alcohol. her name has not been released. frank ogawa plaza, now they are planning for a general strike on wednesday. >> ktvu channel 2 news' walker is out there right now and i understand the goal is to shut the city of oakland down. >> reporter: they have these flyers on the website and they are around the occupied oakland campsite, it is essentially a call for anyone with in the sound of my voice or their voices to come down in the city of oakland and eventually try to shut down the city of oakland which would also shut down support. city services will remain open and she is planning on something, she will return today the medical supplies that were taken from the camp but as

early. telling us about a new target date discussed for the project, kraig? >> reporter: typically after a game, players arrive at the training facility and i just spoke with her, she said she and the team has been working on it for about a year and news of this puts the final groundbreaking back on track. the new proposed stadium will cost a billion dollars to construct and the -- construct and it is all coming from redevelopment agency money the team is working with the city on a financial plan and news that the team may be able to present this soon is putting it back on schedule.

news, time now 6:13 the flow of mercury into an abandoned mine appears to be nothing more than a trickle. the independent journal appears toxic mercury and the decline comes after the environmental protection agency helped to protect drainages to help bring the mercury down. they help to bring wet weather down when it washed water into an abandoned mine into the bay. now they are indeed happening, richard muller shows the earth is 1.6 degrees warmer than in the 1950s. that matches findings from nasa in other agencies and they helped to pay for the research which that foundation is tied to the tea party. muller is set to outline research at a conference in numb. herman cane is facing a

it and cane's campaign calls it completely unsubstantiated. they are drudging up facts from the 1990s and they are now spreading rumors that never stood up to the facts. analysts say this morning, this is a big test for herman cane's campaign and how he handles it over the next few days will be very important for him. reporting live allison burns ktvu channel 2 news. he believes michael jackson gave himself a fatal dose of propofol. this time they will be questioning anesthesiologist paul white. he will be challenging that from dr. schaefer and schaefer told jury records, he believes

murray caused jacksons death. dr. murray pled guilty to involuntary man slaughter charges. recovery efforts following a deadly grain elevator explosion in kansas. three workers are still missing and presumed dead. emergency crews found the bodies of three other workers shortly after the explosion friday night. they stopped after they determined the building was not safe and the tragedy is a half rowing -- is a terrible reminder of dangers they face filled can highly combustible grain dust. san francisco police department recently fired two of its officers, one officer was fired for breaking department rules when it comes to dealing with it and one was fired to looking up confidential information about a private citizen.

sheriff's deputies -- sheriff's deputies said it was not enough for one would be thief, afterwards he jumped onto the fire truck and tried to drive away. deputies arrested the man and took him to the hospital to get treated for cuts. investigators are not sure why he broke into the post office in the first place but no mail was taken. americans will do something to celebrate halloween and people who mark the holiday will spend an average of $72 on decorations, candy and costumes, that is up $7 from last year's average. one reason they are spending is, you can get a lot of bang for your buck on halloween. >> people want to spend money on things that will make them happy and i think halloween is a happy holiday for everybody. >> some people look for ways to cut costs and one of the

easiest things to do is to make a costume instead of buying one. several around the area, winchester house which pam loves, fright night begins at 6:30, there is a free ghost tour in clayton and it begins at endeavor hall. and halloween night skate sponsored by the california outdoor roller skates association and begins in the ferry building. rock 'n' roll marathon ended in tragedy yesterday, a 40-year-old runner collapsed near the finish line. he was rushed to the hospital where he later died. his name has not been released and they say it was the only serious health problem during the race and more than 8,000 people participated. >> there it goes, fans lined the streets of st. louis to

6:30. >> the protests in frank ogawa plaza, despite the police, protesters say they are not giving up. she has been out there throughout the morning and she will be there next to tell us what is next about the movement. and police tear gas cancer remains in the hospital this morning, 25-year-old scott olson has been in the hospital but transferred to an undisclosed hospital on friday. his roommate said olson is expected to make a full recovery and olson's family is asking for privacy during his recovery. santa rosa waking up outside city hall and city officials say it is okay. they ruled over the weekend it's okay for protesters to camp out at least until the council's next meeting. protesters were worried they would send in police to shut

the camp down and possibly use force. one woman is camping out even though she lives just five blocks away. >> we have an arrangement, i stay at night and pick up the kids in the morning and that's about it. >> reporter: press democrat reports 40 people were at the camp as of last night. this is day 20 of the oakland protest at frank ogawa plaza and that police raid, some protesters say they are not even thinking about giving up. know well walker -- knoll walker -- know well walker has more on the protest. >> reporter: i just got a hug from an occupied protester, i have been talking to people including one woman who moved specifically into this area and

another woman who has been camping since day one told me they are learning by trial and error. >> i ve seen a lot of trial and error on the first time which was very organized but this is like the rebirth, we are here times two now. there is times for us where we actually say what we need to do and actually motivated to do now and that's what that reversal was all about. there are some reports speculating if the mayor did not return medical supplies they would occupy city hall and i spoke to a first aid sponsor and she said that was the first she heard of it and hoped it would not happen but the mayor says she has now located the supplies and will return them today but meantime they are preparing for wednesday's general strike and what they are asking is for everybody out there to come down and essentially occupy oakland for the day and shut down city

festivities are canceled after 2006 when nine people were hurt in a shooting. bars in the castro will be open but they will be cracking down on consumption on the streets. joining us from san francisco, tara moriarty has more on the hot spots for trick or treating, tara? >> reporter: this is actually one neighborhood that really gets into the halloween spirit and one hint i have is robin williams is one house with the big dinosaur in front. and francis wood gets into decoration answer it can get to be a mob scene come sundown. if you are going to trick or treat here, be careful because the traffic can make it scary. now we showed you this area and police will be blocking off that street so halloweeners can enjoy the dry ice called

drivens -- called drones. as you know san francisco has been ranked the top hot spot in america and there will be a lot of folks dressed up in costumes. this area is trunk or treats where they will be decorating car trunks and stuffing them with candy. they will be trick or treating for food in contra costa and there is a treat in san francisco and you may see people rollerblading in what is being called halloween skate night. there is a dentist who will be doing trick or treating of his own and he has been paying kids to bring their candy, chocolate bars and it will fill up an entire garbage dumpster.

