the warehouse is located in the industrial section of town but police say the organizers of the party did not have a permit but they may not have needed one. police say it was promoted on the web and 150 people were leaving when gunfire erupted. police say it was about 1:20 a.m. and the parties to the door of the -- the doors to the warehouse were even locked. >> that is when the victims were approached by two one men on -- two gunmen on foot and shot multiple rounds at the victims and they fled in an unknown direction. >> reporter: a 19-year-old girl had been admitted to the state university had died. and another girl was also killed, three others were

wounded and conditions were not known but they tell us whether or not they are looking into whether it happened on private property or not. then it might be a zoning issue. expect a lot of police out in palo alto today watching both drivers and pedestrians in school areas. allie rasmus is in palo alto now to tell us what the police are looking for, good morning allie rasmus? >> reporter: they will be looking for traffic violations, right now and all around the school they have crossing guards and they are warning it is a high traffic area and people should use caution. they are under a program called operation safe passage and

police will be enforcing it. here is a list of what they will be paying attention to. drivers failing to yield to pedestrians and jay walking, seat belt violations and drivers calling or texting while driving, that also poses a big threat. palo alto is not the only city doing that. here is a picture from earlier this year. they will also enforce it. now police say this program happens to just -- happens to come just days after a six-year- old was killed which happened in east palo alto. she was walking with her mother when a driver struck the little girl as she was going through

the crosswalk again on her way to school. the city council will hold a special meeting on making safety improvements and meanwhile here in san jose, police will be stepping up traffic violations again as part of operation safe passage. allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 news. earlier amanda knox gave a tearful plea for freedom and now her fate is in the hands of a jury. she fought back tears as she asked the italian appeals court to set her free. she spoke before 2:00 a.m. our time and amanda knox spoke in italian and called her 2009 murder convictionup fair. >> i have not stolen, i was not

decide on the case as well as other cases up for consideration this session. there are new rumors that new jersey governor chris christie will enter the presidential race. he said he will not run for the presidential nomination but now people close to him say he is considering the running. they have planned his campaign strategy incase he decides to run. he is disputing the area his family leased in texas. the offensive word which had been painted on a rock was painted over before perry launched his political career back in 1984 but they quoted saying perry had taken them to

a new law provides all students in 7th through 12 have to have a whooping cough shot. they plan to grow even larger, and hock kit ship -- rocket ship plans on opening five elementary schools this year and now serves 2400 students. the first school opened in san jose and the school has gained national attention for its high test scores. most of the students are from low-income families and are learning english. a deadly shooting stemmed over a domestic incident. deputies were called to the house saturday afternoon and found 23-year-old lance dead.

if you see any local vineyard owners, done be surprised if they have sour grapes. this week's weather could cause major problems and tara moriarty tells us more on what is threatening this year's harvest. good morning tara. >>reporter: they are busy and this is the area that supplies grapes for this company and these are grapes that will be picked very shortly. we want to show you the other grapes that came into the tank earlier and you can see there is a little bit of damage and that is caused by rains we had in may and june. growers want to make sure they are safe and they have been working round the clock for the past sent days. they are coming back out to do it all over again, they are pulling white crates loaded

just 16 years old. >> reporter: good morning, we expect to hear something from san leandro police, three people killed at this party, three people wounded following this party at a warehouse early sunday morning. one of the people killed, and two of her friends were also shot and killed sunday morning. it happened following a party at a warehouse at 1:20 in the morning. she and a friend were standing near her father's suv and the gunmen started firing. police want to talk to the organizers of the event. they didn't have a permit but they may not have needed one. >> there is a possibility it may have been more of a zoning issue, based upon the fact that this is private property. they will be able to confirm

those issues tomorrow. two other victims, josh alfred and 60-year-old woman from northington. they need help identifying the killers. kraig debro ktvu channel 2 news. jailed american exchange student amanda knox is accused of murder tearfully pleaded for her freedom this morning in an italian courtroom, here in the u.s. supporters are awaiting the decision. friends of amanda stayed up all nightwatching the court proceedings and they are hoping to avoid another verdict. we are all very optimistic but at the same time you feel like you just don't know what could happen.

said his family had a hunting lodge with a racially offensive name. and amanda knox is trying to overturn her 2009 murder conviction for the death of her roommate, that jury is expected to make a decision shortly after 11:00 this morning. week two of the conrad murray trial is expected to begin with more testimony from emergency room doctors who pronounced jackson dead two years ago. they are trying to prove murray gave jackson a lethal dose of propofol and misled paramedics. jackson himself gave murray the drug when he left the room. joining us from palo alto,
