progress of the fire. want to caution everybody, this does not mean it's under control. >> earlier the nevada governor declared a state of emergency. snow fall is now helping that firefighting effort and residents have been told they should be able to return home at noon tomorrow. this point the cause still under investigation but the reno mayor said it could be because of downed power lines. >> i have been hearing a lot say how can you have a fire in reno with a winter advisory in the sierra, for the answer let's go to bill martin. >> right ahead of this front a little high pressure ridge and we got down sloping winds in the reno area. let's look at the graphic and what you will see. the wins coming off the area and those are down developing. the air gets funneled warms up and drying up. that's what happened late in the reno area. wind gusts overnight were in the mid70a mile an hour range. at 10:00 a.m. it's 60 miles an hour.

suspected parolee in custody. it happened in grand avenue and mcarthur. that's where a driver failed to stop. he kept driving causing two crashes, before getting out of the car with a gun. he then forced a family out of their car and drove away in it. >> look at the car. protected by all kinds air bags. he seemed to be in great shape to run and get people out of their cars. >> police finally caught him. they say he was a suspected parolee at large. at least three people including the suspect were taken to the hospital, all have minor injuries. >> just a couple hours ago firefighters rescued two workers who fell into an underground tank at a chemical treatment plant. it's believed one of the men fell down the tank's 40-foot shaft after being overcome by fumes and the second fell in trying to help him.
