developing news, violence breaks out at and near candlestick park. fights in the stands and gun fire in the street. >> we begin with that developing news, the battle of the bay between the 49ers and raiders has taken a violent turn off the field tonight. the fight broke out earlier

this evening in the stands. police are saying that one of the men was knocked unconscious. also we're getting word that two men have been shot outside the stadium in the parking lot. one of the men was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. we have the crew at the scene collecting information. meantime another child has become the victim of gun violence in oakland. we're at children's hospital where the victim is a two year old who survived. >> survived after a bullet passed through his upper arm. he is recovering here while police pursue conflicting accounts of what happened. >> reporter: when these two women brought a wounded toddler to a hospital it triggered a who done it. they believed the little boy had been shot sitting in a parked car but no one in nearby homes or businesses heard gun fire. >> we should have.

nobody heard anything. >> reporter: and no trace of a shooting. >> at this point we haven't located any residents that actually heard any gunshots or anything. >> it occurred in the street. >> reporter: they were also told he was hit by a stray bullet just a few blocks from where a 3 year old boy was shot and killed earlier this month. today's story seems similar. >> subjects were walking and the child was shot. >> just walking down the street. >> yes, ma'am. >> reporter: but people who work at the location gave us and police the same denials. no one saw anything unusual. the toddler's relatives were quizzed repeatedly. >> my little cousin, but he's okay. he's okay. >> the child is your cousin. >> yeah. >> he was walking with who. >> with us but he's okay now. >> there's a lot of questions that need to be answered. >> reporter: as police sift

through the stories, one sad fact emerges, another child is suffering from gun violence. >> very unfortunate that the kid is on the other end. >> reporter: i just checked and still no clear chronology or suspect. briefly today they thought a bullet riddled car they pulled over might be linked but neither the driver or his weapon appear connected to this wounded child expected to recover. fire officials are looking into what caused a grass fire. we want to know you new video of that fire. it started just before 5:00 this evening. flames sent a lot of smoke into the air that people saw and smelled from miles away. several crews including three air tankers were called in to access the hard to reach fire. >> they had to hike into the fire. it was well off the road, well

off any type of fire road, about 2500 feet to get to the fire. >> it burned about 4 acres before it was contained. no one was hurt and no truck structures were threatened. a group of activisted gathered this afternoon. they're calling for a review board to oversee the police force. she was shot to death by police when he suffered a mental break down on june 12th, 2001. his wrongful death settlement required a 40 hour training course for police. they have identified a woman killed in an accident. she was on a crosswalk at 18th. the coroner announced she was 23 year old emily dunn of san francisco. they're testing the bus driver for drugs but there's no

evidence he was speeding or under the influence. they're also looking for a hit-and-run driver that truck a 5 year old boy. the little boy was crossing silver avenue ahead of a family member when she was struck around 11:30 this morning. the boys injuries are not life threatening. officers are looking for a dark green 1980s hatch back with a missing mirror. the driver appeared to be a latino man. >> police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened this morning. he was hit by a white pick up truck around 1:00 a.m. he died at the scene. a couple of blocks away a white pick up truck was set on fire. police tell us they're working to confirm whether it's the same vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. the victim's identity is not being released until his family is notified. >> two uc berkeley graduates have been sentenced to 8 years

in prison. they were charged for allegedly entering iran. we explain what might come next for the two americans. >> this is shane and josh, in february before the judge sentenced them to 8 years in prison for entering iran ill illegally. >> we spoke with a journalist here here today. he said he helped the hikers obtain their attorney in iran. >> i think he said that it shows the political nature of the case. >> they contend they were hiking in iraq when they were taken into custody by iran forces for crossing the border. she spoke out during the two

use text messages to coordinate a similar demonstration. they said barts temporary interruption of cell phone service did not effect by first amendment rights of any persons to protest in the lawful manner. another protest is planned for money. >> in libya rebel leaders say the end is year for gadhafi's regime. this marked the first time since the uprising began in february that rebels threatened the strong hold. this evening came word that rebels are celebrating after pushing government forces out. we found this report just before the celebrations began. >> reporter: on this day, even if you couldn't see the fire fight close up, you could hear

remain. this family is staying put including the children even though missiles are falling around their home. >> a person feels unsafe and can't risk because of the rockets. they hit us every night but we are resisting staying in our homes but we do feel fear, especially for the children. >> she and the rebel fighters are convinced the end of the gadhafi regime is near but trying to take control will be a fight. police arrested at least 60 environmental protestors today outside the white house. protestors are trying to block a possible u.s. acanadian pipeline. they say the 1700-mile pipeline will cost water resources vulnerable to spills and the

