new developments concerning a knife-wielding man, two people stabbed, and a police shooting. it all happened in san francisco. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. we are learning important new developments about that officer-involved shooting in san francisco this morning. the incident happened on funston avenue near balboa, where funston parallels park presidio boulevard. two of the people involved in this incident have now died. here's allie rasmus with more. >> reporter: we got an update about 15 minutes ago, and they confirmed the suspects, the knife-wielding man, and an elderly woman have all died from their injuries at the

hospital. this all happened at 7:30 in the morning. that's when a woman called 911 to report some sort of disturbance coming from that white house. police are still here gathering evidence. two police officers entered the home, and in the doorway, they discovered an elderly elderly man bleeding producely from stab wounds. officers went upstairs and that's where they found the man's wife, a woman in her 70s, also had stab wounds. the suspect is 44 years old. and when they discovered him he was armed. >> he had two knives held above the head, they used their device that shoots like a beanbag and when that was ineffective, they used deadly force. >> reporter: now, police say the 44-year-old suspect and the -- suspect and the two elderly

stabbing victims were all part of the same family but at this point, police are not sure of their exact relationship. right now, officers are interviewing another family member, a woman in the home at the time, and she was uninjured an police say she was hiding when they saw her. some were assured this was not random. >> you know, you want your home to be safe. either way, it's sad that someone got that that level of anger. >> reporter: san francisco police will be holding a community meeting here in the richmond neighborhood tomorrow evening to talk to the community about this officer- involved shooting and police say they don't know exactly yet where that meeting is do that take place. we'll have more for you on -- is gonna take place. we'll have more for you on the news at 5:00. live in san francisco, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. a fatal officer-involved shooting in oakland was caught on a city-issued camera. police have not released the

tape. this is different video from september 25th, showing the aftermath at cherry and 99th avenue. today a"chronicle" reports the officer himself recorded the incident as it happened with the camera clipped to to -- clipped to him. investigator the say the officer -- investigators say the officer opened fire. police got a call around 1:20 sunday morning at the industrial park onal vara doe street near aladdin avenue. investigators say six people were shot. three of them fatally. the three have been identified as 16-year-old lanisha norrington, and 20-year-old joshua alfred and one other individual. police say they left -- they had just left a tattoo party.

>> i urge people even if they don't think they are a good witness or don't have much information, come forward. we're hoping that tip line is utilized. >> 510-577-3278 is the tip line number. police say callers can choose to remain anonymous. we have breaking news right now in san francisco. a high school is being checked for a potential gas leak after a complete evacuation of the building. this is happening at lowell high school on eucalyptus drive near lake merced. pg&e crews are checking on the odor. they checked the boiler room first but did not find a leak. students were safely evacuated from the building. we'll bring you any updates on the story as soon as we get them. a raging fire at a chemical plant in texas is sending huge plumes of black smoke in the sky. it's not clear what sparked the

flames this morning at magnablend in waxahachie, texas, about 30 miles south of dallas. a company spokesman says all of the workers got out safely. an elementary school and a college campus have been evacuated. authorities told people in the area to stay inside and to keep their doors and windows shut to keep out any toxic gases. rain is arriving in the bay area today. rosemary joins us with an update on the forecast with the rain falling in the north bay? >> yes. it arrived earlier this morning. the rest of us have been arriving the transition. first clouds and they are beginning to darken. giving you a look at the san rafael, it could be sufficient and -- tough and foggy. take a look at stormtracker, this system add is vanceing on north bay. but i'm going to stop the radar. we can take a look at the

latest. it looks like we could be seeing rain around santa rosa, petaluma, maybe getting ready to come into sonoma here. well, the rest of us are mainly dry. we do continue to see this. it looks like along the peninsula. we watched a little bit of rain move on through. some of the lighter greens may be virga. the south bay is still in the dry. it looks like the east bay is looking dry and partly to mostly cloudy as well. getting a little bit closer, richmond, oakland, berkeley, alameda, all beginning to see some rain overhead. coming up we'll tell you what we are expecting for the evening drive and how long we expect this system to stick around. we have one on its heels and we may be wet for at least half of the week. tori? >> thank you, rosemary. the rain may be a convenience for some. the weather is really a worry for grape growers all over the area. tara moriarty has more on how

the vintners are preparing. tara? >> reporter: well, the rain started to fall about 40 minutes ago. it's really pushing this grove into overtime, especially for chardonnay and pignot. it's crunch time in sonoma and napa. as storm clouds roll in, rollers work up their steves -- sleeves picking what they can before the rain hits. >> right now, everybody is absolutely going as fast as they can. >> reporter: ned hill and his crews have been working nonstop for the past seven days. we average mr.-- we average about four hours of sleep a night. we're scrambling. they pick up by by -- they pick by machine and hunt.

