go back to the desk. officers moved in on the occupied encampment and the situation is changing by the minute. he is at 16th right at the edge, kraig debro, what is going on? >> reporter: about an hour ago police moved in and they gave them multiple orders to disburse and two hours ago they began cutting down the encampment. what i saw was sheriff's deputies cutting down the larger tarps and i didn't see anybody inside the tents or taps and they didn't or rev anybody. it is hard to tell if people are moving into the street but

from what we understand they have been begin an understanding where john watson told me people are allowed to leave the street or the encampment but once they didn't leave people would be arrested and sheriff's deputies started to be cutting down the encampments. reporting live in oakland ktvu channel 2 news kraig debro. frank ogawa plaza is being cut down, they are cutting down tarps and removing tents and we have hundred structures and we are getting word the first arrest has been made at the

scene of occupied oakland and we don't know what the details are all about. that is latest, that one arrest has been made and they are taking down tempts. they are moving to another park, a snow park and they have the latest on that. >> here you can see there is a few tempts and we speak 15 to 20 minutes ago to be part of protest and she is anticipating a clash with police. >> we served you three day notices, we offered you shelter and now when police come in and

use brutal force with flash bang grenades we can say we are justified because you have had fair warning. >> now this is news they left on october 25th so this may very well be where some of those protesters move out of frank ogawa plaza. earlier we saw the massive police force gathering today and they took off at 4:30, there were five buses dozens if not hundreds of police cars, agencies from all over the bay area, and there were in fact people monitoring tore texting

neighbors of former penn state jerry sandusky. he is accused of abusing children and a judge ordered him to stay away from children but he lives right near an elementary school. they are taking extra steps to ensure that school children are safe. neighbors question his release. >> i think the presums of incidents -- presumption of innocence, there is a level of protection the community is entitled to. private property signs have gone up on his lawn after somebody through a sin car block. she was reportedly a volunteer where sandusky met his victims.

fear and a lot of the protesters are moving their blondings and setting up another area in snow park. at one point there was 160 tents in frank owing, they were asked to clear out and a number of tents have been taken out, but still more than 100 tents still at ogawa plaza covering the lawn area of oakland city hall. the police are tearing down the area, but people have had a lot of notice for what police said they were going to do. >> allie rasmus is telling us there have been at least 20

arrests is what she is reporting right now. she is at 14th and broadway where protesters are surroundinged by riot gear. >> at this point we have not seen any violence and we have seen some incidents in the past where police got involved with skirmishes with protesters throwing items at police and police put that with organization and bottles and police responding with the oc pellet which are high pressure air guns which shoot pepper spray plastic projectiles which i am told are very painful and sometimes can break the skin in fact that looks like tear gas

gun that, that officer is firing and there is nothing from protesters, news chainer 2, we have not had any reports of violent acts and it could be just because they are not where they are supposed to be and police have tried to clear out the area and what they have done is to give people fair notice and warning it is time to leave the area and you will have people who will beginner and not leave the air when they are told police with riot gather are watching what is going on and if it stays like

this and eventually the camp will be downtown and we'll see if business gets back to normal. there are people who have things to do that. there have we are working trap are others who have you everred because they have lost business and in some cases they are afraid to go earing the hair's reputation because some of this has generated news coverage from all over the world and we have had reports internationally and we have heard from protesters who said they will be back and we'll see, this is just another turning point in the occupied

closed. >> if you look to the left that, building is are tullely's coffee is and you can not get off or on in the middle of this and they have been moving through without stopping. if you are trying to get to downtown oakland you have to go to 19th and 12th street is closed, that is the busiest steaks by the way. and obviously they can't get through so if you commute to downtown oakland this will affect you but just down the street, it will affect you. we do not recommend taking 101 passed 280 because there is a

moved they are shutting down the occupied end amp -- encampment, that is where they have been holding their general assemblies where they take votes to see what actions they will take. they have been heavily involved in protests and marches where they gathered there at those steps. you can see officers taking away taps and set ups and has become a lot of different activities and you mentioned there are two people who got word of police activity gathering at the coliseum and they tweeted out and we understand the protesters called in on some help and there are even more protesters gathered this morning.

