complete bay area news coverage, starts right now this is ktvu channel 2news at noon. >> we are learning new information about the gas pipeline under san bruno, the scene of last year's deadly disaster. that is our top story. good afternoon, i am tori campbell. we begin this noontime with a new leak found in the same pg&e pipeline that exploded in san bruno but this time the leak will not pose any danger. ktvu has learned the one millimeter crack was found

during a hydro test of line 132, somewhere along a four mile section of the line near palo alto, because the pipe was filled with water there was no danger to anyone near the pipe lane and service was not interrupted. pg&e plans to inject materials into the pipe so crews can determine its location and make repairs. tom is following the story and will have more at 5:00. pg&e plans to spend an extra 400 million over the next two years to upgrade its natural gas pipeline operations and improve customer service. that is in addition to the 2.2 billion dollars the utility already intends to spend on pipeline repairs and renovations. in the meantime pg&e reported yesterday that its third quarter profit fell 22%, compared with the same time last year. an estimated 165 tents still remain up in front of

oakland city hall and despite a marathon meeting last night the city still has not decided if they will be allowed to stay. as ktvu's cleedz claudine wong reports city officials seem to be drawing a distinction. >> reporter: this morning oakland occupy protesters started yet another day in this tent city. >> i am actually ready for it to go. >> i think it is time for them to move. >> patience for the camp may be running out but emotions are still high. >> could someone please call a police officer, you are all under citizen's arrest. >> there were several outbursts at the city council meeting. >> you know what? if you keep yelling i will ask you to leave. >> at least one protester was escorted out. >> i want us to be respectful of each other and -- >> all right, thank you. >> but no decision has been made about the tent city. the mayor and city council

members have openly supported the movement but concerns seem to weigh heavily. city council woman spent two nights in a tent but last night said this. >> i believe and understand the lack of hope and the pain and frustration that people are feeling. but i have been extremely troubled, troubled by how far do we allow your rights to go and infringe upon other people's rights and they are not considered. >> the mayor says she is concerned about the million it has taken for police and clean up. about the resources stretched too thin and about the chamber of commerce report that at least three companies backed off on plans to locate in oakland taking dozens of jobs with them. >> we have had several conversations with businesses that are saying they will consider not renewing their leases unless something is done and done immediately. >> so for now the tent city remains. the city council, after hours of meeting last night, did not

make any decisions. they just promised to come back to the table to keep talking. in oakland, claudine wong, ktvu channel do news. >> our coverage continues on the occupy protests at ktvu.com, click on the occupy protest link at the top of the home page. the g-20 summit ended today without the world's richest nations committing any more money to fight the debt crisis in europe. president obama was among the leaders arriving for today's final session. they agreed in principal the fund needs more resources but put off until next year any discussions on the details. the imf has been involved in dealing with economic crises in greece and italy. in the u.s. the labor department says unemployment fell last month to 9%, from 9.1% in september. it is the first time the jobless rate has fallen since july. employers added 80,000 jobs last month, fewer than expected

but the labor department revised the numbers upward for august and september. if you have been outside today you know it is chilly in the bay area and this is a big change from the warm temperatures we had just a few days ago. rosemary orosco is in the weather center with details on how cold it may get in your neighborhood overnight but we begin with kraig debro in san francisco to find out how people are reacting to this chill. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. and i am recollecting by wearing my coat. it is chilly here. winter is more than a month away. take a look at some of the people here. you can already tell there is a chill in the air. on the other side of town this morning the wind, the cold forced joggers and walkers and bikers to bundle up and it could be worse tomorrow. the national weather service is holding off on issuing overnight frost warnings but only because a storm front could increase temperatures just enough to prevent a cold

burning blue. if it is yellow that is carbon monoxide so watch out. >> they say another way to keep your bills low is to wear a sweater indoors and don't forget about pets and plants because they get cold too. kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news, now for a full weather forecast let's go over to rosemary. >> good afternoon to you, the storm pretty much out of here and leaving behind it the temperatures we are taking about. 5 to 10 degrees below normal this afternoon. this morning the north bay freezing and subfreezing temperatures. there are your saturday morning forecasted lows. we are looking at 30s below freezing for the north bay again. 47 in san francisco, so just as chilly as this morning. cooler in oakland as well as san jose. we mentioned earlier the national weather service at this hour begin to decide whether or not they want to issue a frost advisory.

with next week. this is video of the gunman brandishing his gun outside the restaurant. police say this happened just moments after he stormed into the ihop, three people were killed there, one person was shot to death in the parking lot. police say he eventually turned the gun on himself. he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. amtrak officials say one of their trains hit a man this morning in san jose, it was headed north at virginia street around 7:45 when the accident happened. the engineer was moving the train into the station and there were no passengers on board. the many was taken to the hospital but there is no word on his condition. cal train was delayed for an hour. this morning the jury began deliberations in the trial of conrad murray. protesters made their feelings

heard on both sides, closing arguments concluded yesterday against michael jackson's person physician. prosecutors say murray caused the pop star's death by giving him the powerful anesthetic propofol to help him sleep. his defense attorneys says the prosecution is trying to blame murray for jackson's on actions. the city of hayward wants help to boost its downtown district. the city has held street fares in the past but want something more permanent to attract shoppers and new businesses, they are updating their downtown plan and tomorrow at 10:00 ama community workshop will be held at city hall. housing activists and a san francisco supervisor came out this morning to support a woman who re-claimed her foreclosed house in the city's bay view district earlier this week. carolyn gauge took back her home on tuesday but said she is not yet live in in it again, representatives from the city urged others to come to them for help. >> this is not a unique

friday. by saturday morning we mentioned earlier the possibility of maybe a frost advisory, this is where we will actually see whether or not this occurs. national weather service determining that on the cloud cover. the cloud cover will offset the possibility of those very cold temperatures coming in. look it is only saturday morning. we are already seeing the high clouds again ahead of the next storm that. could bring us, again, the possibility of temperatures slightly warmer than what we saw this morning. but by the afternoon it looks like 4:00 or so over the north bay and then by dinnertime sliding over the rest of the bay area. by sunday morning we have scattered showers in the forecast. if you are headed to tahoe it is going to be snow and showers and very cold. teens in the overnight hours. 30s for the afternoon. your extended forecast here again zeroing in on the weekend expect a cool day today, most of tomorrow, rain tomorrow afternoon, lingering through sunday morning it looks like then it begins to dry out by sunday afternoon. temperatures very chilly for this time of year. monday, tuesday at this point look dry.

we do see temperatures climb just a little bit although the lows will continue very very chilly. >> all right. and the good news we set the clocks back an hour saturday night so we get an extra hours sleep sunday morning. >> extra hour. >> all right, sounds good. >> you are welcome. >> the crab season is expected to begin and it is expected to be another good one. they can set their nets after midnight. for commercial fishermen it begins on those dates. the crab may not be taken within those bays which are homes to crabs nursery areas. nasa says the earth will have a close encounter with a large asteroid this coming tuesday but it will not crash into earth. they are excited because this is the closest one has come in more than 30 years but if you want to see it you will need a tele scope and most easily visible on the east coast.

stocks sliding ahead of a confidence vote for greece's prime minister. investors are worried the country might not go through with a program needed. the dow currently down 111, nasdaq is down 17. s&p is down 12. groupon is making a big splash today in its first day on the stock market. shares of the popular on-line discount site surged then fell in the company's debut. it started at 20 dollars a share, soared to more than 31, then fell back to 25. right now trading at just over 27 dollars a share, up 33%. today they gave 20 billion, double the amount the company sought. a pile of tax returns left on the street is causing
