it happened just 90 minutes ago. an early-morning quake rattled the east bay. reaction from the many people who got jolted out of bed. >> reporter: and hundreds of protesters here in san francisco stood at the ready, ready for the police raid that never happened. we'll tell you how it all went down. and how an injured member of "occupy oakland" is being honored here at frank ogawa plaza. good morning. i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. we're receiving reports of a magnitude 3.6 earthquake hit at 5:36 this morning. the quake was centered one mile east of berkeley and six miles deep. several ktvu viewers are telling us bottles fell down and shattered and some items also fell off their dressers. >> just started shaking a little bit. it probably lasted two or three seconds and it was alarming. >> reporter: are you ready for the big one? >> no. i'm from new york originally. so not yet. >> it was really a short shake. it was not the big kaboom like last week. >> this morning's quake is in the same area as last week's quake along the hayward fault. on the ktvu "mornings on 2" facebook site viewers from san

francisco to castro valley felt the shaker. wendy said her daughters woke up screaming "earthquake! "we'll have a live report on that quake coming up at 7:15. and a reminder, our special report, the next great quake will run tonight at 9:on ktvu. the special will look at earthquake preparedness, updates in technology prediction and just how prepared we are for the big one. the program airs tonight at 9:00 on channel 2. police backed up on their plans to occupy protests. claudine wong has more. good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning.

it's still unclear if police will decide to raid this plaza afterall but a source just told ktvu, it's likely if they do come will not come today that's because they had already used up their resources. they had planned to come. protesters communicating through tweets and text messages about police movements. even after an announcement the raid was cancelled protesters were still worried it would happen. [ chanting ] >> be ready! >> be ready! >> we're not done yet! >> we are not done yet! >> reporter: eventually people will start to leave,up around 5:15. it was a long night with hundreds practicing for the police response. that said, protesters said they were happy to avoid a confrontation. >> i'm glad there wasn't a raid. i have no never in battling with the cops. i think this is about creating

a new space, a new worldened -- a new world, and a new way to exist. i think it's better when we get to focus on what we're building and not to have -- and not have to fight for it. >> reporter: we did see police out here walking within the last half-hour or so just kind of keeping an eye on things. this was actually a political hot spot. several politicians made an appearance. five members of the board of supervisors came out here along at 1:30 this morning, along with leland yee. >> you see how active people are and how committed they are and to have it shut down i think is a horrible situation. >> reporter: back out here live at "occupy sf", you can see people okay occupying and we are at stat physical -- occupying and we are here at

status quo. what will happen now? will the department of public health come back down here? will police come out here? we'll keep an eye on it. sources say the used up resources in possible preparation for the raid. now that it's been cancelled, it's likely we won't see any police activity out here today. claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, claudine. it's 7:04. meanwhile a handful of occupy protesters remain outside of city hall and protest leaders are now planning their next big move. ktvu's kraig debro is live outside of city hall. what are they planning? >> reporter: well, a permanent presence for the time being. they've also done some work on this -- for the injured iraqi war vet. he was injured when police allegedly hit him with perhaps a can of tear gas. when i said "permanent presence" i was talking about the tent there and next to the

tent you can see three or four people sleeping on the ground there. yesterday, however, we did see a -- yesterday a large number of members gathered for a daily general assembly, during which they determined there would be a strike on september 2nd. a conflict -- december 2nd. a conflict broke out. the fence here is meant to support a 10:00 p.m. curfew. some people started to dismantle the fence. others chanted for cooperation. [ chanting ] >> but the demonstration did not end there, least the disagreement didn't. while some pranced behind frank ogawa plaza, others pleaded with them to consider a possible consequence of the ack hundred. >> i need three people to -- action. >> i need three people to help lift this. >> i've been a part of the

activist movement since i lived in l.a. for about 15 years. >> then why don't you go back to l.a.! >> after the disagreements were over, the fence came down anyway and demonstrators built a structure with pieces of the fence and barricades left behind by police. scott olson fractured his skull as police tried to break up a police presence. there you see in the foreground, people are using these for chairs and behind that to give you an idea, that's the barricade they erected overnight. still trying to speak to someone here on camera about the next organized piece of protest in this move. november 2nd is the general strike called by members of the general assembly for students and workers.

