westbound. no major problems. and the traffic on 280 northbound 280 -- dave is laughing. northbound 280 is moving along pretty well over here getting up to highway 17. at 4:30 let's go back to the desk. the occupy sf camp may be moving to a new location. claudine wong is at san francisco justin herman plaza this morning to tell us about mayor ed lee's new plan. >> reporter: there is talk about a possible move, but at this hour justin herman plaza remains status quo. you can see the tents remain. about 200 tents about 300 to 400 people inside that encampment. a couple officers here as well as down market street. the barricades remain as you can see in the spots where they have removed occupy

encampments. we have seen at various times of the night three different police cars poxed along market street preventing anyone returning to those locations. i want to show you video from 1:00 this morning. police quickly moved in and took that tent away. it's unclear if the man was arrested or detained. the mayor has said the occupy tempts need to leave. the question is when and will they? this morning the chronicle reporting that the mayor's office is considering to try to relocate the camp from justin herman plaza to a site at mission and 15th which is the site of the old phoenix continuation school. they took some people over there and told protestors they can pitch their tents in the parking lot and can have bathrooms. they will tell you they have no

leader. that could make negotiations difficult when you try to move an entire camp. second that site is school property. any deal would have to be approved by the board of education. that possible solution still has steps to take. in the meantime there is growing discontent out here from business owners and restaurants that this justin herman plaza area does remain occupied. live in san francisco claudine wong ktvu channel 2 news. >> dozens of defiant occupy oakland patrol percent tours remain at -- protestors remain at their camp. about 200 protestors voluntarily packed up and left after getting word the owner of the property wants them out. police watched quietly from across the street. at least 50 occupy protestors returned a few hours later. they now seem determined to stay there. it's not clear how police will respond. the controversial pepper

spraying incident at uc davis could lead to changes for the entire uc system. mark yew doff you doff is taking a new system. former los angeles police chief william bradton will lead the investigation. the chancellor met with angry students last night. chancellor says she's appalled by the actions of the uc davis police officers and she reached out to the students directedly involved in the controversy. >> i am requesting that all charges against the students that have been arrested be dropped. that any medical expenses incurred will be funded. >> many students and faculty members were unmoved. they repeated their call for

the chancellor's immediate resignation. the landslide that damaged several san pablo homes back in march is the subject of a lawsuit. ktvu channel 2 reporter tara moriarty joins us more with more on the case that is creating another mess. >> reporter: the people that live here off of hill crest roads are literally on edge because there is rain in the forecast and a landslide happened here back in march. you see some of the work that is currently being done in order to prevent the hill from slipping any further. now seven homes were yellow tagged. homeowners are pushing forward with a lawsuit. although it remains unclear who will sue. three home ordinary reasons on hill crest are not only suing the 21, but their neighbors perched at the top accusing both of inproper maintenance of drainage. previously homeowners were united suing the city saying

they were not informed about a 1968 mud slide. they said because some of it happened on public private they will fund it. now the city acknowledges receiving the lawsuit but does not comment and now with rain in the forecast again many homeowners are concerned. coming up we will tell you what they are currently doing to stave off any disaster. i'm tara moriarty. the city of berkeley is trying to speed up the rebuilding process for two downtown businesses destroyed by last week's fire. they were on the ground floor of the apartment complex that burned last friday. the city council is is now considering waving permit fees for the two businesses in case they want to relocate. it can range anywhere from $800 to tens of thousands of dollars. the businesses will still have

to get state required permits. hundreds of people paid attribute to a young marine from danville at a candle light vigil last night. ♪ i once was lost but now i'm found ♪ >> that is a friend of lance corporal joshua corral who sang amazing grace. corral was killed in a combat last friday in afghanistan. his cousin says dealing with the loss is even more difficult because it's the holidays. >> it hits our family so hard. he's a huge inspiration. huge aspect of all of our lives. just wanted to see everyone smile. that was his main goal. >> family members are now finalizing plans for a memorial for joshua. a vallejo police officer who was killed in the line of duty was honored by the community he served for 19

years. mourners filled a downtown vallejo church to remember officer james capoot. the veteran officer was shot chasing a bank robbery suspect last week. his death has sent shock waves through the community. >> our city is in crisis. but we are going to make it through this tragedy. we are going to honor this man that has given his life for the well being for this entire city. >> now officer capoot is survived by his wife and three daughters. a trust fund for them has been set up at bank of the west. a funeral service will be held next wednesday at vallejo high. oakland police are looking for a hit and run driver that seriously injured a bicyclist. that happened on international

