right now, protesters linked to the occupy movement are converging on uc berkeley. hundreds more will be coming. we'll be there live. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. we'll have more on the occupy story in a moment. developing news. a rollover crash has caused a traffic mess in the east bay. a truck driver carrying a load

of trees lost control and overturned on westbound highway 24. no one was hurt but the crash blocked three lanes of the highway just west of the caldecott tunnel. traffic is backed up to the stevens drive exit. at uc berkeley, the occupy movement has taken a new turn. allie rasmus is live on campus where a general strike is expected to pea ginn shortly and students -- begin shortly and students are trying a new approach. allie? >> reporter: well, the strike has been going on -- on morning. you can hear some of the chanting and clapping going on. also in the crowd, there's also supporters of occupy oakland, occupy san francisco, as well as supporters from various local labor unions. this is all part of a day of action in the general strike called by student.

this morning, tunes hung up banners -- banners and signs and rolled up rugs. >> kind of help facilitate a learning -- learning victim that's very friendly and homie and is not threatening. >> we also feel the need to show we're not just an angry mob. >> reporter: but students say they have plenty to be angry about. they are worried about lien debts, threats to the -- loan debts, threes to the education center -- threats to the education center. >> here we are the people, we need to demand it. >> reporter: other students say they are here to protest what happened last week when police clashed with students in this plaza after tunes tried to establish and occupy cal. >> i was here last week when we set up the tents and i was so

surprised by the response of the police and the university. >> reporter: now, for the -- now the plan is to come back tonight. live in the uc berkeley -- live on the uc berkeley campus, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. uc berkeley's chancellor is granting some students who were arrested amnesty. students formed a human chain to try to keep them together. officers used batons to keep the crowd out. the chancellor sent out a university-wide e-mail saying he thought the -- he thought the police response to last week's demonstration was very disturbing and is calling for an investigation of that

action. in oakland, police are keeping an eye on frank ogawa plaza. they say all remain quiet underneath. the protesters are welcome to come back as long as they don't set up camp. the cleanup continues. supporters are expected to gather there later today and then march to uc berkeley to join the demonstrations there. some protesters have taken up camp p at snow park -- at snow camp at lake merritt. there are about a dozen tents spread out across the grass. the encal piments will be -- encampment will be dealt with but no action. the cost to the city, the

city says it's paying $16,000 a day to remove tons of debris from frank ogawa plaza and the surrounding area. $30,000 will be spent to replace grass at the area. oakland mayor jean quan is thanking all of those involved in yesterday's removal of the camp at frank ogawa plaza. in a statement today quan thanks the community, the demonstrators who left peacefully and marched peacefully and the police force for their well-organized effort. quan also thanks the public work together for restair -- for restoring the city so quickly. protesters say it's so crowded in the plaza right here, that they started to create a line of tents on the street. the city cited the

care. >> we contacted anthem bluecross and officials would not comment but any issued a statement that read in part -- the fbi is trying to find out who hacked into the computer system at santa clara university and changed grades. christien kafton has more. >> reporter: yeah, to get a temperature of the student body, we m to go around santa clara university and we spoke with various students about how they learned about that breach in stewart. some of them said they learned about it by e-mail, some by facebook, the students saidune normally they were surprised about this, that someone would hack into the computer system to boost their grades. santa clara university is scouring through 50,000 ack --

50,000 academic words. >> it certainly is ongoing and the fbi is leading that investigation. >> reporter: investigators say sometime between june 2010 and july of this year, someone hacked into the computers and began to alter those grades. sometimes the grade changeses were minor, a b to a b-plus. others were more drastic, changing an f to an a. >> it's a private school. it's an institution. i was pretty surprised that they are able to do that. is would expect the security to be -- be a little beefed up what. >> reporter: students tell us the fact the -- students tell us the fact that they launched an investigation immediately that the academic achievement will be graded on a level playing field. >> i think the university will try to figure it out and try to make the grades legitimate again. we'll see what happens, i

guess. >> reporter: the school discovered the error because a student took a look at her transcript. in addition to criminal charges, the hacker faces academic consequences as well. that could include expulsion if that student turns out to be enrolled here. back to you. >> thank you. u.s. park police are leading the investigation into a grim discovery in san francisco. last night officers discovered a body from the bay or they recovered a body from the bay at hyde street pier. it's not clear if the results was -- if the result of death was an accident, suicide or homicide. investigators expect to have more information today. investigators in contra costa county are looking for the cause of a fire at a mobile home park. it started around 8:30 last night. the flames spread to a nearby building.

the original occupy camp where the whole movement started has been cleared out. and now occupy wall street protesters are on the move after a surprise raid last night. demonstrators walked even though they were evicted. the city said they would be allowed back after the park was clean but without their tests. the judge hopes to issue a ruling on this matter by later this afternoon. mayor michael bloomberg said city is ready to fight. >> first amendment protects speech. itnot protect the use of tents

witnessed him engaging in sexual contact with boys 0 two different owecations. sandusky replied, you would have too ask them. there are new new bpa concerns about canned foods. they just tested popular products that may be used for a typical thanksgiving meal. some of those products, including campbell's mushroom soup, ocean spray cranberry sauce and karn nation milk -- carnation milk. high levels of bpa have been linked to cancer, infertility and other meth problems -- health problems. the city of san francisco is encouraging legislation that would encourage shoppers to bring their own bags.

early. doctors say the twins are doing well after the nine-hour surgery that separated them. they are receiving therapy about how to learn to walk forward, not sideways but they seem to be adjusting easily to their new separate life. >> we cannot wait to see them playing, walking and running and -- and thank you very muff! god bless to all! >> the twins were born conjoined at the chest and stomach. they shared a liver. separating the liver was the most delicate part of the operation. the doctors say each girl's liver is functioning on its own now and they are expected to leave the hospital today or norm. just about an hour ago, ice skating began. the grand opening began today.

the dow is up 72. the nasdaq is up 36. s&p is up 10. today, the city of santa clara is expected to move another step closer toward becoming the new home of the 4ers. the city council is expected to approve a major tax plan tied to the billion-dollar stadium project. $10million would go toward building sidewalks, water pipes and lines. if all goes as planned, construction would begin in 20130 and theers would then -- 2013 and theers would play their dash 9ers two tray -- theers would play their first game two years later. corporal santos invited justin timberlake to a ball back in 2005. he promised to be her date. he posted a photograph.
