shedding some light on a growing problem, renovations begin for a computer hub and here is more on the reason behind the makeover, here is more with kraig debro. >> reporter: he said he does not know where the temporary stop is but he just got off vacation and here is the schedule, you can see the northbound bus stops behind the gateway shopping center and this is the secondmost popular shopping center in the golden gate bridge and it also may be the most dangerous. spending a few weeks of summer with 5 attempted robberies, they can do little to improve this hub because it is on private property but the district hired a private security company for that hub. they have been given $100

million and in addition to lighting and visibility, they will have bike racks lighting and better signs. five golden gate bus routes will get temporary locations around the remodeling project and the city routes will also be affected. as i did a half hour ago i want to show you a rough idea where this new temporary hub will be. this is donahue and it will be around the corner on drake. basically it is a county sheriff's office i was talking to a deputy who said it will be a big mess with all the buss. reporting live ktvu channel 2 news. >> this is the last day of business for people who run the concessions at stow lake. allie rasmus is at golden gate park to tell us what will happen next. allie?

>> reporter: people are already saying goodbye and some of these people who posted these signs are not happy about the changes. other signs are criticizing san francisco's parks district for now renewing the family's lease. the current boat house operator is on his way out after a long legal battle with the city on that lease and the park district is bringing in a new company to run concessions here. they will still offer row boat and paddle boat rentels and they will be able to sell park related merchandise as part of their new contract. they will make this -- they are worried it will make this place seem too commercial. >> a local company that has been doing it for a long time, it is something like every other place and every other

park, we lose a little more of something special. >> reporter: they promise to keep some of the old charm, but what you will not find is bike rentals at stow lake, that will be gone and this is the last week you will be able to rent bikes. but if you are in the market for some of those paddle boats you saw, the operators will be selling some of their equipment starting tomorrow and today is the last day you will be able to rent the paddle boats. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. and this morning it has been downgraded to a tropical depression. sustained winds dropped and storms have dropped to more than a foot of rain in louisiana. new orleans they are holding out parts of the state which are flooded. some of the damage came from tornadoes which touched down in

southern mississippi and alabama. the center of lee is now over mississippi this morning and in the next couple of days it will cross tennessee and georgia. now lee could bring more rain still reeling from irene. nearly 4,000 homes along the eastern seaboard still do not have power. clean water is also a concern. they only have enough water in its reservoir to last three weeks. volunteers have come from across the country to help. >> i want to help and i was sitting in ohio trying to figure out what i could possibly do. >> 200 members of the national guard have also gone to vermont to help. california voters show president barack obama has a 19 point lead over his closest republican opponents. it is in the usc l.a.

clara. fog and drizzle by the coast, it does not look like a great beach day, partly sunny skies 58 to 70 and right now that fog bank is thick out there. mostly sunny later on and there are some signs, i mean yes, it will get sunny but i am actually a little nervous about getting on the warm side. gusts at 32 and low clouds made it all the way to live more. -- livermore. something to keep an eye on it will not affect us today. west southwest, 26 gusting to 32 and again that is a howling sea breeze, livermore overcast and west at napa, northwest san jose and everything is in place for a rather cool pattern.

50s for almost everybody gusts at 32 and that's impressive. the system is moving through bah-hah and they are sending in some of that cloud cover and rain. not much has changed on that pattern so low clouds cool by the coast, mild to warm inland and highs will build in tuesday and wednesday and it will allow temperatures to warm up by 10 degrees tomorrow. we will have to deal with some thick fog up there. 50s and 60s up in clear lake and ukiah. 86 in fairfield i mean gusts to 32 and that wind better die down or i will never see that 86. 68 in berkeley, livermore 87, same for santa clara and palo

is. well,good morning to you. the southern california grass fire which was caused by a deadly plane crash has now burned 3500 acres. it was caused by a small plane crash south of bakersfield. one person died in that plane crash. 600 firefighters are battling that fire now, at least one home was destroyed and some residents have been evacuated. apollo alto -- a palo alto man is accused of setting a u hall truck on fire and eight trucks

