>> rain was still falling out there. how long will it last? let's check in with rosemary. >> the steady heavy rain we saw move through late last night has passed but we are not out of the woods yet. take a look off the coastline we have heavy rain there, even embedded thunderstorms. that will be the call for today. a little sun, a little clouds, showers in between and the threat for thunderstorms. we will take a look at how much rain has fallen and we will take a look at your forecast for sunday coming up. san francisco police department made good on its word to occupy protestors. we have more on how it went down. >> reporter: all along this section of market street where we are standing, there are metal barricades to prevent people from coming and setting up new occupy san francisco

settlements. behind us is the federal reserve building. you can see the tents are now gone after this overnight raid replaced by a dozen or so police officers standing guard making sure no one sets up new tents. the larger san francisco encampment you can see those tents are still up and it is intact this morning. now, this was the scene when the raid on the smaller occupy encampment in front of the federal resenior of building started at 1:00 this morning. it took about 35 minutes and police took down 12 tents that were on the sidewalk in front of the federal reserve. a few occupy supporters tried to maintain their ground by sitting on the sidewalk and not leaving the area but san francisco police say six people were arrested for interfering with officers and resisting

arrest. this morning we have spoken to several members of the occupy san francisco camp and they he will us -- tell us that the mood is one of generally anxiety. they believe it is a sign that this encampment will be brock den down soon. coming up, you will hear from one of the occupy sf in about a half hour from now. religious leaders visiting san francisco for a conference made a silent march. >> they sang songs as they approached the foot of market street in the rain and cold. once at the plaza, speakers

rallied the crowd with messages of support for the occupy movement. the occupy oakland movement has a new encampment. last night protestors marchched through 19th and telegraph, tore down a fence and pitched their tents. it comes after one week after police shut down the old encampment. nearby police officers stood by but reported no arrests. >> i don't think it will stop going up because the movement is too strong and will continue. >> i'm not speaking on behalf of the occupy movement. it wasn't my favorite choice because of neighborhood complaints. >> oakland police say no overnight camping is allowed but they did not take any overnight to clear out the protestors. husband and daughter of oak

land mayor jean kwon participated in the struck. they marched for the november 2nd strike that shut down the port of oakland. the two aren't commenting on the story but a spokesman said her family has a long history of progressive views and the family does not represent her as mayor. members of occupy san jose are trying a new strategy. they are occupying the homes of city leaders. shawn o'kelly pitched a tent in the mayor of chuck read's home. he is best known for climbing a wall at city hall and vowing to stay there for # # days. he -- 99 days. he decided to move because his efforts to reach out to city leaders have gone nowhere. >> sitting on the wall didn't get their attention. we will bring it to people's front yards and stuff. if they don't want to be embarrassed by their neighbors

or called out, let us do what we will do. >> reporter: he left the driveway before 5:30 yesterday afternoon. we have learned another protestor tried to occupy the home of the city manager. the chancellor at u.c. davis is under pressure so resign. the pepper spray incident that has people demanding action. oakland police are investigating an overnight shooting at a house party. it happened before 2:00 a.m. on rockingham court and campus drive near merit college. ems crews could be seen loading the victim into an ambulance. we don't know the exact age of the victim or his condition this morning. but we are told close to 100 people were at the party when the shooting occurred. no word from police on any suspect information. the family of a vallejo police officer killed in the line of duty wants to public to

honor him. officer jim capoot was chasing a suspect bank robber when he was shot and killed. police arrested henry albert smith friday. he is due in court tomorrow. he could face the death penalty if convicted. local leaders will hold a candlelight vigil tonight in front of vallejo city hall and they set up a memorial fund for the family. we are learning more about what may have driven the man suspected of killing officer capoot to the edge. court records found that henry albert smith was in financial trouble. the home where he lived with his wife and three children was recently placed in foreclosure. they had extensive credit card debt and student loan. 8,000 customers were left without power around 9:20 last

night. sonoma's airport and 350 people in fulton were without power. there is no estimation when it will be fully restored. no word why it went out. good morning to you. a few breaks out there in the clouds. we will continue with the showers and these breaks will fire off, perhaps, a few thunderstorms for the afternoon. giving you a look at what is happening out there, the radar is showing us the dark clouds you see over the bay, off the coastline. so many of us are actually getting a break at the moment. we have gray skies but most of the moisture is off the coastline. it will circle through the afternoon and we don't get rid of it until the second half of the day into the evening hours. moderate rain off pacifica, light rain over the north bay and we will continue with this trend because the storm is just offshore. so, the thunderstorms and that