we have a new update too breaking news we just told you about. an evacuation at a san francisco high school is now over. this is a live look at lowell high school. the school was being checked for a potential gas leak by pg&e crews and fire crews. they checked the boiler room first but didn't find a leak there. the odor was reported just over an hour ago. students were safely evacuated from the building and from this live picture, you can see some students milling around outside

and a fire truck. but once again the evacuation at lowell high school in san francisco is now over. no gas leak found and classes should be resuming shortly. one of the largest technology conventions in the world is underway in san francisco. 45,000 people are expected to attend oracle open world 2011 over the next five days. the conference is spread across 129,000 square feet of tent space with 300 miles of phone and internet wiring. last night, ceo, larry ellison, said he's ready to take on ibm's fastest microprocessors with something called the exalitick intelligence machine. he says it will analyze data 100 times faster. the fate of amanda knox is

who tried to bring him back to life. dr. murray is on trial for involuntary prisoner. a somali man was sentenced for his role for hijacking an american yacht. all four americans were killed when that boat was raided back in 2009. a fourth defendant is scheduled to be sentenced later today. he's known as the geezer babb bandit -- bandit. it's possible he may have struck again. witnesses say this man pointed the involver at a seller and -- teller and ran off with cash on friday. he fits the description of the geezer bandit who officials say is responsible for 14 robberies across southern california. but there's one difference in all of the robbery, the geezer bandit wore a hat.

major cuts for the pacifica police department are taking effect today. pacific dash pacifica police are dispatching services to south san francisco, forcing the elimination of six jobs. also the police department building job is only open for limited hours. the building will be open from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. on mondays, tuesdays, thursdays and fridays. the building will be open at 7:30 a.m -- 8:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. on wednesdays. students in the west contra costa school district have to provide proof of their whooping cough vaccinations. the district says those who cannot prove it will be sent away. this is a requirement for all kids in grades 7 through 12. parents who don't want their children to receive the

vaccination must still fill out paperwork to be in compliance. palo alto police are boosting safety zones. "operation safe passage" is a week-long campaign that happens three times a year. officers will be looking for and citing drivers and also pedestrians who break traffic laws. one individual says that intersection can be very dangerous. >> it gets extremely, extremely busy. i have to watch all angles because i don't know if someone is not keeping their eye out and doctors are distracted -- and drivers are distracted a lot. >> a little girl was hit and killed on her way to school. officers will be looking for speeding, failing to yield to pedestrians, seat belt violations, and texting while driving as well as jaywalking.

the court is considering whether patients and their doctors can sue the government to stop cuts to the program. healthcare provideers argue they don't be able to take new -- providers argue they don't be able to -- they won't be able to take new patients. the court threw out -- a new study says unhealthy foods are still the top sellers -- sellers at restaurants despite a push for lel theyier options on the -- healthier options on the menu, 23% only order those foods.

the high calorie, high salt, and sugary foods are still the top sellers. good afternoon. the first of two storms for the week ahead arriving in the bay area, giving you a live look at san rafael. the north bay started to see a few sprinkles. the rest of the bay now just starting to see that atmosphere moisten up. the clouds are thickening, lowering, darkening and the scattered showers will begin later today in some spots like the east bay as well as the south bay. we're looking at light rain, even moderate rain over parts of the north bay at this hour. light and moderate rain over calistoga, saint helena. it looks like sonoma is dealing with a little bit of light rain. we were out there a few moments ago where they are picking up light rain. pacifica, hoof moon bay, some of the lighter shades of green, possibly the -- probably the

possibility of verga. richmond, oakland, berkeley, maybe a few sprinkles hitting the ground at this point. meantime, the south bay is gonna take most of the day. but the system has pretty much falled. your satellite radar, notice how far it is stretched from north to south over northern california all the way down almost the -- off the coast of santa barbara. this will continue its eastward movement but it won't be until the afternoon and evening hours. so your forecast here, it looks like the evening dry will be soggy by about 11:00 or so. we're already drying out. tuesday is going to be mostly dry but look at tuesday night it's moving in in the northern parts of the bay. it will slide. it looks like the wednesday night drive is gonna be treacherous. we're looking at anywhere -- we're looking at anywhere from .10 to .50. it looks like most for the north bay and the south bay maybe just traces to a few

information came out. they are now being driven down by european markets. dow currently down 197. nasdaq is down 675. s&p is down 26. the occupy wall street protest movement is attracting more attention. on saturday, police arrested more than 700 people who ignored orders to stay off the bridge. that brought even more people to the wall street park where protesters had been camped out for weeks. rallies have spread to other city, including los angeles, san francisco and boston. demonstrators are taking a stand on many things from global warming to gas prices to corporate greed. apple fans are already getting excited about an expected assignment -- expected announcement on the new iphone. it could come to the cupertino headquarters next week, maybe
