this could affect the city, good morning, kraig. >> reporter: mostly in the afternoon and around 5:00 when the big rally is held, this morning at frank ogawa plaza, the this wrong, teachers union is supporting the strike and so is the nurse's association, each group is encouraging members to join in a number of different ways. the teacher's union is doing things like taking personal leave to join actions, doing informational stuff for justice. the nurse's association is encouraging its members by joining a noon protest starting here at the plaza at noon and then a rally is scheduled for 5:00 a.m. they are calling for a special tax on wall street to help pay

for healthcare. they have a the tent and police came in and cleared out the camp but the results of the street protests forced a reverse course and despite the controversy, the interim chief said they will be ready. now many criticized police for using tear gas, they have accused police of throwing an object that hit coliseum scott olson. even though city workers have been given permission to take a furlough day or a day off to join the protests, the police officer association are saying they are not allowed and may have to be part of the security

canyon road, strong winds fueled the flames. cal fire said one home has been destroyed along with multiple out buildings. 15 homes are still evacuated and firefighters say downed power lines may have sparked that fire. know well walker -- miss walker is at the scene and she will have more on when that fire is expected to be contained. the wind has not stopped blowing and causing some damage this morning. tara moriarty joins us from berkeley and it's pretty windy, who are you talking to this morning? >> well we spoke to the battalion chief and he said each though that red flag warning is in the conditions are still ripe for the fire to happen. >> reporter: we are here in the oakland berkeley area right on the border of the hills where the winds were at their peek

last night around 40 miles per hour. toppled trees snagged power lines causing outages and 2000 customers in oakland and berkeley were without electricity and 1300 in san leandro. a fee tree fell on to some -- tree fell on to some wires causing the fire and embers to arc. they are looking to deenergize those lines. oakland is responding so similar calls across the city. they are scrambling to clean up trees and just up the street, wind knocked another tree over forcing drivers to maneuver their cars around it. and also in the strike, nordstrom and prod way, luckily nobody was hurt. that has been lifted for the north and east bay hills and

national weather service will not do another weather reading until noon today so firefighters look at the local temperatures and depend on themselves to figure out the local conditions so they know whether or not they need to be prepared. of course stay on top of this and we will check in with steve paulsen who has more conditions in your area, steve? i'm sure they are keeping track on things, 30-to-40 plus miles per hour, but the winds are turning more easterly instead of northeasterly and that's a sign that everything is turning and that's kind of like a clock. temperatures will stay in the 40s and 50s and red flag warning continues until 9:00 as they extended it, they being the national weather service, there are still gusts 45 miles per hour, very low humidity. half-moon bay airport, oakland

hills right where tara is, although it could being stronger than that. black hawk, 28 miles per hour, napa airport says five but i have seen higher peeks in napa county, but a southeast things are starting to turn. 40 to 62 in oakland, 50 in san jose, 60 in fairfield and there are some really cold readings and 4039 in bolder creek -- bolder creek. that system that is coming into the north will be here tomorrow evening and we'll see temperatures drop a good 15 degrees and it does not have a lot of rain but does have a lot of cold air with it. it is slightly cooler than yesterday and when that system drops in, it will be much cooler and this is more of a

injunctions, they have 15 named gang members which is what you are looking at in the red here. they are banned from associating with each other and gathering in public between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. one of the persons named filed a lawsuit claiming the injunction was unconstitutional. that red tail hawk that was shot with a nail gun will be released this morning. the hawk was captured after being spotted with a nail through its head. the wildlife center nursed it back to health and that hawk will be set free at the golden gate park. they are offering a 10,000 dollars reward for information on anybody who attacked that hawk with a nail gun. it can go to the jury on friday, how the month long

time now 6:16, closing arguments in the trial of dr. conrad murray and he waited before saying he will not take the witness stand. the 22 day trial is boiling down to dueling experts of whether he gave michael jackson a deadly dose of the anesthetic propofol. they go into the brain, the organs, the muscles, the bones and the intestines and the stomach. >> my understanding based on the doses and medications that dr. murray administered, they would be in the range of minimal sedation. >> lawyers in the case had the day off and they are getting ready foreclosing arguments. if convicted dr. murray faces up to four years behind bars and losing his medical license. they are investigating a shooting in the bay view

district. it happened late yesterday, a 25-year-old man died after being shot several times. police believe the deadly shooting is gang related and they are still looking for suspects. san francisco police thought they found a missing man but it turns out they were wrong and family members are very upset about the mix up. on monday police got a call saying she spotted cameron rimmer. he repeatedly identified himself as cameron but after speaking with him, it was determined he was the wrong person. he was last seen at the fairmont hotel and if you see him, call san francisco police. the mayor of san jose wants pot clubs to pay for an election. mayor chuck read wants the city to increase attacks from 7 to

windy and warm, red flag warning continues until 9:00, we have a mostly sunny day and boy, big changes are on tap, taking us to the weekend 9:00 a.m. rps really dry. these are the gusts i have seen in the last half hour. half-moon 40 right above the oakland hills, black hawk travis 28, hayward 27 miles per hour. 40s and 50s and 60s on the lows. looking out towards the valley, it is upper 40s for some, out towards santa cruz mountains, 38 in bolder, 35 in scotch valley so some are really cold. we have a lot of cold air coming with our next system and it is a good 20-degree drop

