from news chopper 2. the scene changed from when the fire first started at 4:30. firefighters are making progress. our chief meteorologist has been monitoring the situation for the past 90 minutes. >> i think the reason we saw brad pitt before the fire, firefighters have a great handle on the fire. we had a lot of smoke and visible flames on the ground. not in the trees. on the ground. water drops from lake chabot. fire trucks. people on the ground. from what we can see now it looks great. right now we have lorraine blanco at the park. she is on the phone. the main problem was access but looks like they made it up there. the terrain is tough and the path was steep and windy. the certain the heat and the dry conditions. that could be an issue in

murder victim. >> reporter: this is where cindy nguyen would sit every morning. on her desk a co worker left a smoothie, the drink she had every morning. >> she looked in my office and waved, you know, i am going to be going, you know, out for an hour. >> reporter: that was friday. authorities say paul ray castillo shot and robbed a man that morning and kidnapped cindy nguyen. her body was found saturday. police pracked paul ray castillo to a pizza in sacramento sunday night. >> relief to us, now we know he won't hurt nobody else. >> reporter: she was a host of a radio show. friends describe her as friendly, someone who would drop everything to help others. cindy nguyen was a single

mother and leaves behind two adult children and a 15-year- old daughter. >> if you love somebody you think about them. do the good job for them and hug them and love them right away. don't wait until tomorrow. because tomorrow will never come. >> reporter: a crackeddal light celebration will be held at 7:00 p.m. on friday in the shopping center. as far as the suspect, paul ray castillo was booked at the county jail at 1:00 a.m. he was arrested for kidnapping, robbery and we are told by authorities that he will face homicide charges in the killing of cindy nguyen. janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. we are waiting for word from investigators if the remains found are those of

nursing student michelle le. ktvu's rob roth is live. >> reporter: the curaner is trying to determine whether the remains are the remains of michelle le. >> reporter: it was a team of searchers that went looking for michelle le on saturday and the person who found the remains is the mother of amber dubois. she established a team amber rescue that helps find missing loves one. the woman accused of murdering michelle le appeared in court. giselle esteban did not enter a plea today. that was postponed till she is assigned an attorney. giselle esteban said michelle le ruined her relationship with a boyfriend. attending the hearing is volunteers who have been searching for michelle le. >> people put hours behind the

8:45 a.m. according to police the man grabed the girl and pulled her. she was able to fight free and ran to a middle school. she was not injured. four years after the cosco busan oil spill officials hope a settlement will send a message to would-be polluters. it killed 6800 birds and left 53,000 gallons of oil in the bay. today the owners and operator of the ship that hit the bay bridge agreed to pay $45 million settlement to settle all claims related to the spill. >> this settlement will allow us to restore the precious resources to their original health and beauty. >> he says the money will serve as a warning people who pollute the bay will be held accountable. the 49ers joined forces with a firm to buy the great

america theme park in santa clara. robert handa joins us live to tell us why it could clear the way for the stadium. >> reporter: here at great america theme park it was parking or the loss of parking that was hat the heart, last obstacle. as one person put it, the roller coaster ride is almost over. >> reporter: the 49ers teaming up with gma made may be the turning point. the parners are paying $70 million to buy the great america theme park from a company that has been fighting the project over the loss of parking space. the legal hassles had some 49ers fans optimistic about the new deal. >> i think it's great. i will believe it when i see it. >> reporter: the head of the 49er booster club understands.
