some of that reducing visibility with fog, but 70 degrees in santa rosa, here is sal. traffic on interstate 880 is moving nicely in both directions and traffic will be moving nicely up to the toll plaza of the bay bridge and westbound 80, same thing goes, traffic is moving well but there is a little bit of cutting on the east shore freeway, 6:01 let's go back to the desk. students at uc berkeley are being asked to go on strike and that's part of the movement on the campus and allie rasmus tells us it could end with the reestablishment of an occupied camp, here is more. >> reporter: students are already preparing for today's events and one student was doing her homework while

passing the time to get started this among. they set up a chalkboard for workshops that will happen this morning. uc students and supporters from occupied oakland and san francisco are all planning to converge here. later they will mash to downtown berkeley and join up with other students and some of the people taking part want uc board members to sign a pledge urging financial institutions to contribute more to avoid future cuts to the system. we will talk to them and they will decide by vote whether to reestablish an occupied cal encampment. >> the whole point is that should not generate police crackdown and i mean i could go into it, it is establishing a sense of home, a site in which

people can collectively meet and think and work through the overwhelming issues at the very least this public education system faces. >> now last wednesday police clashed with students, students linked arms and tried to stop police from breaking up the camp. 31 students were arrested for resisting arrest. they sent out a campus wide e- mail that he was out of the country when this happened and after he saw police demonstrations he found the video disturbing. he is looking at a review of the police response to the demonstrations and he wants a statement on students arrested but there were some teach outs and workshops are planned as part of a day of action here. allie rasmus ktvu channel 2

news. >> well students are also suing over last week's occupied cal demonstrations. police used excessive force during a peaceful protest and that the university did nothing to stop it. they plan to sue oakland police and alameda county sheriffs. well the occupied protesters are now getting ready to start the student strike in berkeley. live in oakland, they tell us only a couple of them spent the night in ogawa plaza. as you mentioned, people will be gathering later today and the plan is to join that general strike but if you look, a big difference from yesterday and even at this hour there is still a lot of darkness, you can see there is nothing on the plaza but another park, it is called snow park and located

near harrison and grand avenue. if you look at this live picture, one officer over here tells me they are more politically motivated and active than some of the people he saw at frank ogawa which he thought were mostly homeless people. i spoke with some of the people who stayed here and they tell me why they returned. >> to occupy and get it again and again and again. it is our end bag. >> police are standing by but they are not making any moves to cite the hold outs and unless somebody pitches attend, it is particularly not sleeping in the park which is what the ordinance prohibits. they were backed up and broke camp at ogawa plaza.

here in ogawa plaza. where mayor jean quan, she said she needed to take immediate action before more people were hurt and the police raid did lead to a shakeup, two top aides to the mayor have resigned. she resigned last night and yesterday morning legal advisor dan siegel quit. meanwhile, during the night in new york, police raided the occupied wall street camp. [crowd noise] >> occupied wall street members shouted at police officers this morning after they raided and then cleared out the park. however protesters are now being told they can go back to the park. they just announced they obtain

a court order from enforcing rules. he will did to court immediately over this matter. now if the cal strike we have throughout the morning and we have the latest stories on our website www.ktvu.com. in other night news -- in overnight news they are looking for the cause of the fire at a mobile home park. it started on mitchell way. now the flames spread from the mobile home to an adjacent building. firefighters managed to get everybody out safely. one man rushed out carrying his dog. the flames caused major damage to two buildings. leon panetta would warn lawmakers that deeper cuts would have devastating results. coming up, we will have a live

as a lot of people are heading out. westbound 580 coming into livermore we have some slowing at the livermore city limits and traffic is smooth at the caster valley city. we have a colder pattern here than yesterday, not much in the way of fog and some of it is redicing visibility. although the napa airport, temperatures went up and also livermore. sunny and warm, yes, although you better bet out and enjoy because it toes not last very lodge. put a colder, that is the main message, colder windy, there will be some rain, it does not look like a big rain event.

. good morning, traffic is moving along well, but it is getting crowded on interstate 880 coming out of the el cerrito area. a police officer's dash-cam a captured an unusual rescue, the officer stopped, the deer was frozen for about an hour. the deer was in a state of shock after the accident and as you can see, the deer eventually relaxed and went off into the woods. they are calling for a ban

on some rat and mouse poisons. the way to encourage businesses not to use poisons that pose a danger to wildlife and children, they encouraged them not to sell them but as you can see some remain on store shelves. a man said he was shocked to find out drugs were packed into a mini-van that he bought from a rental car company. they found 19 bricks hidden behind the panel of that chrysler car. it took him months ago to get the breaks checked out but they called police who valued the drugs for more than $1,000. >> they told me how lucky i was that i had never been stopped because i would have just been put into jail for you know a long time. >> so he said he bought the van from a karen tall company about a year and a -- a car rental company about a year ago and he

education is funned it various labor unions and supporters of occupied san francisco are planning on converging on the steps of sprawl plaza. they are planning to march downtown berkeley and will merge with berkley students. there is frustration over cuts to education and they will tell us what the proposed tuition hikes would mean to him. >> it is like the rug being pulled out from under me and i know a lot of students feel the same. we literally have no control over it and it is decided by somebody whom we don't have any control over so it is hard to be helpless in that situation. >> reporter: police clashed with students of occupied cal

now on no camping will be allowed and there is not a singel tent in site. we will find out what the protesters plan to do today. we brought live coverage this time yesterday morning and arrested protesters who refused to leave. mayor jean quan said the shooting made it clear that the encampment was getting out of hand. she felt she needed to take more action before more people got hurt. now the raids and clean up has cost them nearly 2. $5 million and that includes nearly 1 million-dollar for police staffing. mutual aid cost the city a half million dollars and the city is paying $16,000 a day to remove tons of debris from the frank

her grades were a little better than she remembered. they found grade tampering in 2004 and the breach happened between june or july of 2010. only a handful shows signs of tampering and they are in a variety of majors and they are working hard to correct those grades. >> some have moved from a "d" or an "f" up to a very respectable grade of an "a" or b. >> some of them were grade improvements and they don't know how they were altered or all connected but it seems clear some of the students were unaware of what was going on. as we told you the fbi is investigating trying to get to the bottom of this and we will look for students to find out what they have to say about all