boulevard. the impact of the crash left the bike in pieces. the victim was take ton the hospital -- was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries. anyone with information is asked to call oakland police. time now is 4:38. tonight, the chp launches its annual thanksgiving holiday crack down. mothers against drunk driving says the wednesday before thanksgiving is traditionally one of the worst nights for excessive drinking. the highways patrol maximum enforcement period begins at 6:00 tonight and goes through midnight on sunday. if you are look for ways to stay off the roads this thanksgiving, amtrak is extending its service. the train that usually stops at jacqueline station will continue to san jose. today and sunday are expected to be the busiest day for the airports and with rain moving into the bay area, travelers

are being advised to call ahead. 4:39. sal, as you have been mentioning it will be interesting. some of the roads could be crowded. people are driving to their thanksgiving destination. airport certainly crowded. >> that is right. yesterday i was at a couple bay area airports. sundays is the busiest day followed by today. and they have a couple dead days between. if you are traveling today or sunday it will be a lot of other people get there early. allow two hours for international flight and 90 minutes for domestic flight. maybe even more. if you want to be really super ready get there really early and you will have to time to not be all worried about. let's take a look at 80 westbound getting out to the mccarthur maze that traffic looks pretty good. no major problems on 880 heading down to the oakland international airport. westbound bay bridge that traffic looks good and no

problems in san francisco. and then 280 traffic looks pretty good here. driving up to highway 17 and 880 is nice and wide open for your san jose international airport exit. 4:40 let's go to steve. thank you, sal. our system is inching closer. it will give us a lot of cloud cover today. and then tonight rain will move in. it looks like rain tomorrow. the system will stretch when you do that you take a lot of energy away from it. it's also splitting. we will still get rain. every system that has come by it has produced rain. our system is going to produce decent tolls up north of fort bragg. the overnight lows are running warmer. there are projections between a couple inches of rain up there. but again heaviest rain will be to the north. you have lesser amounts you go to the south. if you are traveling today sierra will be fine. snow level will go up.

good morning. mostly cloudy today. any rain right now is confined way to the northeast. fog is not as big an issue. highs today a little cooler to the north. mid 60s to the south. rain moves in late tonight into tomorrow morning. people at a marin county nursing home may be able to see their family on thanksgiving day if no new cases of norovirus are seen. the most recent person on monday. another identified marin nursing home also has an ongoing outbreak. norovirus can cause a lot of symptoms including vomiting, dehydration and sometimes death. cnn is reporting that the

state's children and youth services has opened two new cases within the last 60 days. he is already facing 40 charges of sexual abuse. he has denied the allegations. but if the accusations turn out to be credible, they would be the first known cases involving current minors. all of the other alleged victims are now adults. egyptian police are responding to antigovernment protests with force today. officers fired rubber bullets to demonstrators near cairo square. demonstrators are seeking immediate removal of military council. the death toll from five days of unrest is at 38. in election news this morning, national security and foreign policy took center stage in the latest debate between the republican presidential candidates.

4:48 is the time right now this morning. president obama will use his executive powers to spare the lives of two turkeys at the white house. they will pardon the two turkeys at a ceremony. they were tamed in preparation for their white house appearance by four teenage earns that are members of future farmers of america in minnesota. tie hard shoppers in cleveland are already securing their place for black friday. take a look. these people moved into the area last week setting up camp outside of best buy store. best buy, toys r us and walmart are some of the stores that plan on opening at midnight. they say camping out is the only way to get the best deals and they do not mind the wait. oakland is encouraging shoppers to feed black friday morning into the local economy.

all right look at that amazing video caught on tape. a helicopter crash in new zealand. it was trying to install a stage for a christmas tree. the tail snapped and it was thrown to the ground. you can see pretty quickly. amazingly luckily there is the pilot he walked away without any serious injuries. cal tran is planning to tag deer along interstate 280 on a way to cut down on deer verses driver collisions. they say there is a deer habitat that runs along san jose and san francisco. animals are finding their way on the freeways that are causing accidents that can be fatal. >> they are up there all the time. they are not smart at all. they run down the middle of the road. they are pretty much around all