>> there's word that hayward police may be close to making an arrest in the disappearance of a nursing student. the news comes as dozens of volunteers made another push to try to find michelle. >> with their hiking boots on and walking sticks in hands they moved down a three mile sketch of note. sandwiched between remote hills >> this is the 7th search party they've organized since she went missing in may. 75 people showed up to help. >> i saw something blue. looks like a surgical glove. >> it was a blue label on a

will continue. a stanford university student has been found with the help of facebook friends. they reported his missing yesterday after not hearing from him for six days. his father asked for help and a facebook page was long. he entered a rain forest where there's no cell phone reception. his parents posted the message today saying they've talked to him on a two way radio that he is safe and they're grateful for the help. >> the 9 year partnership with amtrak could be coming to an end. after weighing proposals from four conductor providers, they recommended signing a 5 year, $62.5 million contract with the transit america services. they say they hope the contract will save money in the long run. they'll vote september 1st. first ever bear hunting season began today with more

protestors than hunters. six hunters showed up and no bears were killed but 40 protestors gathered for prayers. an estimated 400 black bears live in nevada. the department of wildlife set a limit of 20 bears with only 6 females. >> a line stretched outside the newest apple store. the grand opening was celebrated with cheers and high fives. the first thousand customers got free t-shirts. apple fans say the company's tech products such as ipads will keep them coming back. >> the new iphone 5 coming out in september, i'll probably be the second in line to get that new phone. >> apple, which briefly became the world's most valuable company last week is expanding it's retail business. it says it plans to open 30 new stores worldwide by tend of september. a large crowd turned out today for a community forum on making

good financial choices in these uncertain times. the unity council sponsored the event. representatives from state farm and the police were on hand. they were helping people make a more secure future for their family. >> everybody can put their questions on the family, maybe some misnomers about what's going on as far as banking and homeownership. >> the unified school district also offered tips for students heading back to school and free school supplies. >> and a school supply give away ran out of backpacks for the children in line. some analysts say it's a sign of the times. more people in need in this economy. >> are you going to get a good backpack. >> families started lining up before 6:00 this morning. students were hoping for new backpacks for the new school year. >> i got one.

second highest unemployment in the country. >> our economist tells me the instability could prolong the economic agony, turmoil in the markets means insecurity and employers won't hire if they're not confident. >> now back to that developing news, the violence that broke out following the preseason game between the 49ers and the raiders. violence off the field including a fight in the stands and a shooting in the parking lot of the park. live from the scene with the latest on the violence that followed the game. >> as you mentioned, police are dealing with a number of different incidents out here. we can tell you we have confirmed that two men were shot outside the park here off of jamestown avenue. with he know it happened by this gate. we also have video. we know one of those men that was shot, a 24 year old

suffered life threatening injuries in that shooting. the second victim was not hurt as seriously. both were rushed to a local hospital. we don't know if either of them were actually at the game tonight and like you mentioned, we can move to some other video we have, there was more trouble inside candlestick park tonight. one of our photographers captured this video of a nasty fight as it was happening. with he saw one man who appeared to be fairly badly hurt in all this. we talked to police about it and then they confirmed that somebody else was beaten unconscious inside a bathroom at the park during the big 49ers raiders game. that happened around 7:20. we can tell you police are certainly still trying to gather information, look for witnesses and certainly violence outside of sporting events is more in the spotlight than it has ever been with the beating of bryan stow down in

los angeles this year. we don't know if these two shooting victims were at the preseason game. we got an officer who pulled up moments ago. we'll be talking to him as soon as we get off the air and we will bring you more details as we get them. we're here live, ktvu channel 2 news. thousands of people flocked to oakland for an annual concert known for featuring big named hip hop and r and b acts. looks like they're having fun. from rappers to international artists, about 11,000, mostly young mans, parked in for summer jam. none had a story to tell like taylor who scored tickets after she met this man on a flight home from miami. >> i waited to see him and he was like are you going to the concert and i said no and he offered us tickets to go. >> unlike in years past there

as she continues her fizz real recover from the assassination attempt against her she is feeling with the emotional grief as well. she only learned last month who was killed. her husband waited until she felt she was strong enough to hear about the deaths. it killed two of her close friends, an aid and federal judge as well as a 9 year old girl and three other victims. >> according to his accusers attorney, sexual assault charges against dominique strauss-kahn might be dropped. the district attorney set a hearing for monday afternoon with the accuser who said he attacked her. despite concerns about her credibility several public officials and womens groups urged them to go ahead with a trial. he is scheduled to be in court

