it's going to get out of here. when you hear the wind and rain developing here at midnight you will wake up perhaps but it'll be gone by the time you wake up. most of it the heavy activity. so right now what you're seeing here, i mentioned this earlier you're seeing stuff ahead of the front seat just moisture being scooped up and pushed out against the costal hills. weaver seeing scattered showers. let's take a peak, you can see you can pick out these strong jet winds on the satellite loop here. i like this shot. you can see the bay area you can see the shot here. here's the bay area. here's where the rain is. right here, in this area right here you see how fast that cloud is moving. you have wind speeds up in here up in the jet stream pushing this thing along. plowing at 150, 160-miles-an- hour in some cases. so the thing is moving. this is up in the higher atmosphere. when it gets here it's going to hit hard, a lot of wind. heavy rain but for a short amount of time. then it's gone.
5:20 pm
rainfall accumulations we can see an inch, maybe a little more in the coastal hills up above santa cruz and the general area. but most of us will probably see half an inch to an inch. but that will come down in a couple, maybe an hour, maybe 45 minutes so it's going to be the heavy rain, you will hear it. you will notice the winds. overnight lows are mild and that's because it's kind of a warm storm the first part of it. this moisture in front of it. once the front goes through that's when the temperatures will drop. not such an issue for us but when the mountains that's when the snow or winter storm warnings will come down. maybe five or 6-inches at the summit. but a foot above it. there's 11:00 tonight, now you clearly see the back edge of the front, right. there it is. and this thing is being driven by upper level winds over 100 miles per hour. so it's going to fly through pretty quick.
