encampment. kraig doe bro -- kraig debro has more. what made them decide to move in? >> reporter: we understand from police and our other site at frank ogawa plaza, there are a handful of other protesters. i asked them what their next move was and they weren't sure. if you look to the left, there's a two city trucks here. city workers have been here most of the morning. city workers were here picking up trash. using their trucks, headlights to see about six city of oakland workers fill up two pickup trucks. among the items left behind, at least one mattress signs and more traditional trash like food wrappers. the supervisor said this was an emergency response but would not say how much this is

costing the city. oakland police showed up at snow park about midnight. it was their second on -- second okay pay operation in two -- occupy operation in two weeks. one person says the movement is alive in spirit and in body. >> more actions, demonstrations, come back here for sure every single day. as soon as this all kind of quiets down, usually, it seems like three days is the magic number. we'll come back and there will be a tent here. >> reporter: it was last monday that oakland police backed up by dozens of law enforcement from all over the bay area moved in on the frank ogawa encampment there. there, her than 100 -- more than 100 tents were taken down. obvious rick the -- obviously the work needs to be receded. if you look here in snow park, there weren't as many tents or as many people here. but there is a lot of garbage

left behind. i guess in haste. you see this little trash here. if you look over to that fenced- in area, there seems to be a lot of -- i don't know if they were cheaping -- if they were keeping their trash. the city has been here for three and a half hours, so when the sun comes up, the trash is no longer here. reporting live from kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, kraig. as kraig mentioned, the latest occupy camp didn't last long. one neighbor took this cell phone video at 19th and telegraph yesterday morning. police police officers in riot gear told protesters to move out. the officers moved in less than 24 hours after protesters pitched their new tents at this location. the demonstrators left peacefully. there were no arrests. mayor jean quan says the occupy camps will no longer be tolerated anywhere in oakland.

time by -- may be running out for the occupy camp in san francisco. there are still camps up at justin herman plaza. earlier police raided the area near the federal reserve bank. officers made a half-dozen arrests. many occupy protesters say they are expecting a raid on the big camp within the next few days before thanksgiving. city leaders are also dropping strong hints the days of the camp may be number. there was a new development just a few hours ago in the pepper spray incident. we'll have that coming up. former b.a.r.t. police officer, johannes mehserle, will soon be back in a bay area cram but it has nothing to do with the oscar grant shooting. allie rasmus is live to tell us

about a civil lawsuit filed against mess. >> reporter: that's right -- messerly -- mehserle is accused of using excessive force on a man named caruthers. this incident happened in november of 2008, just six weeks before johannes mehserle was involved in the shooting death of oscar grant. johannes mehserle was convicted of oscar grant's shooting in 2009 on new year aday. during this civil trial with this other man, the jury is expected to hear from a number of opinionses -- witnesses, including johannes mehserle, himself. johannes mehserle is expected to tiff that he was protecting a fellow officer from the man and the man says he was kicked and punched by officers. jury selection is supposed to start in an hour from now here

behind bars after police say he shot and wounded his sister while holding family members hostage. alvin baja lewis was taken into custody overnight in san francisco. police say he pulled two guns on family members inside their spruce avenue home in south san francisco last night. when his family tried to escape, police say he fired a shot at his sister. she was hit in the hand. no one else was hurt. police say lewis was upset about family issues and may have been under the influence of drugs. 7:07. let's go to sal get you on the roads. -- sal, get you on the roads. what's happening? >> 2 0 northbound is getting a little bit more prouded -- 280 northbound is getting a little bit more crowded. no major problems as i look at the south bay 101 and 280 they are looking pretty good with no major issues. this morning's commute will be a little bit slow at the bay

campus police and this is gaining national attention, mike. >> reporter: indeed. good morning. the fallout is continuing to grow so much so that you have to ask the question, who if anybody is next. all of this stemming from this. take a look, friday, campus police officers here on the campus -- speller -- pepper spraying. earlier this weekend, we learned that two of the officers involved here were put on paid leave. now we've learned that the campus police has been put on paid leave. the further more, the chancellor has asked the yolo county district attorney -- the yolo county district attorney. on top of that, the president of the entire uc system has said he was appalled by the video he saw. and is asking for a review of all uc campuses and to show i -- to show you how how the heat

in overnight news, there was -- it was a crash scene that would scare most people away. tara moriarty is live in san francisco to explain how witnesses used a street pole to free aman from his burning car and save his life. tara? >> reporter: that's right. it's a pretty amazing story. and this is the pole in the sidewalk. this is the one they use to ram cue the -- ram through the car window to get to the man.

that pole weighs a ton, i don't know how they did it. but the daring rescue happened just after the 1:30 this morning. police say a driver headed eastbound slammed into the light post and his car caught on fire. as gas leaked, sparks flew, the car burst into flames while the victim was unside unconscious. that's when a cabdriver and two men came to help. i think it's very heroic. i think it's risky? i've seen these fires before in the cars and an explosion could happen at any time and it still stayed with it which is incredible. then a police officer arrived and you see his personal pocketknife to cut the man's seat belt and free him. >> just my job. i just did what any one of us would have done. >> reporter: the victim who was not been identified was transported to san francisco general hospital. no word on his condition yet. but we do know he was breathing