back to you. >> thank you, kraig. stay with ktvu for continuing coverage of the occupy protests and you can go to ktvu.com any time for the updates on the demonstrations. ktvu.com. 7:07. despite pleas from angry and frustrated parents, teachers, the oakland school board made the decision to close down five elementary schools. lakeview, lazier, mash shall, maxwell park and santa fe. yesterday afternoon there was a protest to the hearing before the big vote. about 500 parents, teachers and students went to the meeting trying to save their schools. however, the oakland school district says those closures are necessary because of falling enrollment and cutbacks in state funding. this is just the first round. there are plans for more schools to be either closed or merged next year. now, pam cook will have a lot more about the school closures for you coming up at 7:30.

it is 7:08. we want to check in with sal castanedo keeping a close eye on the commute. >> this morning we have a new crash. it's not even that new. about a half-hour old now on westbound 92 at 280. it's -- it's an injury crash with a vehicle on its roof and traffic is slow in both directions there on highway 92 approaching interstate 280 as you can see. also, let's move along and take a look at 280 in san jose, stop stop-and-go traffic. people are up early. this might be -- this is just a theory, people may have been woken up by the quake. what the heck? i'm awake. i'm gonna go. we can't show you the bay bridge toll plaza but i will mention that the bay bridge toll plaza is backed up for about a 15, 20-minute delay. that camera will be back in just a minute. golden gate bridge, southbound traffic looks pretty good. let's go to steve.

sal, i had a couple of tweets on that, i was awake -- >> i saw that. >> good morning. beautiful. it will be beautiful. a lot of 30s and 40s. the breeze has tailed off dramatically. the low moved into the rockies and they have some snow. high pressure moves in. will -- will still be nice by the coast. it will not be as windy. the lows, 30s and 40s sunshine for everybody. nice to mild. mid-70s. high cloud deck associated with that system right there. it's not doing anything. it will clear the area fast. kinwood, 34. sonoma, 35. yountville, 37, which is 25 degrees cooler than yesterday at this time. i know around walnut creek, a couple of 39s palo alto, four readings i think -- i think i saw. 37 napa, they were down to 34.

looking at cold and fog. temperatures, 30s and 40s. we'll have sunshine. highs, a lot of low to mid-70s. tori? >> thank you. world markets are breathing a huge sigh of relief this morning. wall street is opening strong, as you can see, on the screen. the dow is currently up 225 points above 12,000 at 12,09 had -- 12,094. alison burns reports the rise comes a after -- comes after european leaders agree. >> reporter: this is a look at video we brought in overnight of satellite of european union leaders meeting in brussels. their agreement requires to take losses up to 50% so greece would not default on its debt

and it provides more money for a bailout fund for countries like italy and spain. here on capitol hill, treasury officials have been sounding the alarms about the need for a breakthrough in europe. >> the debt crisis weighs on us heavily here. >> reporter: treasury department officials are testifying about it again today in front of a congressional committee. tim dwight ther had been one of the -- tim geithner had been one of the loudest voices pushing for this. alison burns, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, alison. the republican chairman of the house committee says president obama's recent bus trips to promote his jobs plan and criticize republicans is not helpful. >> instead of working together where we agree, the president has opted for divisive rhetoric

in the broken politics of the past. he's going from town to town, impugning the motives of republicans. >> that's representative paul ryan. president obama has made several trips around the country recently, including a swing out west this week, a stop in san francisco on tuesday. he's been pushing his jobs bill and other plans. he's issuing through an executive order because he says republicans just block everything he proposes. as we mentioned earlier, a 3.6 quake hit near berkeley just about an hour and a half ago and an even larger quake rattled lake tahoe. the 4.7 shaker hit shortly after 11:30 last night. eric rucker is live in truckee. was there any damage, eric? >> reporter: you know, we've been here since 1:30 this morning and we have yet to see any. you are getting the typical stories about shelves shaking and windows being rattled. but as far as damage goes, not

a whole lot. the actual earthquake itself -- well, the stories differentiate depending upon who you talk to and where they were and what kind of foundation they were on. we talked to a camper in the woods. he felt it all. we were talking to a worker inside the safeway who described shelves shaking. >> something just woke us up. we thought it was a rockridge right above us. we kind of freaked out a little bit and deciding what we're gonna do. it started to happen again and we just took off and hiked out. >> we heard a whistling kind of sown and then all of a sudden -- sound, and then all of a sudden everything started to shake. nothing fell off the shelves but the windows were shaking hard. >> reporter: you just heard that woman saying nothing