effected and police are tearing document the tents, we have been there and throughout the morning what does it looks like now? >> reporter: we are on the corner of northwest 14th and broadway and protesters and police continue behind the medal barricades. there is about 100 or so protesters and they are shouting about the police presence out here but we have not seen anybody face off. across them, they are san francisco police who are holding the line and standing their ground. there are some officers and we have not scene of any of that

deemployed. now off in the distance you can see frank ogawa plaza and about 15 minutes ago we saw oakland police go through and start to take down some of those tents. we saw them them breaking up the tables and 15 minutes before that, we watched them being led a way to frank ogawa plaza and we want to turn the camera around to our left. you can see the crowd is they are remember, they have now turned and started going a away. they are cheering in

celebration of the officers and they have been holding up a line here and we don't know where they are going but they are washing down broadway and 12th street but so far, as you st. petersburg mixed we did see confrontations with police and protesters. 20 people were led away with their hands behind their back overall, things appear to be pretty calm. we will they can back with us. >> any idea why those people were arrested? >> reporter: they want dough why they were arrested but they were being led away, presumably one could assume they were in

the encampmentment for under one to leave, for most of the mornings, most of the occupied supporters were out and i don't know why but they were escorted out from there. >> reporter: interesting you pointed out in the 20 years or so i have been covering news in the bay area, i can't remember san francisco police being involved in something like this so that is very interesting. thank you allie, there is a possibility some of those occupied protesters could be moving to another area, oakland

snow park, what is happening there. >> reporter: we saw people walking by with an occupy everything sign and we are also monitoring the activity on 19th street and frank ogawa plaza is a half mile down there and if we see protesters mover into snow park, that is a direction they will move from. there are just a few tempts here, one woman who left to be part of that pigger problem and she said she is anticipating a clash and this is where a lot of protesters head, and that's one of the reasons we are closely mop touring what is going on and where we moved

from being it took off and there were at least five buses if not hundreds of police cars. we were talking a moment ago about how san francisco police are here. we also saw alameda sheriff's he have's office and lending a hand, also activity and they had people monitoring them and tweeting them about police activity and we will continue to monitor the situation here about knee park and with we see this, we will bring you more information as it becomes available. occupied protesters did get a heads up from a pair of a individual tweeters in particular they are from

oakland and they say they heard police were staging at the coliseum so they went through to check it out themselves. and the two were gathering they had occupied oakland overnight. >> reporter: we are trying to -- >> we are trying to let them know it is not a rumor, there is hundred its of police here. >> they say they do not agree. this is a search for two people. the first officer was trying to keep demonstrators out of the street when a woman slashed his hand. the second protester had and that's when another officer cut

on the top last, that is 14th and prod way and as you can see along line of protesters and police pulled fact and they have 20 lines and that's a mail hub for the transit and there you can see the frank and they are still doing some work down there and you should map on delays if you are trying to get to downtown oakland. they have some sort of a plan. also the morning commute looks backed up, up to 12 minute wait. if you are trying to get to the airport, southbound 101 now

blocking several lanes and you will see and use 380 to join 101, a lot of people are doing that. speaking of fs o, they have had gusts up to 33 miles per hour. and there is a lot of low clouds around and fog and you can see it is coming down out of the northwest so it will be dry and we don't have to worry about anything, oakland is calm, napa airport, a lot of calm out there, quarter visibilitiability 48 degrees and lots of fog, delta breeze but nothing and stamford is down to 1, red wood city 4 of

. we want to update where police are taking down the tents at the occupied oakland camp. several people have been taken into custody and kraig debro joins us now. are you near the tent encampment? >> reporter: i am, and that's only because they have the standards with that stent still down, but everything is flattened and there was one occasion where somebody was actually in attend and police obviously moved in and arrested

everybody. there was another occasion where three people who were kneeling or sitting in the middle of the scare in the middle of frank ogawa plaza and police went up to them and let them know if you don't move you will be arrested. we have not seen anybody throw any objects in fact we thought maybe we might need them but we have not needed them at all. i spoke with a spokesperson and she told me there have been several arrests but what they plan to do is they plan to move in from the south side, it was

a lock town and police began to move in and they went through every single one of these tempts making sure nobody was in them and ripping them down making sure nobody was here. one person was in attend and three people who were in the middle of the tempt was arrested. the sky above is just littered with police helicopters and i am looking at it right now. it is a above the tree which we cannot see and other stations are here as well. if you look down the line here, we have alive shot and those are protecting east side of prod way and mornings on 2 as well. reporting live kraig debro ktvu channel 2 news.

