president speaking just a couple hours ago at a quick fundraising stop. we are live in the city with the president's short visit raised a lot of money and brought out hundreds of protesters >> reporter: the president left the campaign fundraiser here at the hotel just about two hours ago and the protesters who lined the streets also gone, the president never saw them. the hundreds of protesters gathered at the front of the w hotel, the president's motorcade waved at stunned pedestrians who happened by. there was a small handful of environmental protesters. >> i feel likely because as the president was turning the corner he looked in our direction and waved. i don't know if he saw the sign. >> reporter: hundreds gathered behind barricades police set up, they came for different reasons and represented different causes, some were

when sentenced. >> the president said american troops in iraq will be home for the holidays and that includes 850 members of the california national guard. a study found that one out of every four members of the guard is facing financial trouble as they try to ballet full time job with repeat deployments to the battle field. >> i don't think it was anticipated, how many would be affected or the length of it, how long it would go on. people have had three or four deployments. >> reporter: a study also found that national guard members required more mental health training than active duty full time soldiers, more than 3200 remain deployed in other countries. >> the army has lost it's first female soldier part of a special support team in afghanistan. ashley white of north carolina national guard was killed this weekend. she and two others died from wounds they suffered in a bomb

the process of gathering in front of the main library. we can see from high above there are a lot of people in the street. the crews on location say they think it's about 300 people gathered here. we are talking about the area of 14th street and mad sob. the main library for oakland. if you are familiar the lake it's the west end of the lake. here on the ground, you can see there are a lot of people and some signs that saying take it back, tax wall street. this is happening several hours after police moved in to the main camp right in front of city hall and then a smaller camp set up near the lake. this is a new location. we haven't brought you pictures of protesters at the main library before. i have been reading online and seeing a bit talk that they may be thinking of marching back to the city hall location and sort of resetting up their camp there. again a look from high above. a lot of people in streets,

about 14th street and madison. doesn't look like any car traffic is coming through and we don't flow if the march -- how it might affect street traffic around the area and downtown oakland. i just called the library here in the break we took a second ago and wasn't able to get through. i don't know if they are affected, closes at 5:30 so it should be open but the main story there are a lot of protesters gathered at the oakland main library. if they march we will bring that to you live and let you know how it impacts traffic. >> a brutal day for netflix, they lost almost 35% of its value after its stock dropped more than $41 to close at $77 a share. back in july their stock was $300 a share. maureen naylor. >> reporter: today was the sharpest drop for netflix drop in seven years and comes after the 17 page letter went out

to september. they say the rating is a sign for the economy as consumers start to prepare for the upcoming holiday season. >> poor corporate earning reports and the european debt crisis sent stocks down today. wall street reacted to gloomy news, in europe financial ministers canceled a meeting on the global debt crisis. the dow fell 207 points, nasdaq dropped 11. a lot of people have computer tablets spend a lot of time looking at the news through the internet but they are reluctant to pay for it. 11% of adults own a tablet and use it 9 the minutes a day. less than a third pay for the news. 14% said they have never paid for news content. >> police said the antioch man shot and killed by officers

last evening had a hand gun and was wanted for crimes. the shooting happened around 5:50 on lemon tree court in antioch. the 33-year-old joshua peterson was shot in a carport after he stepped out of a closet with a gun. he was pronounced dead at the scene. funeral services are set for this saturday in san jose for a member of the hell's angels killed during another funeral at the same cemetery almost two weeks ago. steve townsend was shot to death during the funeral of jeff pettigrew, the suspect is another hell's angel still on the run. the funeral is supposed to be private. about 4,000 people showed up for the last one. >> homicide investigation is underway involving the killing of a man from oakland found in baja california he was found where he was living. investigators say he was killed by two of his tenants.

. a national black sorority is warning its members to remove items linking them to the group because they are apparently being targeted by a social rapist. police released this surveillance video of the alleged suspect. he is a accused of four sexual assaults dating back to november of last year. the victims all black women in their mid50s to mid60s and are members of delta sigma theta. members told to remove anything identitying them as members.

donald gene booth. he is a accused of robbing four banks in san francisco. he is set to return to court next month. a security guard accused of shooting his supervisor in richmond has been charged with eight felony counts including attempted murder. police say he shot and injured his supervisor in their security office at a public housing complex. he is a accused of shooting into his neighbor's home and barely missing a 9-year-old. if convicted he could face life. he is set to appear in court next week. >> new figures suggest that home prices stabilizing in some hard hit areas. in half of the 20 cities, prices increased in august from the previous month. san francisco is among the cities that saw a decline. biggest increase was in washington, chicago and detroit. analysts say the new data provides hope that the market could be turning around. >> pg&e continues its pipe

camped out for several days if not a couple weeks until police moved in very early this morning. now what you can see here is a crowd we are thinking about two to 300. there are police -- it's a little difficult to tell but there are police there, trying to keep them marching down 14th. not to go off into the side streets, we can't tell you what some of the crowd members are chanting but it's something like no justice no police, no justice peace blank the police. you can figure out what they are saying. the protest marching down 4th street. we will watch it. obviously if you are traveling in downtown oakland be aware this is going to cause traffic problems during the height of rush hour. we will keep you posted on any new developments and return to the situation later during the newscast and at six. pg&e has found a problem in a gas pipeline near bakersfield

that could have made the san bruno blast look small. what does it mean? tom is in san leandro where they are water pressure testing another big gas line this week. >> reporter: here is the test going on even as we speak. they just pulled the pipe out of the ground to run water in there. the purpose of the tests -- use water to find a leak. under extreme pressure a gas transmission lined failed. >> it was a small piece but still there are no excuses when it comes to safety and we are immediately taking action to replace that line. >> reporter: the 61-year-old pipe is four inches wider than the 32-incher that failed in san bruno. the water test produced failure of a seam, the pipe . it failed