have gone up in flames. he is accused of walking out of that facility and 18 gas tanks were found in his car. it may be the first known video right after flight 93 crashed in pennsylvania. it had 46 people on board when it crashed and the man who has taken this video has since died and wants to remain anonymous. we will have a special called 9/11 a decade of change. we will have life reports and it will exam the way we live our lives, our broadcast is at 6:00 p.m. this sunday september 11th. causing widespread panic

through false twitter posts. they say they took children hostage and parents raced to pick up their kids. they are facing 30 years in prison and one suspect denied he started the tweet. he claimed he only tweeted what he was told and they blame drug traffickers for making everyone on edge. 25-year-old oakland man is charged in connection to the shooting. they have not released the person's identity. the driver has been shot several times. the person in custody is denying any involvement in that shooting. time now an effort to stop the new day history law from taking affect is facing an uphill battle. it will include gay history in

as you get off the bridge, the driver apparently trying to drive through the tunnel obviously could not make it. the driver's truck had major damage but it's not causing any major damage at this hour. let's look at the bay bridge toll plaza and they are cracking down on people speeding and drinking and driving. there have been several stops and they have been making arrest the and it will continue through today so make sure you are safe before you get behind the wheel. finally san mateo bridge, traffic is flowing nicely. 617, here is steve. >> it will be a cloudy morning.

idea.$♪ some of the people are afraid new operators will make the place seem too commercial and the historic boat house will lose some of its charm once it changes hands. >> they have obviously stated they want a steady stream of people coming through here. >> now another -- yew. >> reporter: now another thing you will not find is bike rentals and this is the last week you will be able to rent bikes but if you are in the market for some of those paddle boats, you can see there are some signs out here, some saying goodbye to the boat house owners. they are letting people know the equipment will did on sale.

live in sap fran, allie rasmus. a renovation project against tomorrow for one of the area's biggest computer hubs. here is more on the chains that are -- changes that are much more than cosmetic. we spoke to a bus driver and i asked him did he know about the changes and he did not. the golden gate bridge, they say they will change visibility and lighting and this also may be the most dangerous because during a span over a few weeks during the summer there were a few attempted robberies at this very hub. the transit authority said they can do little to improve visibility because it is on private property but there is another area where they hired security to improve security at that hub.

it is funned with money to improve security and they will have new concrete bus parents pads, bike locks and better signage. they will be getting temporary locations and here is the map. so here is where we are right here. there is the temporary hub which is document on drake street, in fact there is a marine public safety of office there so at least for six weeks we will have tougher security out in front of the hub. kraig debro ktvu channel 2 news. the u.s. postal service warned they did not have enough money to pay its bills by the end of this month. they are asking congress to step in and help straighten out its finances. right now they are worried and

without help they may be forced to shut down by winter. many california wish they could celebrate having a job. almost 1 out of every 8 californians is out of a job. it is the second highest in the country there have been several proposals to boost the labor force but the biggest obstacle is the housing market. it is also something you need to know if you need to take public transportation. we will have all the details on that in about 12 minutes. with 35 miles per hour winds, tropical depression lee is moving over mississippi, however it dumped more than a foot of rain over the weekend and while the levees are holding up parts of the state and city are flooded.

getting ahead of myself. 50s for almost everybody. everything is stuck as far as temperatures are concerned because now a cloud deck has come in. most of it should push off towards the east and some are dealing with that as well but there are a lot of low clouds and fog and it will head out there for most of the day. big differences in temperatures and sunny and breezy and the high builds in tuesday and it will give us a quick warmup. the coast will not warm up very much but we could see a warmup on tuesday and wednesday and a low will drop in on thursday. i want to show you a forecast model for rain and tropical storm lee is moving through and it looks like the rain is ending in new orleans. it will be a lot of thunderstorms and more tornadoes and the heaviest rain

finally a semi truck was damaged in a tunnel and it happened around 4:00. the driver was trying to drive through the tunnel and the truck was seriously damaged not causing any traffic problems to speak of. 650, let's check in with steve. >> we already might have clear skies, fog bank once it burns back it will be sunni for most -- sunny for most. thick fog as high pressure builds in and it will squash it and it looks like inland temperatures will warmup. the weekend could get very interesting some high clouds and cooler a possibility. some showers and they are already popping up in southern california. it is evaporating and reporting some rain in the sierra.