possibility primarily is offshore. but with the surface heating in the afternoon, there comes the threat. here is the center of circulation. the coldest air is south, it will be over los angeles tonight. you will see the showers continue to push south as well but they will be with us the first half of the afternoon as well. by 11:00, spotty showers in the forecast from the east bay over the peninsula. into the afternoon, still over the peninsula, heading to see the 4ers play, bring the raincoat just in case. 3:00 in the afternoon, north bay dry. most of the east bay it is shifting south. tomorrow patchy fog, perhaps dense. 49 in san francisco. 49 oakland. 44 concord. 48 napa. 48 in santa rosa. the temperatures are up from yesterday but we are cloudy and soggy so it feels cool.

good morning. breaks in the clouds this morning. scattered showers remain in the forecast. police in washington, d.c. arrested six protestors after they tried to take over a shut down homeless shelter. they demanded the city reopen it. they say the occupy movement inspired them to take action. police took the protestors into custody. that lead to brief clashes on the street. >> hypothermia season. you see homeless of people getting thongs from churches

chancellor's resignation. she is expected to address the campus publicly tomorrow. you will find more information at ktvu.com. a man flying out of sacramento airport is facing charges after carrying a gun with him. there were ten rounds of ammunition with the weapon. lawmakers are considering legislation that could impose restrictions on helicopter use in los angeles. that was over the growing number of choppers flying over the city with no regulation. there are dozens of police, firefighter, media, papa razz say in the sky. >> i think people would be stunned to know with all of the regulation of air traffic that

injured as clashes continue. you are looking at video from last night when police could be seen firing tear gas into a square. another police movement is getting under way. protestors are upset over the new proposed constitution because it does not include public overnight for the military. in afghanistan, president hamid karzai addressed the national assembly after it endorsed a long-term security pact with the u.s. the endorsement is leading to a large protest. 1,000 students are blocking a main highway. they are angry because the pact will keep u.s. troops in afghanistan past 2014. in los angeles, protestors belonging to an armenian church is r demanding that they return seven pages from a gospel book. the protestors claim the pages

the ground continues to shift in southern california. people that live in san pedro are worried that weekend rain may speed up a landslide that has been moving since september. the ground is slipping about four inches a day dropping chunks of land into the ocean below. the landslide appears to be getting more serious. they are moving sewer lines and utility poles out of the way. the cleanup continues in north carolina after the devastating tornadoes there. jamie rummage is looking for savaging anything from her home. she took helter in the bathtub but most of the possessions were ripped apart. >> we don't know where the headboard and foot bad is. it ripped the sheets and comforter off. it left the mattress.

an occupy camp in san francisco is ripped down after police move in overnight. some of those once camping are in jail. good morning. welcome back to mornings on 2. >> the main encampment at justin herman plaza is in place. but the encampment in front of

the federal building is gone. >> reporter: up until early this morning, there were two occupy san francisco even campments. the larger one in justin herman plaza and the smaller in front of the federal reserve building hunted us. you can see the smaller is gone. tents and tables were removed. all that is in place are a half dozen police officers standing guard in the area making sure no one comes back. police broke up the federal occupy reserve camp around 1:00 last night. some witnesses tell us as many as 200 officers were there. they took down the tents in front of the federal reserve building. they arrested six people for interfering with the officers. we spoke to a man that was part of the federal reserve camp and he said his tent and sleeping bag were confiscated. >> they came after midnight

when it was raining and we didn't expect them to come. we were setting up tents to protect ourselves. we were tired. they had done this three nights in a row. >> reporter: the larger camp is intact but many are afraid. they believe a raid on that larger camp with about 200 tents could happen any day. in between both camps, if we take you out live, we can show you there are metal barricades set up along the sidewalk on market street to prevent people from setting up and pitching tents in the area. long time activist daniel elsburg is set to speak tonight. we ran into him earlier this week when he joined the occupy cal movement hoping to be

