tara moriarty has more on what turn the investigation is taking now. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. investigators are going to be reviewing some surveillance video to see if it provides them some clues about who did this, who shot at the bus. now, they say the individual could have been hiding behind a bush. it happened at 59th street. half a dozen passengers were on line 72 when the bus was struck. luckily, no one was hurt. and authorities say that was probably because of the type of weapon that was used. authorities say the shooter used a bb gun. the plexiglass was not blown out. it was shattered but still intact. the passengers were transferred to another bus. authorities say after the bus was hit, the driver kept going for about 14 blocks and that's because operators are trained to do that, to keep moving

until you feel you are in an area safe enough to pull over. we'll let you know if the sheriff's department has any leads coming up. back to you. >> thank you, tara. claudine wong is in walnut creek now at a business that was robbed with more details about these masked robbers. >> reporter: good morning, dave. yes. we're talking at least three robbery the over a period of two -- robberies over a period of two days. we're talking about a group of armed and and a group of people -- and a group not afraid to shoot guns. the food mart there is open 24 hours a day. anybody can walk in. yesterday at 3:30 in the morning, six armed robbers did just that. there was one person outside

filling up. one clerk inside. after all of this went down, the clerk told the customer exactly what happened. >> he said that six guys came in with guns, brought him in the back room and scared him pretty well, trying to get him to -- to get him to open the safe. he couldn't. that's all he told me. >> reporter: the group took off but not before firing in the direction. they got into a dark-colored vw. they burst into a store in antioch, fired shots and took off from there. the day before, police say they hit the 7-11 in pleasant hill. in that situation, the clerk locked himself in the bathroom. this morning, law enforcement getting together with the fbi to see if they are possibly

connected to a dozen other robberies in the east bay and meantime, the search for the robbers continues. live in walnut creek, claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, claudine. a man from massachusetts now facing terrorism charges. the fbi says he built model airplanes and filled them with bombs. coming up for you at 7:15, we'll get a live report from our washington, d.c. newsroom on his intended targets and why the fbi said he wanted to attack the united states. 7:04. a woman is fighting for her life this morning following a double shooting in san francisco's western edition neighborhood. police say the woman and the man were sitting in a car on baker street yesterday when someone opened fire. the man was also injured. but his wounds are not life- threatening. there's no description of the suspects. the police gang task force is investigating the shooting. there's still no sign of an older woman missing in san

francisco. family members say 70-year-old fang p -- feng peng has alzheimer's. she's 4'"-10 and weighs about 80 pounds -- he's 4'10" and weighs about 80 pounds. a 6-year-old girl was killed on the way to school. police say the girl was in the crosswalk on bay road when a car hit and killed her. her mother and her sisters were just behind the little girl. they saw it when she was hit. the driver, a 49-year-old individual, is a music teacher at a nearby school. she was not arrested. however, the dmv says she has been cited in the past for driving while on a cell phone and speeding. some of the neighbors out there talked about the safety changes they want. >> first, a stop sign and 10 miles an hour.

not 25. 10, period. >> now, donations for the little girl's funeral are being collected. the family had been saving up for her birthday party coming up this sunday. another deadly accident happened yesterday, two blocks away. 51-year-old motorcyclist donnie lee dixon was hit and killed by an suv. the suv driver, eric banford, was being chased by police. banford is now in police custody. well, a stomach flu outbreak is hitting uc santa cruz. more than two dozen students came ill in the past week. no one knows what's causing the virus. most of the affected students live near a dining hall. some 200 students became ill last december with a similar

outbreak. everyone is being advised to wash their friends and clean surfaces. the energy department approved two loan guarantees worse more than $1 billion for solar energy projects in never vau and arizona -- in nevada and arizona. that's despite the recent bankruptcy filing of solyndra. and we're hearing more details on that. according to bloomberg, the factory designed to make soar panels had robots that whispered disney tunes, is spa- like water that resembled crystal, paid for a by a $500 million loan guarantee. 1100 workers have lost their jobs because of the bankruptcy and layoffs. today, officials from muni and the california public utilities commission will meet

allegedly involved model planes that would hit two high-profile landmarks. carol? >> reporter: good morning, tori. the fbi said one of the attacks was supposed to take place here, at the u.s. capitol. here is a look at the 26-year- old suspect. rezwan ferdaus, a u.s. citizen, and physics graduate from northeastern university. he was busted by undercover agents posing as al qaeda. he was going to use planes like this, stuff them with explosives and fly them through the capitol and pentagon. they also say he took photos of the pentagon from a nearby park. terrorism experts say although he posed no real danger because he was so closely watched, he's an example of the next big threat. this really underscores the danger of the lone wolf. so it's one individual who has the intent and capability.

