in oakland kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. they are getting a mixed response from downtown owners, however the port of oakland will remained closed. all city offices will be open for businesses. all oakland schools will be opened even though many teachers are putting in for a day of unpaid leave. and san francisco is now formally weighing in their city. that story is coming up at 4:45.

sentencing rules for crack cocaine possession, the first of 1900 prisoners eligible for immediate release were freed yesterday. a total of 12,000 inmates are to benefit over the next several years. that law was recently changed to bring sentencing rules for crack cocaine more in line than those for powdered cocaine. the order bars 15 members of the a street gang from being in public within a red shaded area between 10:00 at night and 6:00 in the morning. the injunction is needed to curb violence and drug dealing. it carries a possible 6 month sentence. accusing the department of fostering a culture of discrimination. 39-year-old dwayne settled with the city for $300,000. before getting fired he was the