no sweets but no cavities tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. the high school that raises fish stopped their plans. federal officials are trying to find out who cut the nets of casa grande's schools that opened the hatch are you which allow -- hatchery which allowed the fish to escape weeks ahead of schedule the fish and game donated 1,000 steel head trout to the group so these students can finish their conservation process. >> there is a pride associated with it and time and energy they put into it and now it is taken away from them. >> some of the students gave the fish a little kiss before letting them go off into the wild. students say they are not deterred by this sabotage effort and they plan to do it all again next year. >> i don't know about that tradition to give them a kiss to send them on their way.

. well,good morning to you welcome back, here is a look at some of the top stories, this is day 20 of the occupied oakland protests and they are planning for wednesday's general strike. they want people to march with them through the city streets and the goal is to shut down oakland. herman cane is accused of sexual harassment dating back

to the 1990s. according to the report two women accused him of sexual harassment during the time he was in charge of the restaurant association. also police will be out patrolling the castro district and there is no official street party this year but bars will be open and police will being cracking down on public drinking. it is called operation boo and it will make it a busy night for california parole agents. they will make sure registered sex offenders are not luring trick or treaters into their homes. state attorney general pamela harris will reveal the details during a news conference in san francisco. it becomes one of the most exciting teams in football and now we are learning the new

home of the 49ers, here is some of the new details we are finding out, kraig? >> reporter: and for some the record is not a surprise, they could be working on their new groundbreaking which could be starting on 2018, and she told me work on a financial deal to build that new stadium could be completed by the end of the year. the new proposed 500,000 seat stadium will cost to build and the contribution will be 4% of that, $40 million, if not much but all of it will be redonated. the city and the team have been working on this plan for the last 12 months and the timetable for completion has always been december of this year. >> we have been working on the development agreement for over a year now and we are getting

close to having that agreement finalized and approved before the end of the year. >> last year they beat the browns at candle stick park while the stadium may not present the team from being successful, new proponents say it is the oldest stadium in the park but if they tried to build one just like today, nfl would reject it for being out of date. the lieutenant governor all oppose moving it out of san francisco they moved for the site of a new stadium and i tried to reach them but was not able to reach anyone in washington d.c. reporting live kraig debro ktvu channel 2

news. hundreds spent hours in the northeast. one american airlines flight said they were stranded for 7 hours or more. one jet blue pilot pleaded with them for help. >> i have a par quadriplegic that needs to come off, i have a diabetic, i have a list of issues, i just have to get some help. food and water ran out and the bathrooms were clogged and a jet blue spokesperson confirmed six planes headed for the new york area were diverted because of equipment failures and low visibility. nasa is expected to announce hundreds of new jobs coming soon to the space kennedy center in florida. boeing will lease the large hanger that used to be the home of the space shuttle recovery. they will build and launch a

new shuttle and thousands were laid off when the says shuttle program ended and this new venture could bring 500 of those workers back. 6:48 is the time right now, sal checking on the commute, sal? we don't have a lot of traffic troubled spots but you will see trouble at the bay bridge plaza and we keep looking for something to ruin the commute, we have not had anything just yet and traffic on the lower deck looks fine. let's look at the commute on 237, again a lot of people on there, stop-and-go traffic in san jose, della cruz to northbound 101 is closed it is a car off the roadway into the bushes and they have called for the removal of that car, traffic is slow near 1010 but the rest of the -- 101 but the

rest of the flee ways look -- freeways look good. it is slow in bay point and crock as well. southbound looks good from hayward to fremont, let's go to steve. mostly clear this morning, we have some fog on coast and that's about the impact of it. a little around the bridges, inland sunny clear to mild again and today will be the warmest day of the week. they take a plunge friday into the weekend, coastal fog looks sunny and the breeze will turn more northerly, after thursday i don't think it will matter but tomorrow we will have more of a north wind, it looks like some rain but more cold wind than anything else as we moved thursday into friday. the system enhances the fog but high pressure builds behind it. tonight if everything looks good, we may have to deal with

some fog. 30s and 50s, that's right by the water, if you get closer to town, we have high pressure holding on for two or three days, and in the gulf of alaska, we will have some rude awakeningings. lots of 70s and by the coast a cool down away from it sunny mild to warm, 60s and 70s for many, 75 santa clara, 75 along the coast a little too much fog same in the city and also a little puff of a westerly breeze. turning breezy but the north wind coast will jump a little bit, wednesday and thursday

. welcome back to the morning news, time now 6:55 jackie spear wants to experience what it is like to live on food stamps. today she begins a five-day challenge to eaton a budget -- eat on a budget of only $4.50 per day. she wants to experience how a growing number of americans are -- number of americans are living in this tough economy. more than 3.5 million americans are living on food stamps. they are expected to hit the 7 billion mark. more people are being added in a shorter amount of time. just 12 years ago, we passed the 6 billion mark. we are expected to reach 9. 3 billion die the year 2050. two couldn't joined twins
