holmes. and even ken wayne, from suburbs to the cities, frustrated customers closed their bank accounts today to show solidarity on what they call corporate greed. >> reporter: just across the street are major banks, today targeted during a suburban protest. >> they strung crime scene tape there in concord this afternoon. that is all it allowed protests outside two other banks. >> reporter: wells fargo specifically is closing down on my family, i have my house in foreclosure, sale date of december one. >> it was national move your money day, the protests moving to the suburbs. >> we're tired that banks are bailed out, people are getting sold out. >> others had a protest that was much quieter than those in the big cities. >> we want it to be a grass

roots, respectful of the employees in the banks and take our action by moving our money. >> the organizers say most of the protests were closing their accounts at the big banks. >> joining the credit union, i put the money in there and found out a lot of things i paid for with the banks, i didn't have to do that with the credit company. >> and one had a protest outside the big banks. >> we know that they're going to continue with their situations. we feel that the only way you can really impact them is to tell them you don't want to do business with them anymore. >> i asked for comments, but was turned down, we talked to one spokesperson who defended the bank. >> we're the number one lender, employ over a thousand team members, we contributed over $20 million here in the bay area. >> another difference with protests in the big city, there is no camping out here. as one protester told me, i am too old for that. in concord, ktvu news.

and the vice president of mechanics bank in concord joined demonstrators in that city today. he says that small regional banks can do something big banks cannot. >> we actually care about the relationship and the people, and care about bringing in our local communities, investing back in the communities, giving money back, investing in local businesses, it is important, that is about the relationship, that is what we care about. >> his company has seen a spike in new customers in recent weeks. and the occupy movement in san francisco joining in the protests today, targeting symbols of corporate america on busy market street. alex savage is live with more. >> reporter: the occupy protesters here are pushing the public to close their corporate bank accounts and to spread that message earlier today a large people left the camp here at justin herman plaza, and despite the wet weather they marched through san francisco's

financial district. wearing costumes and carrying banners, well over a thousand people made their way down the middle of market street today, with san francisco police clearing a path. the demonstrators were fed up with the large banks. >> they are foreclosing on my house, i am going to tell them what i think of them. >> everywhere we go. >> reporter: at one point, the crowd stopped, everybody sat down in the middle of market street, surrounded by corporate banks. meanwhile, in oakland today, a group of about 100 immigrant rights advocates marched through a wells fargo branch there, some of them chained together. >> police, police -- >> reporter: and there was some pushing and shoving as security officers and a bank executive blocked the front door. >> we want to education the community, say pull your money out of there. saying they divest from them. >> reporter: back in san francisco, the crowd chris- crossed the city, going all the

way to the civic center, with 82-year-old simon watts doing the best to keep pace. >> i think it is important, the respect of age here, not just young people. >> reporter: and we're getting word tonight the occupy san francisco camp could be expanding soon. one organizer told me this afternoon they are planning on setting up additional tents at civic center plaza in the coming days. live tonight in san francisco, alex savage ktvu. and we're getting word of a water main break in san francisco near the hospital, jay hernandez has more on the details. jade? >> reporter: well, that is right, live in front of san francisco general, along 23rd street, between vermont. when we arrived you could see here the san francisco water department was already working. in fact the water was gushing out -- out of the street,

spilling over from the spokane, the water department says it could be eight to 12 hours before the water main is repaired. they say it is an eight-16-inch transmission main, they're trying to isolate it and shut it off. i was contacted, they were told that it burst around 4:00 this evening, the chief engineer already met with the water department. the hospital may have experienced the water pressure, we're told the pressure should be back up at this hour. i want to make sure everybody understands the hospital is not affected by the break, but the exit to the front park is closed because of water damage to the sidewalk and the amount of flowing water coming from the break. we spoke to one woman who walked out to find getting to her car very difficult. >> i just came out, i saw it like that, that is scary. >> reporter: okay, this -- woman we spoke to was able to drive off without any problems. i do want to bring you back out live along 23rd street, this is 23rd and vermont.

you're looking at two water department trucks, and even the fire department is out here tonight. we're told that none of the homes in the area nor the hospital are affected. just a lot of street damage because of the transmission break. reporting live, san francisco, jade hernandez, ktvu. and police in antioch on the scene of a possible homicide. crime scene tape was there at 17th and d street. police are not releasing much details tonight. but neighbors at the scene say somebody may have walked in on a home burglary in progress, and shot the suspect. we'll have much more on this developing story coming up tonight on the 10:00 news. and in morgan hill, they're investigating a drive by shooting that left a 14-year- old girl dead, two others wounded. four men and a teen were arrested in connection with the shooting, these are the four people, it happened on cosmo avenue, the police have not

released the girl's name but says she was from morgan hill. the suspects were gang members, but none of the victims were linked to gangs. and police investigating a situation at the mission district, at 16th and hoff streets. police say two of the victims are in serious condition. the third victim suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, the police investigated the scene and so far no arrests have been made. we are on storm watch tonight as another round of wet weather is moving into the bay area right now. we want to give you now a live look at the golden gate bridge where you can see from the live pictures, it is a wet commute. for people heading into marin, this is the second day of rain, also in emoryville, the people there were trying to stay dry with umbrellas, the light rain

