for a tattoo party. after the tattoos, violence no one expects. a chaotic scene in the parking lot about 1:30 this morning as people headed for their cars. >> people fled in self- preservation. >> reporter: someone called 911 and people found this ford explorer sprayed with automatic weapons leaving two teenage girls and one 23-year-old man dead, three others wounded. why they were apparently ambushed, still uncertain. >> this party is becoming a trend in t bay area. >> reporter: promoted on social media pop up in warehouses -- no permit, no police knowledge, and no private security. >> they make their money, they have their party, they close their doors, and the large group is off to fend for

coast town of fort bragg say they're relieved now that authorities have killed an armed man suspected of two homicides. members of a sheriff's swat team shot aaron bassler yesterday about six miles from fort bragg. he was armed with an assault rifle and was shot seven times by deputies. the man hunt for him began on august 27th after he killed a councilman. sheriff's investigators are looking into a deadly shooting during an alleged home invasion. a woman inside the house called 911 yesterday afternoon to report an intruder. it appears she may have known the man, but that they're not commenting on the nature of that relationship. they say she shot and killed the man after he threatened her and her pregnant daughter.

we didn't hear back. the oakland raiders have reached out to the television networks to have them show a more positive image of families at the game. san francisco officials today identified the victim of a fatal shooting last night in the city's bay view district. the medical examiner's office says knick franton suffered several gunshot wounds. he was shot as he entered a liquor store near keith street around 10:00 p.m. last night. he was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries about an hour and a half later. a hiker feared lost in the sierra nevada has been found safe. officials at kings canyon national park says john williams left for a 104-mile hike on september 17th and was supposed to return 10 days later. when he failed to show up, search crews started looking for him. officials say last night williams walked out of the park

and is in good health. crews are working to repair a sink hole discovered this morning. drivers found that hole around 8:00 a.m. this morning between k clement street and gary boulevard. a spokeswoman says it was caused by the collapse of a 100 -year-old sewer main. the sink hole did not cause any water outages and the road is expected to open later this evening. a deadline is looming to get the whooping cough vaccine. district officials say students who have not received the vaccine by tomorrow will not be allowed to attend class. all students in grades 7-12 to get a whooping cough vaccination. school officials say hundreds of students still have not received the shot. that sea lion that crossed the highway is on the way to recovery at the marine mammal

authorities say raymond davis got into a fight over a parking spot. a verbal disagreement quickly turned physical and now davis faces charges of third degree assault and disorderly conduct. the victim says the whole thing was unnecessary. >> i got hit, i went back. i hit my back straight on the con treat. and then i don't know. >> you get hit over a parking spot? that's kind of ridiculous. >> davis said he shot and killed two pakistan men who tried to rob him. he was released in march under a deal that compensated the victim's family. mistakenly bombed a building killing 30 of that country's soldiers. it happened wherest yesterday. the plane was targeting an abandoned school thought to be used by militants. at the time, yemeni soldiers had taken shoulder in that

unemployment rate of 9% will remain unchanged. a small number of jobs added in manufacturing and health care but will be offset by public sector job losses. a new bill would push more dog owners to license their pets. pet stores, rescue groups, and other dog-selling businesses to turn in reports to local licensing agencies every month. the reports would include contact information for anyone who adopted or bought a dog. so agencies can make sure they get licensed. unlicensed owners could be fined up to $100. goes into effect tomorrow, the state's new realignment program will require judges to sentence non-violent, non-sex offense criminals to time in county jail instead of state prison. give counties money to deal with the extra burden but some doubt it will be enough to pay

for the huge influx of new prisoners. the aim of the program is to ease overcrowding in state prisons. facing another increase in their trash rates. more than 23% in april and now they may go up another 10%. trash haulers are raising rates because their cost remains the same even though people are recycling more. the council will decide when to send out notices to rate payers. the department of public works will begin work on the second phase of its project to bring energy efficient lighting to a section of gary boulevard. a lighting controller on the underpass near kizer hospital. the lights are designed to last longer and cost less money.

antioch will get more money than anticipated this year, most of it from one-time funds from state and local businesses, but the city still has an operating deficit of about a million dollars. they're discussing ways of generating more revenue, including pumping water out of the san juan river. witnesses reported seeing three kids in the area just before the flames were first spotted. firefighters were able to knock down the fires in about 90 minutes. a chain reaction crash this morning caused a very pick back up on westbound i-80 just after 6:00 a.m. accord together the highway patrol, at least eight vehicles were involved. there's no word on the number or extent of injuries.

dozens of pets stood in line for the annual animal blessing this san francisco. minnisters from grace cathedral did the honors. the city of san francisco is named, he is also the patron saint of animals. pet owners say the blessing is just as much for the people as it is for the animals. >> i think it helps people most. anything that spills over into us spills over into him. it's a circle and we're helping each other. >> the tradition of blessing animals is held in churches all over the country, usually held before the feast day of st. francis on october 4th. crews are scheduled to work on a new pedestrian bridge that will lead from the parking lot to the beach and coastal trail. the construction will force the

beach parking lot to close starting tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until thursday at 6:00 p.m. the coastal trail close to the beach will also be shut down during that time. let's talk about our weather. pretty nice out there today, but mark has warned us changes are coming. >> the changes not too far away. partly cloudy skies wrapping up a fairly mild weekend. tomorrow we'll be tracking rain clouds. right down the man, i can show you this. we still have dry conditions out there. rain showers up to our north. this rain line will gradually drift to the south. a lookout side right now, we have a camera prepared for you looking across the bay. you can see some of those clouds there with partly cloudy skies. a fairly nice evening across the bay area. by this time tomorrow, we'll be tracking rain showers moving back into the bay area.

tomorrow rain returns and will be cooler. and early wednesday, storm wil drop off in temperature. we showed you the rainfall up to our north. that's associated with this frontal system that will be on the move. this is the first one and this is the second one developing way offshore in the pacific. first one scheduled to move in for tomorrow. the stronger one is set to move in late tuesday night, early wednesday night. as far as details, rain starts in the north bay tomorrow morning between about 12-3:00. forecast amounts about a 10th of an inch in the south bay. we could have amounts approaching an inch, a typical rainfall distribution you'd expect with this system. we'll put this model into motion. rain showers best chance will be up in the north bay.

as we do put this into motion, that rain line gradually sports to the south and then the rain showers still focused in the south bay. maybe possibly a thunderstorm developing around napa and fairfield. everybody cools off for tomorrow. no 80s in the forecast. warmest locations only in the upper 70s. if you think these numbers are cool, wait until you see the five-day forecast. by wednesday, those temperatures coming down into the 60s. san francisco 65. pacifica at 60. here's a look at ahead. your extended forecast, it is an active one. tuesday there's a chance of a light shower. tuesday is a break day. we're talking about significant rainfall, right now the timing of the heaviest rain will be very early wednesday morning between 3-6:00 a.m.