arrested. he was not. he says he is inspired by the young people inspired in the movement but tonight he will caution the protestors. >> that is one of the lessons i would want to pass on, not to think that, well, this hasn't worked, let's go back to violation. violation hasn't worked for thousands of years. people haven't given up on that. >> elsburg is scheduled to speak at 7:30. johan nice mehserle is due back in court tomorrow as part of a police brutality lawsuit. he says they kicked, punched and hog-tied him during an incident at the oakland cossey yum bart station in november of 2008, six weeks before the

fatal shooting of oscar grand. two officers in stockton are on paid administrative leave after they killed a man when he tried to run him over. chp says the two officers tried to pull over a vehicle but that the driver sped off. after a short chase the driver crashed the car. the driver put the car in reverse and drove toward them and the officers fired their weapons. >> it's not easy for us when we have to take someone's life. we have to defend ourself. >> the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. highway patrol says he was on parole and a car was found in the car. police have a sketch of a man they say attempt to kidnap a teenage girl one week adding. a man tried to pull a 17-year- old girl in his car.

she fought the man off and escaped. he is being described as hispanic in his 40s, 5'7" inches tall, 170 pounds. his car was older with paint splotches that may have been covering up rust. the shooting death of a man in oakland has community members calling for peace. >> members of the group save rallied yesterday where 25-year- old foster was shot to death ten days ago. foster spent time at the occupy camp. they want to raise awareness of the toll violence takes on the city. an oakland woman that disappeared earlier this week has been found. i didn't think i didn't think lee -- ying ying lee was record missing when she didn't return

from her college. one city official said it's possible she became part of the occupy movement in oakland. a woman is facing indecent charges for baring all in support of the occupy movement. police saw 52-year-old lori ellen canon taking off her clothes at a downtown intersectionment she was holding a hand made occupy sign. she was arrested after refusing to put her clothes back on. today downtown san francisco art gallery will celebrate the return of a sketch stolen but returned this summer. mark will you go pled guilty to stealing the sketch in july. he is scheduled to be released from custody tomorrow and placed on mandatory super advised probation. he will be extradited to new york to face additional theft charges. firefighters in reno hope to have a wind driven fire

fully con taunted today. that fire started early friday morning and was fueled by near hurricane force winds. 32 homes were destroyed. the winds died down and snow started falling which helped crews get the upper hand. at the height of the fire, 40,000 peoples were evacuated. >> to know some people weren't as lucky and it's heart- breaking. >> just over 2,000 acres were burned. investigators think it was a downed power line that smashed the fire. a berkeley intersection is closed. a fire started before 9:00 friday night at the building on telegraph avenue. it took firefighters six hours to bring the flames under control. the building has been red tagged because engineers say it is structurally unsound. firefighters say the fire may have started in an elevator equipment room. 60 people were displaced.

police in los angeles are searching for a man accused of killing a transgender woman and shooting at another one. about 30 minutes later and a mile away another transgender woman was shot at. investigators believe the same man is responsible for both shootings. a woman in florida is facing charges for injecting a woman with dangerous chemicals during a botched chemical procedure. she pretended to be a doctor and charged $700 for implants. she was injected with a life threatening mix of mineral oil, fix a flat tire sealant. >> she developed pawns. she noticed something was wrong. >> she was treated for pawn and pneumonia. it appears more americans are relying on pills to deal

with mental health problems. the wall street journal reports one in five takes one psychiatric drug up 22% compared to 10 years ago. the review found an increase in adult use of adhd drugs which are normally prescribed for churn. the data is based on claims by medco health solutions. the teen birth rate is down to a record low. the centers for disease control says the numbers fell 9% compared to the year before. the drop was in part caused by improvements in sex education. the oakland mayor's office kicked off the holiday toy drive. thousands submitted applications. organizers expected to serve as many as 2200 families, about 600 more than last year. >> what we are seeing is a new

overnight raid. >> reporter: up until early this morning, there had been two occupy san francisco ev campments. a larger one and a smaller one in front of the federal reserve. that is the area you are looking at. you can see the tents are gone. up until about 15 minutes ago there were about a dozen or so police officers standing guard making sure no one tried to reestablish a camp but about 15 minutes ago the police officers left. overnight police broke up the camp about 1:00 this morning when they came. at least 100 officers were there. some witnesses say there were close to 200. police took down a dozen tents in front of the federal reserve sidewalk and some tried to hold their ground sitting on the walk and avoiding arrests. but that didn't work. the officers arrested six
