a line cook shot outside a san francisco restaurant has died. we reported the shooting yesterday on 2. today he was identified. police believe he was mistaken for a gang member. two men approach him yesterday morning as he was taking a moking break. police are still looking for the shooters. 24 hours after he was shot another man was killed 11 blocks away. police are looking for two suspects in the shooting death. a memorial has been set up where the shooting happened. his death brings the number of homicides in san francisco so far this year to 34. we have an update on a sexual assault story. robert hoffman faced a hearing

today in san francisco, accused of salting three women since march. his attorney says the sex was consensual. three women came forward accusing him of rape. barry bonds will not be tride again over whether he lied about using performance enhancing drugs. prosecutors dropped the remaining charges against the former star. yesterday a judge upheld the jury decision. the jury dead locks on three cants of making false statements. tonight we are learning more about hawthornes say a payroll manager stole a million dollars from other employees. ktvu's eric r tells us how it was a home loan application that led to her arrest.

payroll of more than 117 million. investigators say she was caught when she aflied to a home loan and bank of america asked for a explanation of her income. she admitted of forging a letter from the giants that said, she was given two additional payments of compensation. no one came to the door at her home. investigators say she may have used some of the money to pay for the pickup and two bmws in front of the house. including one showing a giants employee parking sticker. she agreed to return $600,000, which is the amount she admitted to embezzling. she is due back in court at the end of mexico month. eric r, ktvu channel 2 news. hearing began on the

that is a change from june when unemployment rose in ninety% of the sitties. in oakland it rose slightly in from june to july. even though businesses added more workers to their payroll this month it wasn't as many as predicted. jobs led the increase, increasing by 80,000s. the good rose 11,000. the total payroll amounted to 91,000 jobs. they forecast they would rise by 100,000. this is a preview of the government's monthly jobs report. on wall street stocked finished on the up side for the fourth trading day in a row. a surge in u.s. factory orders pushed the market higher. orders were up in july, the