coming off the shelves. we went into the safeway a short time ago to look at the surveillance video to see if we could see any action from this earthquake and because we apparent -- the foundation here is so well -- is built so fell, there was shaking in that video. so no reports of injuries and not any damage that we could find here. we're live in truckee this morning. back to you. >> thank you for that report from truckee. 7:18. well, rain and snow in turkey this morning, making life even tougher for the people who survived sunday's powerful earthquake. the turkish government is setting up more tents for the survivors. the 7.2 quake killed at least 523 people, destroyed 2200 building. turkey is welcoming international help, even from its political rival, israel. and the continuing flooding crisis in tieland. look at these pictures. thailand's prime minister warned that parts of bangkok

could be flooded for up to a month. >> in some areas, the water is waste high. the -- waist high. the roads look like livers. 300 people have died since july. happening right now, secretary of state hillary clinton is testifying before the house foreign affairs committee about the way forward pakistan and afghanistan -- these are live pictures right now of that testimony -- secretary clinton just returned from visiting both pakistan and afghanistan. she's likely to face questions about afghan president hamid karzai's statement that his country would back pakistan if it went to war with the united states. 7:20. republicans are working on new legislation that would allow border agents more free rein on federal lands near mexico and canada. some of the agents say they are hampered by the current laws that keep them from driving on land that follows under u.s. environment protection but any say illegal immigrants and

smugglers walk through those territories undisturbed. they say they sometimes have to wait months before getting permission to put in surveillance equipment. however, environmentists and some democrats accuse conservatives of using the immigration issue for trying to roll back environment protections. rethinking their strategy. something new from occupy protesters in atlanta to keep their message alive. plus -- a stolen piece of history found before thieves could sell it. where this giant church bell was located. good morning. right now, traffic at the bay bridge toll plaza is pretty busy. we also have some also traffic and transit problems. we'll update you on those straight a -- straight ahead.

"occupy atlanta" protesters say they will now conduct so-

called guerrilla takeovers. they met last night after 50 protesters were arrested and discussed places where they can continue their movement. demonstrators are considering non-- nonviolently taking over areas that are foreclosures, and shelters. a tip led police to this century-old bell that was stolen. it was near a salvage yard in west oakland. police think the thieves stole the bell, planned to melt it down and then sell the copper. no arrests have been made yet. but investigators hope the owners of the scrap yard may have some information about the thieves. this giant bell was cast in 1889. it weighs more than 2.5 tons. >> it is 7:24. we want to check in with sal. it was interesting that you noticed that the roads looked

heavier thinking people got up early heading to get to work. >> people have been tweeting and have been saying, what the heck. it woke me up. i can't go back to sleep. might as well hit the roads. we've noticed a corresponding traffic. let's take a look at highway 92. this is newschopper2 coming over the san mateo bridge. newschopper2 we're sending it over to san leandro. we got word from one of our online friends that said there are a lot of people at the san leandro b.a.r.t. station. there's a major delay on b.a.r.t. they had equipment problems this morning at about 6:30. b.a.r.t. officials say they has nothing to do with the earthquake. that's what they say. just some major problems. fremont to richmond. pittsburg to sfo, those trains are not delayed yet. there are major delays on the

welcome back. some "occupy oakland" protesters are thanking supervisors to help avoid a shutdown. several were there showing their support for the moment. >> we think it's important that we as a city work to develop a protocol on how we can support the right to assembly and speech. we're also addressing any other issues the city may have. >> i think the police and health officials look at the

conditions and not overreact and violate people's civil rights. >> we have continuing coverage of the "occupy san francisco" protest this morning. we've asked our facebook followers whether the police should move in on the occupy demonstrators. we want to hear what you think. just go to facebook. log onto the morning news team page. we might share some of your comments on the air. you can also find news updates and send discuss messing as and story -- send us messages and story ideas. the big announcement last night, five schools will close. pam cook's in the newsroom with more on exactly who is affected. good morning, pam. >> good morning. well, five schools will close, and this is apparently just the beginning. the oakland school board says there are plans in the works to

merge several other schools. the schools that will close by the end of this school year are lakeview, lazier, marshall, maxwell park and santa fe. before the meeting there was a march to the meeting fof a final hearing -- for a final hearing for that vote. about 500 parents and teachers and students attended the meeting to try to save the schools but the officials say the closures cannot be avoided. san jose has 52 schools, just about half than oakland. oakland says this is just the first round and in the next two years, 30 schools are expected to be eliminated. a lot of it will be merging and consolidating. now, part of the problem, actually, is that a number of families have rushed to get their kids into charter schools in the mid of some budget problems.

