survive. ken? >> well, what we have learned at this point is that we have an injured vallejo firefighter, as you said and a severely injured victim. that's the latest we have on the victim, a man who lived in this mobile home. his condition. we are at the value quo mobile home estate. this is at 55 golden rod in the northwest corner of vallejo. let's show you the scene real quick. this is what you need to see to understand. this is a par plegic man who lives in this mobile home. you can see where he has a lift to get inside. that causes problems. in the back, that is the man's bedroom. that is the severely burned area. that is where the victim was when firefighters arrived. the man was in that bedroom and had called 911. he was on the line the entire time saying that his bedroom was on fire and that he could not move. he stayed on the line, yelling for help and firefighters responded. you can manual that this was very unnerving for both the 9121 operator and for the firefighters who were rushing

to this scene. when the fire earth arrived, they saw very little smoke. that changed as they wept inside. here is what happened according to the fire chief page myers when those firefighters maiden tri. >> prior to the hoped lines being deployed because when they got on scene, they could hear yelling and screaming. they wanted to do everything they could. they wept ahead to the hold lines were able to get to the victim. unfortunately, the firefighter who was burned could only put them out a certain distance before the room suffered a flashover as they were leaving the room. that caused more burning to our firefighter as well as to the victim who does not have protective clothing on. >> reporter: we are told that firefighter suffered third degree burns to his right hand and secondegburn to his face and other burns where the fire wept through his protective clothing. the victim here, we are told, that his burns are severe. no information beyond that. the firefighter and the victim are in a burn center at this time and the cause of this fire

is under investigation. in vallejo, ken pritchett, ktvu channel 2 news. a power outage is delaying the evening commute for some b.a.r.t. riders. news chopper 2 is over the west oakland b.a.r.t. station right now where b.a.r.t. says a power outage is causing major delays. i is slowing trains heading both into and out of san francisco. about 15 minutes ago, a b.a.r.t. spokesperson said that a generator had just arrived on site and should be up and running. the station lost power from a pg&e line that allows those trains to move offspeed a 15-year-old boy will be charged with murder in the death of a restaurant cook last month. 20-year-old gas perpachek was killed in the mission district as he toad outside smoking. at the time, the investigators said that the gunman may have mistaken the man for a rival

financial district with bank of america's new fee plan and why you have to pay to get a debit card. >> reporter: think about it like this. you put your money into a bank and the bank sends you a debit card. automatic is good. well, come next year, before b of a customers make a purchase, they have to unravel something of that checking account, a $5 bill every mon and put in the hands of bank of america. >> sound like a ripoff. >> debit cards, they are common and convenient to use from hats and jewelry to coffee and sandwiches according to an associated press poll. 2/3 of americans prefer to swipe with a debit card and not a credit card. >> we should be able to be treated like a customer. >> b of a will charge a $5 monthly fee when customers make a $5 debit card purchase. >> they're going to charge $5 a month, i may not probably use

news at least two other banks are testing debit card fees in some states. wells fargo is charging customers $3 a month in four states and j p morgan is experimenting with a $3 fee for some customers in wisconsin. an outpouring of anger at big banks and their role in the housing crisis came to a head in san francisco. hundreds of people demonstrated outside the financial district offices of several banks, including chase, wells fargo and bank of america. the group says that banks should help moment owners rebuild neighborhoods devastated by foreclosures and pay their fair share of taxes. there are no reports of any arrest. today michael jackson --

today declined to decide whether the military's don't ask don't tell policy was constitutional. the gay rights group lone cabin republican filed that suit back in 2004. it won a lower court ruling that the ban on gays serving openly was unconstitutional but a panel of the 9th circuit court of appeal in san francisco has now thrown out the lawsuit saying that the case is moot since the policy was lifted last week. the group does say it plans to appeal. tens of thousands of people pour into golden gate park. back here, we have some big changes i've been talking about in your weather forecast. it does include some rain back here in 10 minutes to tell you about it.

largest crowd ever coming to this spot in golden gate park. >> san francisco's hardly blue grass festival got started with a performance by m krment hammer. >> it was fun. >> reporter: the eclectic festival began a day recally this year to accommodate the kids. city officials expect 800,000 adult music fans in golden gate park friday through sunday, almost the entire population of san francisco county. >> last year, we had about 3/4 of a million. >> reporter: festival sponsor warren helmet says that organizers never anticipated it popularity. they are trying to keep its growth from annoying park neighbors. >> we quit at 7:00 at night so it does not go on until 11 or 12 or anything. >> street closures are set for tomorrow. tow trucks will remove cars blocking driveways. unlike ticketed concerts, the

a bay area nonprofit has adopted an oakland elementary school to try to promote healthy eating. the group, imagine that, handed out boxes. organizationers included tooth brushes, toothpaste and floss in a give away with halloween in mind. >> you're going to get tons of kaipped did i from the neighborhood. your job is to make sure that you guys stay healthy. >> imagine that organizers say that the group's goal is to provide fun activity for the bay area kids. mark joins us now with sports packing up day today for the giants. has to be a tough day inside the locker room. >> as a matter of fact, both bay area teams, it's all over for them. the great love fest with the giants this year, they had 79 sellouts and yesterday, the final game, even with the loss, the team coming out on the
