>> reporter: a woman was shot and robbed and shot between high and 35th. we talked to an employee of the ace hardware who says that he overheard a witness telling police that it started in the parking lot of this lucky over here across the street. the witness told the police, the man tried to carjack, possibly carjack the woman over here and then she ran across the street. he was chasing her across the street. the witness said she almost hit them in her car. then they ended up over here on the sidewalk. i will show you where this happened. ended up over here. and this is where we meet belinda. what did she tell you? >> she told me the guy went to grab my purse. i snatched it back. he said. i won't shoot you. and he shot me twice. >> you came out here and helped her. what happened there. >> one of my employees took his

belt off. and made a turn kit with it. and shot in the -- tourniquet here. and finally got her to tell me her name. and her name was nene. >> and i said it is okay. >> she said i didn't do anything. >> i could tell she was going into shock. >> thank you. alexis up the street here at macarthur and tried to go westbound. and crashed his car. the police were right there. so were we. they had their guns drawn. the man was no longer in the car. the oakland police asked the highway patrol to shut down 580 west bounds. had he they did that, it was closed for two hours. they said they would rather do that, than inconvenience people. it is a safety issue. they wanted to catch a guy who had a gun and used it.

we will be back with more from belinda. and others who saw what happened here. reporting live from oaklands, kraig debro. they will meet this morning to talk about this week's deadly shooting. there are still many unanswered questions about what set off this gunman. they shot and killed him yesterday morning after he displayed a gun. allman was the subject of an intense manhunt. he shot nine coworkers, killing three of them. he was afraid of losing his job and made troubling comments. >> that he was going to do some damage basically. if he was going to go out and kill some people. that was going to happen to him and his family. >> coworkers say allman had safety violations at work.

and leahy executives kill ktvu, there were no plans to fire allman. >> lehigh is paying its employees while the plant is closed and will cover costs of the funerals for the three people killed. a long time truck driver is talking publicly about the shooting rampage. mike ambrose yo tells the news, -- ambrosio, he was shot in the arm and pretended to be dead. a week ago, he told shareef allman. he would no longer represent him because of the safety violations. underground failure was blamed for this accident. it came at piedmont avenue. and witnesses describe hearing a boom. the electrical fire knocked out power to 5,000 pgand e customers and -- pg and e customers. >> there are extra patrols and

the university campus following reports of a sexual assault there. it happened last friday night inside a room at the towers residence hall. now the 18-year-old victim said she was visiting campus to attend a party with her friends. the attacker lowered her into an elevator and led her to a room where she thought the party was located. they don't know if the suspect lived there or was just a visitor. >> they learned apple has no plans to hold a memorial service for its cofounder steve jobs. but before the death, they made sure his home was protected. apple security met with palo alto police. advance notice gave officers time to plan how they would safeguard his peninsula home. it sits on a public street where anyone can walk or drive up to the front yard. they assigned extra patrols to the neighborhood. 40 people turned up when news of his death came late

a demonstration is planned outside the u.s. attorney's office giant's star tim lincecum will have to deal with a lawsuit in the off season. it is filed in the superior court yesterday. coming up in seven minute, what it accuses the star pitcher doing to the apartment he was renting in the city. a search is underway for three men who may be connected to a fatal shooting after man in santa rosa, the victim's body was found in front of a butcher shop on todd road. it happened shortly after 2:00 yesterday afternoon. investigators say the three men they are seeking were seen at the scene of the shooting. they were reported to be in a black cadillac. now a man in san francisco became the victim of two crimes in just one day. police say he was robbed at gunpoint near city college on tuesday night. the suspects took the man's

who is a figure leading protests against the yemen president as part of the arab spring uprising there are rumors that the peace prize would go to mark salt laker burg because of the role facebook has played. he said for facebook or social media to claim any meaningful role in the up risings would be extremely arrogant. a san jose graduate student removed from a flight is now suing southwest airlines for discrimination. the u.s. citizen of pakistan was wearing her traditional muslim head scarf on a flight from san francisco toe san jose in march. she was talking on a cellphone when she said. i have to go the plane is about to depart. the flight attendant thought she said it's a go. and she was then taken off the

