friends said it was so bad their friend in the car is now pare lazed. this is what police said. the van was drive agriculture collided and took out the fence. these tire marks and a broken fence all that are left of the early morning accident, this man who asked not to be identified knows three involved. >> glad my brother is okay and my roommates. that's the main thing. >> reporter: just after 10:30 police say six people were in this congress charger when it was hit. the air bags were deployed. >> both driver was arrested on suspicious of driving under the influence and the passenger in one of the vehicles was also arrested for suspicious of possession of narcotics. >> reporter: two roommates were in the backseat and his brother in the front. >> he was in the passenger

seat and saw headlights coming to the car. he woke up and they were cutting the top of the car off. >> reporter: they ranged from 23 to 39. the two men in the van are 18, his brother and friends were having a good time and on their way home. now his brother will be in the hospital for a while. >> he is in a lot of pain. he has a small puncture in his lungs. >> reporter: about an hour ago a spokeswoman said that two people are listed in critical condition and three are in serious. live in san francisco, ktvu channel 2news. >> it's all cleared up now but south bay drivers saw a big mess on 101. the police said a tractor trailer overturned dumping scrap metal in all northbound lanes. that back up as you see stretched for miles until crews were able to clean up the metal

and remove the big rig. all lanes of the highway reopened about three hours later. >> tonight in turkey the death toll in yesterday's quake has hit 280. hundreds more are missing as rescuers rush to find survivors in the wreck. . >> the cries of mourners and the wall of sirens rang out. hundreds of after shocks have hit the area since yesterday's quake. rescue crews are digging through collapsed buildings using cranes, shovels action shovels. people pulled others alive from the rubble. some 1300 people were hurt in the quake and thousand its are now homeless. those who still have homes are -- even though many homes still standing they have no power.

>> reporter: bay area quake engineer spoke to us from germany. he was in turkey until the day before the quake advicing the world bank on retro fitting. he said turkey engineering is poor. >> because the lack of checking, lack of codes enforcement. this is one of the outlying areas of turkey where all of that is very difficult. as we speak we have completed retro fitting, over 800 hospital buildings. >> reporter: he said turkey is asking for international loans for retro fitting. experts say the remote eastern area is complex, the plates stabbing like an arrow. the quake the biggest there in 35 years. >> they keep teaching us new lessons, we need to really have a good look at how does this apply to us. >> reporter: bay area red cross

up, this protester has been up there for more than 13 hours refusing to come down. because of safety concerns workers standing by until it happens. as the sun rose the 27-year-old stood up on a wall holding a sign. >> he isn't crazy. >> reporter: he said he managed to scale a section of the wall climbing on top of a trash can. >> we won't confront him, we won't cause him to fall or jump trying to escape. he isn't hurting anybody. he isn't damaging anything. >> i support the idea of a peaceful protest. i'm a little leery of climbing on top of a building much. >> reporter: protesters made near signs after it was cleared this morning. >> this is the second one. >> reporter: chris was one of four arrested for violating a ordinance. >> i plan to stay here. i'm not going anywhere.

the movement. 100 lead protest he is in a walk through the city. they made stops at several banks including wells fargo. they said they are in support with those protesting the financial practices on wall street. some marchers wore grim reaper costumes reading death of injustice while others carried a bowl labeled greed. in oakland protesters continue their camping. they have been told they can't stay after ten and ordered them to remove tents, sleeping basses and other gear. organizers also say police are now ticketing driver who pull into a no parking zone and make donations to the protesters. >> the president said today he is tired of waiting for congress to act so he revealed the first in a series of initiatives he says will boost the economy.

because of a big rig accident. the chp says those southbound lanes will not be reopened until about 5:30. that's more than a hour from now. you can see here as we pan out that the traffic is backed up for miles. the problem is there is no good alternate route. the only thing is you may want to consider taking 116 to 121 to 37 and then back to 101. southbound lanes of 101 won't reopen until about 5:30. we have an eyewitness of the hit and run that killed a member of the hell's angel on 580. why the suspect with being held isolation. >> reporter: this afternoon the sheriff's deputies contermed eddie hall has a cell alone here and they say it's for his own protection and there is good reason for that. investigators are still looking in to saturday's deadly crash

on 580 in san leandro. 30-year-old eddie hall was driving a van and swerved in to a pack of motorcycle siders killing george lopez. today we spoke to oscar jose, riding with lopez and said a van came at them unprovoked. >> that dude just snapped. i will tell you that right now. there is no reason why he did that. >> reporter: investigators say the impact threw lopez from his bike, witnesses say hall drove over lopez and then kept on driving, weaving in and out of lanes, dragging lopez's motorcycle for a mile. sheriff caught him trying to run away from the van and the burning motorcycle. hall is now in jail facing felony hit and run and homicide charges. the sheriff's office confirmed is he isolated for his protection. >> just ran over a hell 's
