>> we are fairly confident he is not in this area we have searched. >> reporter: they are waiting to see if their loved ones survived the shooting rampage. sharif olman opened fire at a safety meeting killing three co- workers and injuring six others. a local cable show he used to host and he had been upset about switching to the graveyard shift recently and had been in trouble for several safety violations. they uncovered four weapons but say he is still armed and dangerous. they are supposed to be contacting us on the latest search efforts, time now 6:02 tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. the people killed in that

shooting rampage, 51-year-old john robert from san jose and 58-year-old mark nunez also from san jose. despite that shooting classes will be held in the area. as a precaution all schools were on lockdown yesterday. students at pettersen school were kept in their first period class all day before being released to their parents. there will be a continued presence around the schools in the area and parents will be notified if anything changes through the school district's emergency notification system. in overnight news police moved in on demonstrators who were part of the occupy ss movement. kraig debro is outside the federal reserve bank where a handful of protesters are still there this morning, kraig

debro? >> reporter: yes, last night police moved in and took some action and these protests have been going on since september. this is for the federal reserve, you can see people are still here. i spoke to a sergeant on the scene. one was arrested for battery on a police officer but protesters are still at this protest. now overnight san francisco police did make one arrest and we got it on videotape but it was for battery on a police officer but they were told to remove that isn't tents or -- remove their make-shift tents and a lot of people did that moving stuff out of the way, it just means they are not allowing them to sleep here overnight. this one started in conjunction with the one in new york, you can see the pictures from that. they brought in different people from different walks of

life protesters say they want more corporate accountability and they brought in more people which makes them not your typical protests. >> overnight there are allegations by the protesters that may be san francisco police were too rough on protesters. i talked to the person who shot the cell phone video who tells me there were a group of protesters trying to block the street officers were trying to get them out of street but one woman was not in the street at the time she was shoved to the ground and he thinks the officer was just a little too rough. >> it shows the company using unnecessary force on one of our protesters and she clearly was not expecting it and clearly was on the side where they were telling us to move to. >> so about 800 people in san francisco with this occupy s f protest, mostly peaceful, they

they checked in with an inch of rain after 4:00 yesterday. oakland 7.2 and even mountain view, all 24 hour record rain totals so how are we doing so early in the year? i would say we are doing well. santa rosa are 3.4% over normal and they should have a third of an inch. they are 246% of normal. san jose should have 5.6. there is more coming in today and it looks like things will calm down and our forecast models were bullish for rain next weekend so it backed up and there is no consensus and this is a cool system for so early in the season. rain stretching from mendocino, back in marin county it looks like cells developed also on

stars and it will start raining and there is plenty of rain coming down in lake county and parts of mendocino county have had five inches of rain and that's incredible for any time of year but especially october. some of these rain totals are well above normal and some are popping up on the skyline on the peninsular half-moon bay and pescadero, stretching back to sonoma back over to -- hillsboro we are getting plenty of shower activity some of that will be heavy, 0s and 5 -- 40s and 50s, this is unseasonably cool as you know.

hurt but he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. a mumps outbreak is forcing the state department to vaccinate everyone on campus. so far 13 students have tested positive and 13 others are expected to have caught the virus. it cause cause fever severe swelling and fatigue and doctors are concerned since all the infected students received the recommended inoculation. the health department is recommending a third dose for everyone at berkeley. offering free breast exams for unsured women, and it is in honor of women. now scheduled for october 12th and october 18th in pittsburgh and richmond, the first 40 women at each of the fares will get the free exams.

deadly shooting in cupertino. tara moriarty joins us where authorities from a number of agencies have conducted this exhaustive search for shareef allman. >> reporter: shareef allman has managed to evade law men for 24 hours now, he tried to carjack a woman not far from where we are standing and if you look behind me the sheriff's department has a presence and that's their mobile unit. deputies are no longer searching because they believe shareef allman has man anded to he is -- manage dollars to escape this area. emotions definitely ran high as families waited to see if their loved ones survived the shooting rampage. 47-year-old shareef allman who was a loading operator opened fire killing three co-workers and injuring several others. here is one person inside that

all over the world people are morning the death of steve jobs who died after a long battle with cancer. joining us live she is at world headquarters in cupertino, here is more. >> reporter: people have come here to the headquarters in cup to pay their respects and to remember steve jobs but it is taking place in a variety of forms, people holding up their iphone or ipad with a candle and people have actually dropped off actual apples and the flags are flying at half staff, people are trying to do what they can to remember this man. this is being seen across the world and i want to show you some video we have just gotten in from shanghai china, that apple store, people posted an

online tribute from what country, and we also have video from tokyo japan where people left flowers outside the apple store where they reportedly had a moment of silence before opening there. and here people came to pay tribute, apple here has been quiet in cupertino, after the announcement came yesterday, employees were asked not to talk to reporters, but again the flags are flying at half staff, the apple website where people can send their condolences. he changed the way each of us sees the world. we just walked around the corner and saw a bunch of roses laid out in a parking space as well. just marking it and a little pit further down people have put stuff by the apple sign but

people are trying to figure out where and how they remember him. >> the other apple co-founder issued this statement about the death of steve jobs. quote we lost something we will not get back they were high school friends and he said jobs looked ill when he last saw him about three months ago. colossal high tech deal in the works, microsoft is considering a bid for yahoo. they tried to buy up the search engine in 2008, coming up reasons why this megamerger may not happen. they showed the u.s. energy department was preparing to give solyndra a second government loan more than $450 million despite the company's financial troubles. e-mails were released as part

of the investigation into the original $535 million federal loan given to solyndra in september of 2009. now the energy program showed problems with alone after they warn -- a loan after being warned of the company's financial problems. one person is dead and a gas leak in the area tied to that shooting has now been capped off. a man was shot between 70th avenue and favor street just before 10:00. he then drove his car a couple of blocks away, pulled over in a driveway and crashed into a parked mini van. it caused it to move into a building causing structural damages and causing a gas leak. the gas leak has been stopped and people don't have to worry about it, the man who was shot was rushed to the hospital but

he later died of his injuries. two people had injuries after a high-speed chase and it happened after midnight while a woman was sitting at a red light. where police say another car came speeding down the hill, lost control and smashed right into the woman's car. the force of the impact flipped over the woman's suv and crumpled the man's car. right now both of them are still at general hospital. they are issuing refunds for long-term parking lots over the last two years. they incorrectly charged customers saturdays and sundays when parking should have been free. those affected will be issued an immediate refund on their

>> reporter: there is a little bit of a controversy about how police handled them behind me. market street, you can see there are still signs behind me and buses are passing by and you can see a wall with a number of signs and to the right which i believe is the other side of market street, the police over there, there is a large police presence and you can not see how far down those cars go but they go further than just that. people are extremely upset about how america's financial system seems to favor one and not others. they handed out a piece of paper telling protesters they were violating ordinances and police did make one arrest and that person was arrested on suspicion of battery on a

back over to sal to check in on traffic, any problems, sal? >> well we do have minor glitches that could cause some slow downs pam, let's look and you can see traffic is backed up beyond the 880 crossing and it is a 15 or 20 minute delay, no major problems. it looks good on interstate 880 in both directions and oakland no major problems and we have had some slowed traffic in oakland and san leandro. southbound 17, a little slowed traffic approaching loss gots. we had some traffic because of road debris which has been cleared up, hayward union city fremont heading south, you will see some traffic there. let's go to steve.