>> reporter: ferdaus is in this van leaving federal court in boston yesterday. if convicted, he faces more than 50 years in prison. live in washington, carol han, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, carol. a montana woman was arrested at albany international airport in new york accused of having a loaded gun in her purse. security screeners say the semi- automatic gun was in the purse of 54-year-old loretta quail. now, she claims she had no idea the gun was there, which officials say is no excuse. she was charged with misdemeanor possession and later posted bail in an unrelated incident at the same day and same airport security screeners confiscated a replica gun. this morning in washington, the house of representatives is expected to say okay to legislation to keep the government up and running through next tuesday. the bipartisan agreement ended a dispute over disaster relief

spending that threatened to cause a partial shut down of the government. with most house members away from washington on a one-week recess, this moving's approval will take place through a legislative maneuver called unanimous consent. that allows as few as two house members to approval a bill as long as there are no objections. people who are angry about california's budget are taking california to court. the league of california cities filed a lawsuit seeking $130 million in vehicle license fees. the group accuses governor jerry brown and lawmakers of shifting those funds around and short-changing local police departments. in the meantime, supporters for the disabled want a cut in state funding to help people with mental or physical disabilities. last night, the mayors of san francisco attended a forum

ktvu reporter tara moriarty joins us live and tells us how everyone on board remain uninjured. >> reporter: good morning. investigators believe a bb gun or pellet gun was used to shoot at the bus. but they say if a rifle was used, it could have been deadly. now, alameda county deputies believe the suspect was hiding behind a bush when he shot at the bus. it could have been this one, it could have been a similar one along san san pablo. it happened on 59th. a half-dozen passengers were on board the line when the bus was struck. no one was hurt. a maxy glass window was shot out. it was shot -- plexiglass window was shot out. the operators of these buses

are told to continue on for 14 blocks, until they find a safe area to pull over. the sheriff's department may join us for an interview so we'll keep you posted on that. back to you. >> thank you, tara. 7:32. well, police now confirming a young woman was attacked by a group of men in clayton. the 19-year-old woman says at least five young men kickedded a punched her mere the flagpole at oak and main streets last sunday night. she claims she was unconscious at one point. police say the victim refused to give any information to them at first and refused medical treatment. if you have any information about this case call the police. well, the leader of the san jose hells angels was killed. now there are concerns that that casino shootout in nevada could lead to a biker war. pam cook will tell us more

about these events coming up in a couple of minutes. 7:32. contra costa county supervisors have stopped a solar power project in richmond. they say they were not informed about the specific details. groves of earlier kip tis trees were cut down. crews were making room for solar paneling. the company will meet with the county to try to resolve this issue. the live chicken sales at richmond market are over. the richmond stand was the last in the bay area allowed to toll -- to tell live poultry. animal rights activists say the chickens were kept in unsafe and inhumane conditions. county officials say they've not seen any proof of that. a decision 0en pot clubs is scheduled this monday. the city council will consider two options. one would reverse a long- standing ban on pot clubs and

the jackson family arriving in the courtroom a few minutes ago. a very difficult day for them yesterday because what we heard was testimony from what was michael jackson's inner circle. the people who were around michael jackson on the day that he died and they relived the last moments of his life. the perhaps most dramatic part of the day yesterday was when the head of security walked into the room. he testified that he saw conrad murray trying to revive michael jackson. he now, in his words, that michael jackson did not look like he was alive. at that same moment he turned around and looked at the top of the stairs, and there was prince and paris, michael jackson's children. he described the children crying and then muhammed took the children away and then they went to the medical center where michael jackson was pronounced dead.

than-expected peak buying season. what helped the markets earlier this morning, this morning, the labor department reported the number of new claims for jobless benefits dropped to $391,000. that's down 37,000 from the week before and puts the number at its lowest level in five months. a labor department analyst says the bigger-than-expected drop could be from what he called a variety of technical issues. the government also reported the economy grew at a weak 1.3% between april and june. that's still considered dangerously weak. the upgrade came after new retail numbers show shoppers spent more than previously thought. even with that upward revision, the economy showed the weakest