but the district is asking the families to stick with them, stay with the public school system because by consolidating and merging and closing some of these schools, they will save money and be able to offer the kids, the students and the district more academic opportunities. we'll have more in the next hour. some of the details about some -- and we'll have some of the details about this. reporting live in the newsroom, i'm pam cook. let's go back to tori. it's a different story in the western contra costa school district. they voted to spare shan school -- shannon and plake elementary. the school board president, charles ramsey, tells ktvu that the district has been managing its money wisely and can keep both schools open. a proposal to move school boundaries in one san mateo neighborhood is one step closer to reality. last night, a redirecting panel

gave initial approval to a petition. the petition seeks to move 40 homes on fairmont drive to the san mateo foster city elementary and san mateo union high school district. the homes are currently in the belmont, redwood stores and sequoia district. approval is still needed. we're getting reports about minor damage from the earthquake just about two hours ago centered in the east bay. ktvu's tara moriarty is out there. she's at the scene, not far from the epicenter. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. people have been posting stuff on your website for the past few hours. one woman wrote some of her wineglasses spilled to the floor. another said the light fixtures swayed. someone else said all of the items on their dresser fell off. a lot of people feeling the

effects of the quake. we were initially told it was a 3.9. but we know now it was a 3.6. we're pretty close to the epicenter, about a mile away. it happened just east of memorial stadium at uc berkeley campus. our -- at the uc berkeley campus. and our view was there. we didn't feel it. but there were plenty who did. >> it was like one big shake followed by a jolt. >> it really shook. i was nervous. i -- yeah, it was kind of scary. >> i was reading the paper getting ready for my morning run and felt it in my kitchen. >> how bad was it? >> it was a good jolt. >> yeah? >> i'm okay. the house is okay. >> it shook, just a short shake. it wasn't the big kaboom like last week. >> reporter: so a lot of people at the coffee shop this morning were talking about it. but really no sweat for berkeley. they are used to these sort of things. there have been three

earthquakes, 3.0 or greater, centered nearby. last week we had the 3.9 and then the aftershock that many said was bigger than the earthquake. i felt that one. also, people as far away from -- as dublin felt it. we'll get more reaction from folks who felt it. back to you. >> thank you. 7:35. an 8-year-old boy is being treated at children's hospital in oakland after crashing a dirt bike. the chp says the boy was learning to ride at point reyes station yesterday afternoon. he lost control, hit a railing and fell off the bike. the bike fell off into sir francis drake boulevard. the little boy suffered a broken pelvis and was airlifted to the hospital. the contra costa county sheriff avenue department is shooting for a suspect in a

deadly shooting. it happened late yesterday. one witness told ktvu the victim was sitting in a car when he was shot by someone in another vehicle. his car rolled down a block and crashed into a retaining wall. that victim was pronounced dead there at the scene. the search is underway for a man police say sexually assaulted a woman on the campus of san bruno's skyline college. it happened tuesday night. the victim told police she was alone in a classroom when a man came in and a -- came in and attacked her. he fled the room after the assault. she's described as a white man, a tattoo or scar on his neck. anyone with information is asked to contact police. the trial for the sixth man accused in a richmond gang rape two years ago could be moved out of contra costa county. the lawyers requested the change of venue, saying the high level of publicity could

prepare the men of having a fair child -- fair trial. the six are accused of peating and raping a girl after a homecoming dance. they pled not guilty to several felonies. san jose is putting the finishing touches on a stadium land deal that it hopes will attract the oakland as. yesterday, the city released details of the plan to sell five acres to the as for $6.9 million. the city spent $29 million. last year it was appraised at $14 million. the city council was due to vote on the offer on november 8th. the city says the team would have to pay for a stadium itself. later today, governor jerry brown will announce a plan to overhaul california's