plane. >> that still haunts me. and that is myself and my attire. i do not want anyone from any state to be treated with discrimination. >> she boarded the next flight to san jose and is seeking unspecified damages. southwest has apologized for the incident. and she said she hopes the lawsuit will push the airline to reconsider their employee training policies. economy watch this morning in less than an hour. we will find out if more jobs were created in september. economists forecast, that it will show little or no job growth. >> it shows they think employee aves took on 50,000 new workers last month and that would mean the unemployment rate remains stalled at 9.1%. a california insurance fund plans to lay off 1500 workers in the next month.

when they talk about the weather it is important. it was important because for october we have a lot going on. not only did we get a lot of rainfall. but the cold air is settled in right behind. all signs point to, even though the weekend will be warmer. it will be mostly sunny. but the mornings are going to be chilly and deal with patchy fog. sonoma airport said fog and it is mainly clear. record rainfall yesterday. remember, we don't get a lot usually in october. oakland airport picked up some. that was a record. hayward, two bits. and at the ifairport 13/100th. and you can throw santa rosa in for the record. if you know we had a lot of rain, we did. for so early in the season, its record-setting. >> clipping the northern part of the state and look at the lows. they are in the 40s and even the city is down to 52. so, i am letting you know.

lincecum is being sued. he is accused of staying past the expiration of the lease. the lawsuit seeks $350,000 in damages. lincecum is not commenting but his agent calls the lawsuit frivolous. 12 members of the motorcycle club are facing charges after statewide raids netted 300 weapons and 40 pounds of cocaine. now the raids in southern california follow a deadly shooting outside a parks, nevada casino. they have been arrested for that incident. they say they are being unfairly targeted and call their organization a social group. authorities disagree. >> this gang, you know, motorcycle gang, a ruthless criminal motorcycle gang has been terrorizing our community for years. if not decades. >> 40 to 50 state indictments are expected as a result of the

investigation. >> the death of that missing mother of three in san jose is now a homicide investigation. 28-year-old valerie's body was found wednesday. they do not have a motive or know where she was killed. casillas' family is posting flyers. she was last seen getting into a silver pontiac grand prix or a flu chevrolet tahoe suv, her death marks the 34th homicide of the year. that's the highest rate since 1997. pacifica police closed their investigates of a pregnant woman killed by her own dog. a pit bull attacked her inside her home in august. investigators say something set off the dog but they don't know what. well, there will be neighborhood safety meetings next week following a recent spike in home burglaries. they are happening during

daylight hours in the hills neighborhood and they likely started monday. a witness reported seeing people loading property into a green or blue station wagon. police urge those who live in the area to make sure all doors and windows are locked and to consider installing burglar alarms. >> the meeting is on wednesday at the arlington clubhouse. they are going to take over the empty buildings to give the homeless a place to stay. >> they led a group of people on a march passed vacant homes in san jose. they led prayers in front of the houses that the banks now own after foreclosures. and those properties could provide refuge to people like down brown and her two sons. >> there are so many in the city and they are amazing. there are families like us struggling and out of work. it is really hard.

jackson's life. yesterday, the defense questioned a coroner's investigator, who collected evidence at jackson's home, about how the evidence was collected. now, she denied claims that she made a number of mistakes. the state's ban on public rail transit operators using cellphones is permanent. they found two separate accidents in 2008 were most likely caused by train operators using cellphones just before the accident. one of those was the collision between two san francisco muny trains that injured passengers. the state will require all transit agencies over seen by the state to install cameras to enforce the ban. take a look at this video. a massive sinkhole. watch this. we can watch it fall in as it happens in san diego. part of the collapse caught there on camera. it happened near uc campus at san diego yesterday.
