injured as jenny he. cal osha investigators are looking at the possibility that the canisters were overpressurized. in the statement the company president expressed simpthink for martin's family and says, "mtr is cooperating fully with authorities and cannot comment further until reliable information is available." new at 6:00 tonight santa clara county officials released the 9- 11 call reporting a natural gas explosion at a customerino condo cupertino complex. >> do you see the flames? it's out of control. >> the owner of the condominium said she smelled natural gas before wednesday's blasted, but did not report it. no one was hurt. pg&e has its crews found six more gas leaks in that area. the utility says pipes in the area are meadow an older

plastic that can get brittle over time. the utility told us today that those leaks have been repaired and it will replace all of the pipes on an expedited way. so listen to the entire 911 call from cupertino, go it our website, ktvu!n firefighters say they found a man dead inside a burning apartment in san francisco just before noon today. our crew got this video from the third floor of an apartment complex on mcallister street. firefighters say they spotted smoke coming from underneath the apartment door. the man was found dead in the kitchen. ason says that fire appears to be accidental. >>. >> a shooting in oakland this afternoon has left a man dead. the shooting happened around 4:00 p.m.. police found one man dead.

ktvu received reports that a second victim has been hospitalized. a crowd gathered as police cord beyond off a large area to begin the investigation. we'll have more teils on this shooting tonight on the 10:00 news. the solana county corner has identified the murder- suicide victims. afirstt today, outside oakland city hall, that is where a marijuana street fair is taking place. ktvu's debora villalon is at the event to tell us how the city is handling the two-day event, attracting thousands. >> reporter: there are still two hours to go and behind us tents loaded with all things cannabis and even medical certificates for those in need. if you burn it, they will come

has seen an increase in drunk driving arrests on the first night of labor day weekend. officers conducted a checkpoint in san mateo county and the chp says it arrested 468 drivers on suspicion of dui statewide last night, compared to 436 at this time last year. 826 those arrests were right here in the bay area up from 77 the year before. three people were killed in accidents across california the. the chp says two of the victims were not wearing seat belts. people along the east coast will be dealing with the aftermath of hurricane irene for weeks and months to come. in patterson, new jersey the passaic river is finally receding. ivan brought the city its worst flooding in a century. president obama is scheduled to visit the city tomorrow. meantime resident as long the

gulf coast are bracing for their own storm, tropical storm lee is already causing problems on the gulf coast from texas to florida. craig boswell. >> reporter: good evening, to you, ken. we have had bands of rain come through and breaks in between. that has been the key in new orleans, because it's gives the pumps time that they aren't had the heavy flooding that they thought they would get with tropical storm lee. some cities have taken precautionary evacuation measures and some outside of the levee protection areas have evacuated as they could get up to 20" of rain. >> the break in the weather has given our pumps the opportunity to catch up and they did so very, very quickly. >> reporter: state as long the gulf coast are bracing for lee. so far sporadic downpours have caused some minor flooding in low-lying areas of new orleans. >> hopefully this might might

move away and you can see the gulf is getting rough and rougher and we want everybody safe. >> reporter: it brings back memories of katrina. >> we lost everything and so after that, not too worried about this one. >> reporter: shoppers in biloxi, mississippi are scanning the store shelves and anticipating their needs. lee is promising heavy rains, which means these people may not be able to make another trip for days. >> we hear it's 18" of rain, but we want to be prepared. >> reporter: the storm is also impacting oil prices about half of the gulf's normal daily production has been cut by 600,000 barrels and now some drivers are noticing the new price at the pump. >> i have seen it go up $0.10, $0.15 within a four-hour range. how do you explain that? >> if you are going somewhere and need to get there, you have to pay for it.

