few moments. >> federal officials have issued a nationwide warning of small airplane attacks. it comes a week before the 10th anniversary of 9/11. we are live with how the focus is on the small planes. alex? >> well the threat in particular deals with small planes being used in some kind of terrorist attack and that means security no doubt will be top of mind here at the san carlos airport and all around the country. fbi and homeland security put out a warning for the african-american anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. al-qaida is thinking of using small planes. and they want westerners to get flight training. they have stepped up security around the country. of course potential threats involving small planes, they are nothing new. you will remember right after the 2001,

a person was struck and killed outside their car on interstate 80. california highway patrol said before 3:00 in the morning, the person was hit while standing outside of the vehicle on 80 in vacaville. they don't know why the victim stepped outside the car. they are relying on increased patrols and check points to weed out drunk drivers this labor day weekend. we will take you outside for the live look at the roadways. maximum enforcement period continues through monday night. the message is simple and unwavering. drive impaired. you will be arrested. no exceptions. on this weekend last year, 21 people were killed on roadways. highway patrol arrested more than 1500 people for driving while under the influence. a 72% increase since 2009. >> once they start drinking, they get the courage. honestly, i don't think anyone gets in the car they are going

president obama will get a look at the damage caused by hurricane irene. reporter, julie banderas is there. julie? >> reporter: this town is located along the river. they get flooded when there is a rain event or a tropical storm or hurricane. they are in desperate need of federal aid and the president will be joined by chris christie and make two or three stops that was devastated. and the waters have yet to recede. and take a look at the damage hurricane irene left behind. and the water actually rose some two to 3 feet up to the second floor of many of these buildings. they have been without power ever since. that's a full week without power. >> may be people in fact in