on tuesday. >> from syria, the president is scheduled to address his nation in an interview tomorrow. it comes as this interview was posted online showing thousands of protestors taking to the streets of several cities yesterday. 34 protestors were killed by government forces. un officials say the government's violent crack down has claimed the lives of more than 2,000 people since it began in march. >> in israel one man was killed and several other people including a baby were wounded after more than 80 rockets hit southern israel over the last few days. israel and gaza have been locked in fighting since thursday. israel retaliated by killing 7 people behind the attacks, however, 3 he i didn't think so

tears and flowers in norway today, survivors of the massacre that claimed the lives of 69 people there returned to where the killings took place. one survivor says he can't remember the details but when he returned to the island today

he broke down in tears. still the gathering was the first step in taking the island back with love. some bay area first responders who helped with the rescue and recovery in the after math of the 911 attacks won't be returning to new york to mark the 10th anniversary. they're not the only ones feeling a little by the snubbed. >> it is hollowed ground. thousands of people will descend on ground 0 for the 10th anniversary. >> i'm bringing my wife back with me. my family went through it as well. >> and the fire search and rescue team was will for two weeks after 911 and they want to attend the university but the new york mayor said space is limited so not everyone is invited. this week he ruled out first responders including those from new york city who lost people that day. >> i think they're missing an

users. the site says an automatic program flagged the post. it prohibited them from mosting. the whole thing is a computer glitch. >> more than 300 people went for a walk in oakland today. the 7th annual breast cancer challenge honored former ktvu broadcaster. she chronicalled her personal fight to promote treatment and prevention until her death in 2003. she helped lead the team raising money for the cause. >> every penny goes to people in the bay area, men and women who are fighting breast cancer or for mammograms for low income folks that need to be tested to make sure they don't have breast cancer. >> it gives money to low income and underinsured patients to cover doctors bills and basic necessities so they can focus on beating cancer. you can learn more about

♪[music] the 11th annual art and soul fest vat attracted thousands of people to 14th and brad way today. there were 150 artists showing off their work and food. the festival continues tomorrow at noon. tickets are $15. the university of san francisco is showing off a new logo tonight with a tag line change the world from here. university officials unveiled the dine yesterday. they said students faculty and staff had a hand in the process. how about fear the birds? the giants have an opponent in the sky. what they're doing to take back the ballpark. >> some places could see drizzle tomorrow but we'll tell you which day you can see temperatures sore into the 90s.

a really big drop off in temperatures today. only most spots only in the mid to upper 70s this afternoon. right now the map is doing it again as you can see on our mapping system, our live storm tracker, santa rosa reporting cloud cover. right around the central portions of the bay, san francisco and oakland and hayward, the low clouds are already regrouping and will push back inland for tonight. so we have been talking a lot about the fog. that's been the one constant for the coastline. temperatures on the cool side so fog will be on the increase

and once again spotty drizzle. could be measurable rain fall first thing tomorrow morning or trace amounts. overnight lowes tomorrow morning most areas starting out in the low to mid 50s. hayward at 56 and morgan hill 53 degrees. this has been the story for today and pretty much for tomorrow. this is deepening the marine layer. start out with the clouds tomorrow morning. not much of a change in temperatures. here's the next change, though. it will bring that warmer air into the region. so the warmest is monday approaching the 90 degree mark. we could have a few low 90s well inland. but this will translate into a warm up across the bay area. i've been watching the tropical depression greg, this was a tropical storm earlier today. it will continue to weaken but we have to keep an eye on this. the moisture could move up to

the north at least in the form of high clouds by tuesday and wednesday and there is a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm. not in the forecast just yet but something we will be watching into tuesday and wednesday. you can count on the overcast out there and some drizzle. and by 4:00, still partly cloudy skies around the bay. that's all reflected in the sunday forecast. 53 to 56 degrees. still a sun cloud mix by 1:00 and partly sunny and temperatures not a big change from today's highs. maybe a few spots warmer and we could have a few more low 80s out there. san jose in the upper 70s and san francisco tops out at 63. here is a look ahead with the remainder of your weekend in view. there's the warm up we have been advertising for monday and by tuesday low 90s, a little

it's not all that often that the 49ers and raiders takeel, even if it is just preseason football. hard to predict how they're going to do. lot of changes made in the off season and one of the biggest changes, new coaches. they're shaking hands, both looking for their first victories as head coaches with their new teams.
