against his former assistant, jerry sandusky, charged with sexual abusing eight boys from an at-risk youth foundation he started. paterno was informed of one instance of abuse nine years ago and told his supervisors but many feel he should have done more to stop sandusky. the occupy oakland camp is growing and so is the controversy surrounding it. many businesses say they are suffering. a new call to remove the camp comes next hour. we have a closer look at video showing protest assaults on officers. >> there is a press conference scheduled for within the hour with city and religious leaders, all calling for the mayor to shut down this camp. >> she's trying to find every possible excuse not to do her job and make a decision. it's something that i don't think the city council or the

citizens can continue just waiting. >> for now it appears the ball is in the mayor's court. this morning the fire department made another daily inspection. they say they do it knowing that tent city will fail as it does every day because there's no realistic way to get this encampment to meet the fire code. one protesters told us 30 more tents were squeezed in overnight. a track could be could come next week. if it does, police are hoping it won't be as violent as the last one and hoping the video they get released shows things through their eyes. we'll take you through the video. we have an overhead shot of the crowd, police officers making their way down the street. it appears they are trying to make and arrest. they stop and the crowd fills in behind them. one officer is standing on the perimeter as red paint hits him in the neck and another camera shows paint hitting a vehicle. at least two of the officers in

scene. quite a few people there. this is protesting cuts to all levels of education. they are calling on the director to sign a pledge to make wall street pay for cuts to education. they also plan to establish and encampment at cal later today. it's been a tough day on wall street, markets have been down all day dough the uncertainty over who will lead italy through the debt crisis once berlusconi resigns. a short time ago, officials said they have no plans for a rescue plan for italy and that really spooked the market. the dow was down over 400 points at within point, now down 371. the nasdaq is down 97. president obama used a pen

today to trim government waste. >> it directs agencies to slash spending in each of these area, travel, printing. >> he signed an executive order to cut spending by 20% in these areas. agencies are being ordered to limit the number of departmental vehicles and post information online rather than printing them out. he's exercising the executive power on modest proposals to cut spending. when we come back, why it was a god day for the formerly conjoined twins recently separated at stanford. and we'll have details on when you could see showers in your neighborhood.

our news chopper took these pictures above the scene. it crashed into an embankment and went down and got pinned for 15 minutes before crews were able the pull them out. two sections of pipeline on the peninsula is being repaired today. they are getting better access to the natural gas pipeline. a small hole was discovered during high pressure water tests last week. >> once this band is welded around the pipe, we'll reconduct the test later today and be sure this is safe for operation. >> they have conducted 60 tests over 120 miles of pipeline this year.

abdomen is if you were watching television or listening to the radio a little over an hour ago, no doubt you noticed the first ever national test for the emergency alert system. all tv and radio programs were interrupted for about 30 seconds at 11:00 a.m. with the announcement. fema and the sbc coordinated the tests. it could be used in cases of a

national security threat or national disaster. a hear asking scheduled today for the suspects in a drive-by shooting where a 14- year-old girl was kill instead mar began hill. these four men and a 17-year- old boy are said to be gang members but the videotapes are not. she died at the scene of friday night's shooting. three other teens were also shot and are recovering. police and city officials will answer questions about the shooting at a community meeting tonight. it begins at 7:00 at the morgan hill community and cultural center. a 67-year-old man who's been in hiding for 40 years is preparing to turn himself in to san francisco police. an attorney for ronald bridgeforth says his client intends to turn hymn in today and plead guilty for assault with a deadly weapon.

the dow is currently down 356, nasdaq down 54. there was a fire last night at star wars director george lucas' skywalker ranch but it only caused minor damage. it started around 5:30 in the chimney of the main house. a fire crew responded first but no injuries were reported. san francisco's spca says someone stole a puppy today, hours before the animal was to be adopted. a spokeswoman said the 8-week- old was taken around 4:45 yesterday afternoon by a latino couple with a 4 to 6-year-old child. there is a $500 reward for the puppy's safe return. coming up today, we are just hours away from san francisco election officials announcing the first round of