man who disappeared. the missing man is 6-year-old gene hall from washington state. he was last seen on tuesday at the vogelsang high sierra camp. as we reported missing thursday when he didn't return to his car. authorities believe hall may have been climbing the challenging vogelsang peak. 65 rescue workers have now searching for him in that area on the ground and by helicopter. . the public and presidential hopeful jon huntsman isn't take a break this holiday weekend. huntsman isn't the only one in the cree primary state this weekend. fellow g.o.p. candidate mitt romney will be in concorde tomorrow to speak at a tea party rally. . sarah palin certainly sounded like a candidate today, speaking at a tea party event in iowa. the former alaska governor blamed president obama for the nationing's debt and says tea party principles will help to

pull the country out of financial crisis. president obama is calling on house and senate to put their differences aside and extend the bill that he says would save hundreds ever thousands of jobs. >> there is a lot of talk in washington about creating jobs, but it doesn't help when those same folks turn around and risk losing hundreds ever thousands ever jobs just because of political gainsmanship. >> in mishis weekly address the president urged congress to extend legislation to fund highways and mass transit projects. that law expires at the end of the month. president obama says without it, thousands of construction workers and their families would be affected. this comes after news that job numbers and unemployment remained the same in august. that is the weakest reading since september of last year. crews are making good progress on a wildfire in southern california. the fire started in the median of interstate 15 in the cajon pass closing the busy route between los angeles and las vegas. fire is now 60% confined and

officials lifted evacuation orders today. it destroyed more than a thousand acres along with two mobile homes. well it's the labor day weekend, let's check in with meteorologist mark tamayo to find out what the weather is like for people who have outdoor plans. >> outdoor plans, heather and ken, want to bundle up for the morning hours, but in afternoon, the fog bank pulls back. the fog hugging a good portion of the bay area coastline and so the beaches are cloudiest point reyes to ocean beach and already patches heading into the bay, moving across the golden gate bridge towards the bay bridge as well. a look outside and we can slow you this looking towards the foggy san francisco bay and temperatures today cooled off a bit. and not much change in the temperature department for tomorrow. right now looking at towards san francisco bay and air temperature of around 60 degrees. tonight fog will be on the increase and breezy conditions

out there for sunday and into monday. clearing skies to near the coast and then a little bump in the numbers in our extended forecast you will see in a little bit. overnight lows getting chilly in the upper 40s for santa rosa, napa, 58 and san josi in the mid-50s at 55 degrees. tropical update, katia has weakened, but we'll watch this into next week, the forecast track still a bit uncertainty. tropical storm lee with winds of 50 miles per hour moving into louisiana. you can see the heavy rain bands. the key problem with this it's a very slow-mover, only moving 4 miles per hour and result, you can see the yellows, which correspond to rainfall amounts topping 10". that is why they do have rainfall expectations at least on the order of 10-15", a few isolated amounts could approach 20". so this is the rain forecast model for the remainder of tonight into tomorrow. back here in the bay area, not much in the way of change here,

but we have a cooler weather system moving in from the north and with that, the beaches on the cool side around the bay. clouds partly sunny and warm temperatures, but still a bit of a breeze. the forecast model showing you fog tomorrow morning widespread at 7:00 for sunday and clear back to the coastline. so patchy fogs for part of san francisco. more sunshine as you work your way inland and temperatures not a big change from today. a few neighborhoods cool off a few degrees from today's high. oakland upper 60s. these temperatures will check this in around 3:00, 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. san francisco forecasted high of 65. here is a look ahead, your extended forecaster with the remainder of your holiday weekend in view. temperatures on monday, not much change for labor day. then we pull back on the fog and as a result temperatures warm up for tuesday into wednesday. so heather and ken, just in time to go back to work and school. weather conditions improve, more sunshine and warmer

temperatures. >> thank you, mark. san francisco giants are joining forces tonight's with community activists to strikeout violence. ktvu's jade hernandez is live in san francisco, where how the family of injuredfiant's fan bryan stow got involved. >> reporter: bryan stow's mother was here and was expected to throw out the first pitch, but bryan's dad did. the family represents their son, a giant's fan beaten outside of dodger's stadium opening-day is still recovering. today marks the 10th annual strikeout violence day. they held the day honoring survivors of violence and groups committed to stopping it in the community. an hour ago we caught up one group, an organization which helps domestic violence victims. at tonight's game group volunteers are selling $1 raffle tickets for the the chance to win a signed, giant's jersey. >> it's not about any one