was scattered all over the bay area. we want to learn how long the wet weather will be here. >> well, ken, the storm pushing forward, the rain numbers picking up in the last two hours, in fact, the radar showing the loop over the past three hours. you can see earlier this afternoon, light to moderate rainshowers pushing through the region. here is the latest, we'll put the latest on that and zoom in on the yellow section. that is at least a moderate to heavy rainfall there, out towards vallejo, richmond and oakland. even san francisco picking up moderate amounts through the region. all the activity is spreading through the south, and the rainfall to the south at least over the next one to the two hours. the bulk of the rainfall between now and 9:00 this evening. the wider perspective in the south bay, not a lot to show you, mostly cloudy skies. the heavier rainfall to the north, north of son joe, at

burlingame and midville. and heavier downpours in the short term. coming up we'll have more on the forecast and the break down of the system into tomorrow and tonight. and the one part of the system that could be dry. thank you, you may have felt the quake, the 3.2 magnitude quake hit this afternoon, north of piedmont, three miles south of berkeley. it is the latest in a series of quakes centered in the east bay in just the past weeks. today, a quake struck hours just after the tour along the hayward fault, coming up, the possibility of a major quake, heading into the bay area in the near future. and andy rooney, the fixture who delivered the moments on every day live has died. >> part of my success is how average i am. i am a very normal guy.

. officials in britain are trying to determine what led to a massive 23-vehicle pile-up that killed at least several people, injuring more than 50. last night in southwest england. the cause of the crash is not clear, but the roads were wet, and there was patchy fog in the area where the crash happened. fire officials on scene say this accident is the worst one they can remember. and a pedestrian was seriously injured today in petaluma after she was struck by a semi tractor-trailer, the accident happening just after 6:00 at the corner of north mcdowell boulevard. heather contos of petaluma was taken to the hospital with severe injuries, the driver of

the truck was not arrested. and others taking an educational walk along the fault, jim line camper led the group on a visual tour. evidence of the shifting ground could be seen in the crack asphalt and in buildings. one person who took the tour says it will make him more aware of what is happening to the earth. >> after this i will look at the cracks, trying to observe, see what is happening. >> today's tour comes after several quakes hit the east bay, including one in afternoon. scientists say there is a 30% chance of a major quake along the hayward fault in the next 30 years. and family and friends of a person shot marking the anniversary of the officer sentencing, dozens of supporters of oscar grant gathered in front of frank ogawa. they say the suspect didn't receive a strong enough

sentence in 2009. mesherle was convicted of manslaughter, released from jail after serving more than 11 months. and miss missing two of the g.o.p.'s presidential contenders, herman cain and gingrich missed it. the othersinging were there, trying to convince republican voters that they are the better alternative to the two frontrunners. iowa is home to the nation's first caucuses, taking place january 3. you president obama in washington, arriving at the white house, he spent the last three days in france with other world leaders for the economic summit. at the event, mr. obama pushed for more efforts to help to solve europe's debt crisis. and trying to push ahead with a plan for a bailout. the prime minister wants to

form a three-month coalition government. today he paid a visit to the greek president for permission to do this. he says it is necessary for measures that will help to get the bailout. but occupancy parties say they will not participate. they want the prime minister to step down and are calling for immediate election. and tempers flaring, in connecticut they're dealing with no power, no heat and freezing temperatures. last week a surprise storm knocked out power to three million all over the southeast. but in connecticut, almost a thousand are without power in the dark. many are frustrated, connecticut light and power hopes to restore everybody's power by tomorrow night. and it is wet, chilly around here. and in fact, mark, you're saying we may have snow on mt. hamilton? >> yes, we're tracking the cooler weather system, could see a dusting up over 4000

feet. right now you can see this amount of rain, with the live doppler sweep, showing the curve pattern out there with the yellows, indicating heavier downpours, concentrated in the central parts of the bay. -- the yellow showing up, the red showing up, towards 37. but if we back this out once again, the south bay not lot to show you, all of this activity will be heading in your direction, coming up towards the central portion of the bay, the yellow over oakland, emoryville, and with the camera there you can see the wet roads, be extra careful in the bay area of the freeways, the downpours pushing through the region. this is a window, the main event with the storm system pushing through the region. the rain, tonight, morning showers, on the cool side. the extended forecast, a mix of sun, clouds, temperatures warming up a few degrees. overnight lows, a few scattered showers tomorrow morning, and temperatures on the cool side,

. former heavy weight boxing champion joe frazier has liver cancer. the announcement was made today. the 67-year-old boxer was diagnosed a month ago, now under hospice care. frazier was the first man to beat ali in 1971, call today fight of the century. a great rivalry in all of sports. and stanford may not have been their best performance, but still got the victory. >> got the job done, they reminded us they're human after