six-month performance in more than two years. there is a new report that hp is bolstering its offense against shareholders. they've hired goldman sachs to then them with this. the pail palo alto-based company would not comment on a report. 7:46. a $1,000 reward is being offered to find the killer of an oakland motorcycle board member. the man was gunned down on international boulevard sunday night. police say the gunman escaped and is still on the loose. well, there are concerns that the casino shootout in nevada may lead to a biker war. pam cook is live in our newsroom now with the detail. pam? >> well, investigators in reno say they now know who shot and killed the president of the san jose chapter of the hel's --

hells angels and they are concerned if they don't track him down soon there will be retaliation. now, the man died last weekend after a shootout at a casino. police are not releasing names but they say he belongs to another gang and has ties to the bay area. already under arrest is cesar villagrana of the gilroy hells angels. police say he was with pettigrew at the time of the shootout. he faces charges. investigators say he can be seen on the security cameras drawing a gun and actively firing into a -- firing in a crowd of innocent people and members of rival motorcycle groups. investigators say surveillance video shows pettigrew punching a rival motorcycle group member and pulling a gun as well

deputies whoops excessive force and says he will -- deputies who use excessive force and he says he will not resign. yesterday, a judge said there's measurable progress in jared loughner's treatment and that he can be made mentally fit to strand trial. he will have four more months of treatment. he has pleaded not guilty to 49 charges stemming from the tucson shooting in january. in vallejo, residents complaining about the condition of an enclosed city lot. it's on broad way street. it's used for several things, including a flea market and mobile home park. but some say it's covered with trash and human waste. they want the city of vallejo to penn clean up the area and better rig late how it's used. the city says they will investigate the allegations. well, it was a successful outcome for a man and his thumb

after a very unusual rescue at yosemite national park. on monday, a rock climber from austria severerred his thumb while climbing el capitan. in this picture, a rescue is rescuing him. now, they retrieved the thumb down on a ledge 80 feet below. the injured climber was rushed to san francisco. his thumb, by the way, was reattached and california pacific medical center. sonoma county plans to offer frontier airlines $1.5 million in incentives to start service at santa rosa airport. money is a combination of public and private funding including $650,000 from the federal government. frontier and the county still need to work out terms of the new flights. the county says for now it's only looking at a single flight a day to denver starting next summer. verizon air is the only commercial airline currently serving santa rosa.

good morning. welcome back. i'm tori campbell. >> i'm dave clark. it's thursday, september 29th. well, the news for you this morning, alameda county sheriff deputies are busy, they are investigating after shots were fired at an a.c. trans-- transit bus. tara moriarty is live with more. >> reporter: well, alameda county sheriff deputies are gonna be reviewing surveillance video. the bus has a recorder in there. they are gonna take a look at that and see if that gives them a better idea of exactly what happened early this morning. they do believe the suspect was hiding behind a bush, perhaps

this one, one similar to this one when the bus was targeted. it happened at the cross of 59 street. half a dozen passengers were on board line 72 when the bus was struck. luckily, no one was hurt. authorities say that's probably because of the type of weapon used. officials say the shooter used a bb gun or pellet gun and the plexiglass window was not blown out. it was shattered but still intact. passengers were transferred to another bus. we spoke to ac transit authorities and then say after the bus was hit, the driver kept going for 14 months -- 14 blocks. that's what they are trained to do, keep going until you feel you are in an area that you are safe enough to pull over in. we'll check back in with the sheriff's deputy and see if they have any new leads. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, tara. armed robbers in masks are

targeting east bay businesses. three stores were hit in the last -- in the last two days. claudine wong is live with new information. good morning. >> good morning. police believe the same group of men are responsible for at least three separate robberies, including one here at this valero gas station in walnut creek a little more than 24 hours ago. that happened at 3:30 this morning. police say six men, wearing masks armed with guns rushed the gas station store. a man who talked to the clerk inside at the time, said the clerk was ordered back to the room where the safe is and he was ordered to open the safe. he could not. one individual was outside getting gas. fortunately, nobody was hurt. but everyone, including that clerk, was pretty shaken up. >> it was like a few hours after. >> reporter: and he was still a

live. she's in walnut creek where law enforcement officials are trying to catch these gunmen. claw did dean -- claudine? >> we do have new details this morning. we have new details about what exactly went down at this valero gas station in walnut creek. we should tell you there's surveillance video of the crime. police have not released it yet. but we just talked to someone who saw it. we want to show you some video that we just shot inside the store. there's very obvious cameras inside. those cameras recorded six people walking in about 3:30 yesterday morning, all wearing masks and costumes, at least one gorilla costume and one skeleton costume. now the criminals apparently walked in and went to the clerk who immediately put his hands up. that clerk was taken to the back. he didn't have keys to the