retirement system. the raise retirement age, 55 to 67. and they would have to pay more for the retirement and health problem. this would save about $9 million a year. he needs to have this proved aplan -- a -- this plan approved and then put it on the ballot for voters to decide. mailer problems on b.a.r.t -- sal. major problems on b.a.r.t. what's going on? >> outside the bayfair station. it does look like more people are getting on the trains. a little while ago someone sent us a tweet saying these stations were full of people. according to b.a.r.t. officials, major delays on trains from fremont to richmond, fremont to daly city and dublin, pleasanton to daly city. they say this is unrelated to this morning's earthquake. this started happening at around 6:30. they've still not been able to fix it. the trains are moving but they are severely set back. now some people just take b.a.r.t. they don't run on the schedule. people who are waiting for their train to show up at a spiff time will -- will be disappointed because they are not showing up at their specific times on these lines.

let's move along and take a look at the westbound bay bridge. that's backed up for a 25, 30- minute delay. if you are driving on the peninsula, 101 and 280 looking good. palo alto, mountain view, that looks pretty good in san jose. northbound 280 very slow traffic there. as you can see, the road sensors are very road from 680 all the way up to the lawrence expressway. 7:40. let's go to steve. all right, sal. thank you, sir. well, clear skies. a lot of 30s. these higher clouds -- now, yesterday at this time, there was fog all over the bay and parts of the north bay. this morning it's mostly clear and cold but the sunrise was gorgeous. our photographer, jessica, took this shot. peggy from la fayette just sent me a photo. sunrise does, you know, with the higher clouds that

definitely helps. nice glow to the sunrise. cold morning, sunny, mild. 70s on the high side. the weekend looks good. it will be dry. probably some fog coming back. we tried -- dried out the air mass. the next sign of rain for those of you who work outside -- andy coombs, he's a tennis pro, and he says i work outside, steve. i need to know when it's gonna rain. not this weekend, but next weekend, one of our models is pretty bullish. that fog got wiped out and it was windy in the hills and the wind and fog are now long gone. the system that came by. that's producing that band of high clouds. that will clear out fast. very chilly. kenwood, yountville, 36. 37 in sonoma. fairfax, 39. la fayette, pleasant hill. danville was in at 39.

12,000. nasdaq is up 52. s&p is up 26. and more slightly good news from the labor department. their latest report on jobless claims is a little better than expected. new jobless claims for last week's -- from last week slipped to 402,000. that's down 2,000 from the week before. this is the fourth time in the last six weeks that claims have dropped. >> the wife of bernie madoff said she and her husband tried to commit suicide after his multi-million dollar ponzi scheme came to light. in an interview, ruth madoff said she and her husband took a bunch of sleeping pills on christmas eve of 2008 but they woke up the next day. she said it was an impulsive move and she's glad they woke up. bernie madoff agreed to cheating investors out of 10s of billions of dollars and is serving a 150-year sentence in prison. the new jersey man accused

lead eventually to his death. that's according to the prosecution. but these witnesses sat up there, they were emotional. murray crying. at one point, one of the woman from houston, texas talked about how murray started a -- started an office in a very poor area of houston on his own time and money. to really run this clinic and serve people who had no money. >> he made a commitment to the community that he would open a clinic and honor -- in honor of his dad to come to the community and continue to take care of the patients in that community. >> reporter: now, once those witnesses were done, court was over for the rest of the day because we have two more expert witnesses now expected today. one of them couldn't come until today. so the court was adjourned for mely -- for really most of the day. the first witness will be talking about addiction. he's an addiction specialist.

good morning. welcome back to "mornings on 2." i'm tori campbell. >> i'm dave clark. it's thursday. it's october 27th. we're getting reports of minor damage from the earthquake a few hours ago. the quake hit at 5:36 this morning about a mile east of berkeley. six miles deep. several ktvu viewers are telling us about it. they are saying things like bottles of wine fell and shattered, light fixtures were shattered, things fell off their dressers. >> where did you go? >> in my closet. >> reporter: what did it feel like? >> a push from the side, nothing big. >> i felt a shaking in my house so i was checking on the animals. >> you are ready for the big one? >> i don't know. i'm pretty new to the bay area.

salmon. these chinook are native to russian river. they are considered a threatened species. so a large number returning, that would be an indication of improving conditions in both the russian river and the part of the pacific ocean where the salmon lived. 8:07. a consumer group has issued a warning about red light cameras that are operated by for-profit companies. the u.s. public interest research group says some private contracts penalize cities that don't approve enough tickets. the group says setting a ticket quota can compromise accuracy and safety. some 700 communities around the country reportedly outsource their red light camera system. let's go to sal. you are following problems with b.a.r.t. >> we've had some major problems with b.a.r.t. this morning because they had equipment problems near the bayfair station. they say this was not related to the earthquake.

