families. mayor bloomberg says he's looking to find ways to honor the first responders at a different time. pakistan gave it access to the advanced american helicopter that crashed in the raid that killed osama bin laden. now on sunday the financial times reports that pakistan allowed chinese military engineers to photo graph and take samples of the top secret helicopter before giving it back to the u.s..

china's defense ministry calls the report unfounded. four of the country's largest tobacco companies are suing the government over graphic new warning labels on cigarette packages. they claim the label violates their free speech right because they act as an antismoking ad campaign. they have not commented on the suit. the labels are currently scheduled to be in place by september of next year. a san jose teenager stabbed multiple times outside of a mcdonalds is suing the restaurant owners. on june 9th jonathan was in the mcdonalds parking lot while a friend went inside to buy food. that's when he was robbed and stabbed by several mail suspects. there was a large group of people in the parking lot because of a music in the park concert and mcdonalds should have done more to provide better security. we are now hearing from the brother of the man suspected of

killing himself and his two- year-old daughter. the little girl's mother is to blame. the bodies were found in his car on saturday. autopsy results show the initial cause of death to be carbon monoxide poisoning. madeline was being used in a pawn in a nasty custody dispute and her father freed her. >> i don't justify anyone taking the life of a child. i perceive it more that he saved the child. he received a notice from the courts that her mother had been awarded full custody. he says his brother was a wonderful father that wanted to spend time raising his daughter. the autopsy of the 8-year- old tracy girl that was killed two years ago will never be

released for public viewing. her neighbor pleaded guilty to the murder and received a life sentence. the girl's family requested that the autopsy remain sealed saying it was a matter of dignity. hayward police gave ktvu a never before seen look at the evidence room in the mccay la garrett kidnapping case. a bulletin board features an earring and picture of shoes like the one she was wearing. hidden on the board are seven suspects including phillip garrido. >> every little bit that it gets out there i'm still hoping that michaela will see it. she will see herself on tv. she will recognize herself and she will know we are still looking for her. >> she was kidnapped outside of hayward grocery store back in

1988. garrido was in a halfway house about 20 miles away. they interviewed the garrido's last week. a bill about to be introduced in sacramento will change the rules for evaluating patrol for serious offenders. it would expand the information to decide an inmates release. right now they can only look at the behavior while in prison. the bill is in response to phillip garrido who was patrolled after good behavior in prison. it was reported yesterday evening at a center on wood side avenue the fire started in the kitchen and was extinguished within 15 minutes and no one was injured. students in palo alto will be able to trade old supplies -- old school supplies for new ones.

and the final scene was shot on the streets of north livermore. the forest and beach segments were shot in marin. the day long shoot brought in $56,000 in revenue to the area. this morning highway 395 is back open after firefighters continue to battle a wild fire. the fire started around 3:15 yesterday afternoon about seven miles southeast of gardenerville. right now the fire is about 20% contained. voluntary evacuations are under way. so far no reported injuries or homes damaged in the fire and the cause is still unknown. governor jerry brown and the governor of nevada are working together to preserve lake tahoe. they met at the lake tahoe senate yesterday where they signed an agreement to return clarity to the lake to the depth of 100 feet within 65

years. nevada lawmakers recently threatened to pull out of the plan saying they have too much power in setting policy. last night the santa clara city council has -- they decided to opt in to the state's plan. the city will have to pay the state $11 million this year and nearly $3 million each year after that. without a redevelopment agency, santa clara fears it will lose land it owns such as the stadium site. >> we don't have a choice to protect what we have in santa clara. we must go and opt in to the redevelopment agency. >> public money should be used for the public. not to support the san francisco 49ers. >> redevelopment money also pays for the building of affordable housing and it would fund a proposed new library.

4:53 is the time. back over to sal. any problems? >> we have a crash northbound 101 in san francisco in the right lane. so light it's not causing a big traffic jam. you should be aware it's there. let's take a look at the east shore freeway traffic looks good as you drive out to the mccarthur maze. also this mornings commute looks good in oakland. both directions of interstate 880 as you drive to the coliseum. across the bay, highway 101 and highway 280 down the peninsula looking good if you are driving let's say down to mountain view or palo alto or up to mountain view it's a nice drive. at 4:54 let's go to steve. thank you, sal. a little stronger sea breeze. yesterday was kind of late to get to the parts of the north bay. i can see it's filling in on the nighttime visessable satellite. temperatures 58-72 along the coast.

that 72 would be closer to santa cruz. around the bay a lot of 70s. and inland anywhere from upper 70s to lower 90s. since my forecast covers a wide range of territory. including the north 40. 58 fairfield but they have a stronger sea breeze. low 60s for many year. the low clouds have made it to san jose. the web camera from the fine, fine meteorology department at san jose state. santa rosa has had a cool week. with the fog coming in they will stop right there. a stronger sea breeze today. a little just one push from the system to the north that's all it takes. the high backs off a little bit. that allows the fog to lift and increasing fog and low clouds even for inland areas. a stronger delta breeze means slightly cooler for inland temps. low clouds and sunny. cool coast. the breeze has picked up though. we will see temperatures 50s