>> as we saw there was no resistance from the people in frank ogawa plaza, they were sitting on the ground expecting to be arrested and they were, we want to go to allie rasmus who was at 1st and broadway to tell us what is happening there, is the intersection still closed? >> we are actually standing on the middle side of these barricades and below us, it is a row of police officers who have been called in to help with assisten -- assisting in all this. also on the other side of the medal barricade, there are 100el hundred police officers shouting and saying things and we have not seen anybody throw anything seen any violent confrontations between protesters or police. police on the other hand, they have been saying things to

them, they have been held in a line. this is the middle of 14th street and several dozen oakland police officers but mostly oakland police officers in the middle of the street but frank ogawa plaza, now that the sun is up, the tents have been taken down and flattened. they entered the steps of frank ogawa plaza where they walked in and flattened the tents. i couped 2 people led away by police. those people were not resisting arrest and they were very calmly walking, there are police officers walking with tear gas cancers and so far police have not used the tier

gas at all, -- tear gas at all. we have not seen police responding in any way and people are shouting and they are angry but we have not seen it at 14th and broadway. kraig debro back to you. >> they have been through a number of demonstrations including at justin herman plaza, we will have to wait to see what happens with that situation h they have been escorting marches for years, especially with the bart protest, there is a bit of an advantage because they have had to deal with these situations for a long time. >> and once again you can see

the huge police presence, various agencies gathered overnight at the coliseum and they are all there but again as alley is reporting they were rifftively taken away and most likely they were arrested and that's not the number so far. the tents have been taken away and news chopper 2 is affecting traffic and people who need to get in and around oakland, sal has the latest on that. >> these pictures, i want to show you the 1st and broadway area, it is closed to the people who want to go to work, people who want to go downtown, they need to take the 1 th street station where this is all going on, trains are moving

through without stopping. ac transit is a affected by this situation. westbound bay bridge, quite a large delay, 20 to 25 minutes, the police activity is not a nexting the freeways in oakland. it is busy in oakland street. southbound 101 is it -- is it -- they are taking their time in clearing it and they are trying to get it don't as quickly as possible. northbound 101 let's keep this in check, there are only a couple of lower 30s and 40s and

it is way down, low clouds are keeping temperatures in the upper 40ss and we will have sunshine, west at 50, fs o has been up to 30 miles per hour, there is not much of a breeze down to the santa cruz mountains and it's about 25 miles per hour. the park los gatos is in there, more 40s due to this cloud cover. red wood city high pressure will affect everything and then a cold system will drop in and it will carve itself out for the weekend which looks like rain. fog sun breezy and it will be out of the northwest,

temperatures will be cooler and we have a northwesterly breeze. 65 and 60s on the coast . be dry, although this is and then a really cold system drops in with the weekend always in view we plan on a very cold wind did i weekend. we just want to recap for you what has happened overnight and early this morning. downtown oakland, a lot of protesters on the left-hand side of your screen, news chopper two, police are moving through tearing down tents at the occupied encampment, protesters are given several notices to voluntarily leave but several did not, we

understand 23 arrests have been made although we understand from allie rasmus who was there, they have been peaceful arrests and so facing off with law end isment, we understand as they moved away from the area. 14th and broadway obviously blocked and the 12th street a bart station is closed and could be delayed as well. we will go to sal for the very latest on traffic. here is a quick look at the other stories we are following. san francisco muny bus driver is on leave after killing a pedestrian. it happened yesterday afternoon at 5th and mission streets and the pedestrian later died at a hospital. president barack obama talked

frank ogawa plaza on the -- frank ogawa plaza on the left and it is not allowing any cars through, it is a hub there and remember the hub will be rerouted to nearby streets and the commute will be pushed to nearby hibs. we still have a crash, avoid 101 use 280 and access 101 using 380. and again at the bridge toll plaza, we have a backup 15 to 20 minutes long, no problems getting onto the bay bridge itself. lows are in the 40s. ones we get this to before on highs willen in the mid-60s.