especially on friday. winds in the hills will turn more easterly than southerly later on 60s and 70s on temperatures and after today it will be upper 50s and very low 60s so the extented outlook has a big change, so we make it early friday. well a few minutes ago, master card announced third quarter profits up 38% from the same time last year. the company says a big jump in the number of times people use their master cards is behind the better than expected numbers. there are two better than expected reports on the private workforce this morning. private sector jobs increased by 110,000, slightly more than created in september, a number of planned job cuts, that is a 63 decline and the lowest level

down for the day or face demonstrators. the oakland teacher's association. california nurse's association just to name a few and even the port oakland can be affected. >> there was some reference to the november 2nd action. oakland police moved in and cleared the tents out of the ogawa plaza but the results after protest pressured the mayor and they started reappearing a few days later. there are several events starting at 9:00 a.m. assuring there will be a large demonstration here at the plaza and late in the day there are planned events for 5:00 p.m.

jean quan allowed protesters to come back the next day and the camp is now bigger than ever. so far mayor jean quan has made no public statements about complaints from the police. san francisco are formally weighing in on the occupied movement and they are supporting them to a point. that story coming up. napa working hard a wind driven grass fire that destroyed one home. it started last night at silver read dough trail. how is the damage? >> reporter: it is too dark to see most of the damage and we will show you the greatest damage and take a look behind me, we have them coming off the fires, they have been working

to get this fire contained. we went to get a first and lack, destroyed is more like it. take a look at this video, there is nothing left of that home and i have covered a lot of fires and rarely have i seen a home that looks like this. am chimney is the only thing that -- the chimney is the only thing left, some of the areas immediately around the home are untouched like they saw a package dropped off by ups, untouched and sometimes you have to make a sophia's choice in these circumstances. when the fire is moving aggressively, we have to find a structure that is so far involved oregon that we can't save it or we focus on property

that we can save. >> and there are limited resources. they are relying on people to help them leave their jobs and they leave them to come help fight those fires. the rain essentially ended fire season here and the air tanker contract was up mid-months in october so the closest air tanker would have been in passer row bells. if the fire happened by day, the closest air tanker was closer to santa barbara than it is to san francisco and again we have fire crews coming off the fire lines and presumably they will be replaced by other fire crews because they will be on touring this all day but they hope to have it contained by 9:00 this

morning. firefighters spent the nightwatching for hot spots in black hawk. firefighters moved aggressively pause they were worried about some homes in the area. one firefighter did suffer a minor injury. the cause of the fire is being investigated and the east bay hills are under a red flag alert. steve paulsen is watching the winds, how is it looking up there? >> well i just had a nice tweet from david in novato, it is in the upper 50s or 60s and without that breeze there are very colds numbers.

temperatures stayed very close to yesterday's readings and really it is the winds here in the morning, even though not everyone has a northshore breeze and that goes until 9:00 a.m. this morning, it was extended from 6:00 until 9:00, still gusts for some, higher elevations over 25, half-moon bay airport, saw gusts up to 40, oakland hills, 33 miles per hour. black hawk 28 miles per hour. travises still has dusts at 28, north fairfield at 20. so we are still getting a northerly or eitherly direction. sap hold oakland, 52 degrees. bolder creek 38 and there is some cool numbers so if you

been following, the occupied movement has arrived. protesters who have been camping out have now vowed to shut the city down today. organizers are calling for a citywide strike for students. in napa, they are working to contain a grass fire. it has been burning since 8:30 last night on silver trail at least one home and several out buildings have been destroyed. there is a night of heavy winds, tara moriarty is in oakland hills where firefighters are concerned and we can see it is very windy, tara. >> reporter: that's right, that red flag warning has been extended and conditions are still ripe. we are here in oakland hills and it is incredibly windy.

victims of madoff. they say the bank had aided and a betted madoff's scheme to defraud them but they say they do not have the legal standing to prove that on behalf of madoff customers. yesterday, they voted 8-3 to support the protesters camp at justin herman plaza and they are avoiding using force to break up the around the clock demonstration, however the board would approve police action if there is a threat to public safety or public health. occupied santa rosa protesters will be able to stay camped out in front of city hall even though it is against the law. they had a proposal that would have made them leave instead they agreed to set conditions for their camp and work with

them. they are apologizing for an e-mail mistake affecting hundreds of clipper card employees. a clipper card customer accidentally shared the e-mail address of more than 15,000 people. no credit card or account information was leaked. 6:48 is the time, checking back overwith sal, we have a couple of minor issues that will slow you down. let's look at what we have on the golden gate bridge, traffic is slowed and actually looks good heading south. also the morning commute looks good until you get to the bay bridge toll plaza and we'll see stop-and-go traffic but it looks slower than it normally does. we will check to see just for sure that we don't have

couple of blocks down, winds knocked over another tree forcing people to maneuver cars around it. and another tree fell on to a parked car north of broadway and that red flag warning has been extended until 9:00 this morning. with the humidity so low -- and winds so high, firefighters are on board. they can now request an independent review. the review is for people who's homes were in the foreclosure process and it does not matter if they are finished. it is always available for people in short sales. they will send letters to eligible homeowners and they can go to the website and request one . let's go live,