"occupy wall street" demonstrators showed their support for the oakland

demonstration. hundreds har marched to the step -- marched to the steps of city hall. at one point, the protesters clashed with new york city police. officers made several arrests. there were a few minor injuries. now, at one point, the latest "occupy oakland" protest shipped toward downtown with -- shifted toward the downtown b.a.r.t. station. look at this. our ktvu news camera was there during last night's pretty tense confrontation. police shut down the gates to the 19th street b.a.r.t. station as the protesters tried to enter. demonstrators then taunted the police officers about the recent deadly shootings involving b.a.r.t. police. it's 8:20. oakland mayor jean quan was out of town when police cleared out protesters in front of city hall. quan says she authority iced the crackdown but left the timing up to police. she was in washington, d.c. where she says she had an important meeting set up regarding federal funding for oakland. she says when she got back.

tech. families are not taking the news lightly. about 500 parents, students and teachers gathered at mosswood park yesterday. they marched to the meeting to try to save their schools but the district says it cannot be avoided. now, just to give you some numbers, right now, oakland has 101 schools for million,000 students k through 12 and that compares to san jose's 52 schools just about half for nearly the same number of students. that's one of the reasons why oakland says they need to cut back. the oakland school district also says this is just the first round in the next two years, 30 schools are expected to be eliminated. now, board members also say hang in there because the moves will save the district about $2 million a year, money they say will be used to help improve the lives of students in oakland. reporting live in the newsroom, i'm pam cook. >> thank you, pam.

some occupy protesters in san francisco are thanking elected officials for helping to prevent a police crackdown overnight. several supervisors were there at justin herman plaza to show their support for the movement. >> we really think it's important that we as a city work to develop a protocol on how we can support the rights to speech while also addressing any other health concerns the city may have. >> i think the alternative is that the police and public health officials look at the conditions here and not crack down and overreact like oakland did and extreme violations. supervisor eric marsh says he and several other supervisors support a resolution before the board that would allow protesters to remain undisturbed. and we've asked our facebook followers whether they think police should move in. here's some of what you had to say. la kell wrote "leave them be.

venue. they say the high level of publicity around the case could prevent the men from getting a fair trial. now, the six -- now, the six are accused of beating and raping a 16-year-old girl outside of a homecoming dance. yesterday, they pleaded not guilty to several felony charges. their trial is tentatively set for next september. 8:36. san jose is. naming its price for a -- for a stadium land deal that it hopes to use in luring the as to the south bay. yesterday, the city released details of the plan to sell five downtown acres to the oakland team for 6.9 million. san jose spent 25 million for the parcel. last year it was appraised at 14 million. the city council is scheduled to vote on the offer on november 8th. san jose says the team would have to pay for the stadium itself. today, governor jerry brown will announce his plan to overhaul california's public

legislation allowing border agents free rein on federal lands near mexico and canada. federal agents say they are hampered by current laws that keep them from driving on dry -- that keep them from driving on dry land. but they say illegal immigrants and smugglers walk through the territories undisturbed. they sometimes have to wait months before getting permission to install surveillance equipment. but environmentists and democrats accuse conservatives of uses -- of using the issue to try to roll back the protections. a new poll shows gun ownership on the rise in the u.s. according to the gallup poll, 47% of adults say they have a gun in their home. that's up from had 1 -- up from 41% last year. gun ownership for women hit a new high, rising from 36% to 43%. and support for the right to own a firearm is also at a record high at 73%.

pretty close call for about 900 cows. they were in a barn in elk grove that caught fire. these cows were let out of the burn. none of them were hurt. firefighters were able to keep the spreads from -- keep the flames from spreading. they just let the hay burn itself out. it will probably take several days to put it out. 911 operators in ohio received a desperate call from a little girl after she decided to drive up in the family car to search for her mom. >> 911. your emergency? >> my mom's car backed out by accident and i need the police to pull my mom's car back in. >> well, the 5-year-old girl said she got scared when she got home from school and couldn't find her mom. after waiting three hours, she took her mom's keys and tried to drive off with the family
