today. a lot of 60s. partly cloudy, partly sunny. light rain in the morning. maybe some of that valley fog is itching to get going. 50s and 60s on your temperatures. here is tara. >> all right thanks steve. did you say boot scooting? i believe you did. let's get to the traffic right now. it looks like your roadways are pretty good. there is a lot of folks out there for black friday. this is a look at 101 through san francisco. you see folks heading to the south. next up we have a look at the east shore freeway where folks on the left hand side are heading toward the bay bridge. no delays to report. down on the south bay 280 everything is looking good. here is pam. we begin with developing news in the east bay. black friday erupts in gunfire outside a walmart store. police are still looking for

the shooter. ktvu kraig debro is in san leandro. >> reporter: we talked to the police as a matter of fact. they do have somebody in custody. the victim is an adult male in his 20s. he's in stable condition. you can see the scene in the parking lot. but what it looks to be a driveway of the walmart here. overnight necessary is black friday they had a lot of sales. i talked to a security guard here. they told us there were no items that went on sale at 10:00. the shooting happened at 1:50. there were barricades out here. what a witness told is she heard arguing. the police confirmed this arguing between two men. she said was two groups of people that were arguing and heard a gunshot. she saw several people jump into the car and leave. but police tell me that some of the victims some of the people in the victims party held one of the people that was with the

suspect with the shooter. police actually don't know if they have the shooter or if this was somebody in that party. we will talk to police again in a couple of minutes from now to get more details and also have a witness that i will speak to to get more details from. kraig debro ktvu channel 2 news. in los angeles police are searching for a woman that squirted pepper spray at fellow shoppers. that happened just before 10:30 last night. she armed herself with the spray to gain an advantage in fights for merchandise. 20 customers including children were injured. they suffered minor skin and eye irritations and sore throats. black friday is bringing shoppers to malls around the bay area. we are there with the shopping frenzy. what are people waiting for? >> reporter: well, right now over here they are waiting at

star bucks because they are trying to get their caffeine on to make sure they can keep going. actually, this girl over here told me she has been here since how long? >> 10:30:00 p.m.. >> yeah. she has been here since 10:30:00 p.m.. the mall doesn't officially open until 5:00 a.m. believe it or not. a few stores opened at midnight including macy's. apparently there was 4,000 people outside the mall waiting before midnight tonight before the door opened. i'm live with kim the marketing director for fun valley mall. 4,000 people before midnight. >> it's by far the biggest opening we have ever had. we are so excited. look how lively it is here this morning. >> reporter: so economy not really an issue it seems like at the mall. >> absolutely not. this is the biggest opening we have had. people are here taking full advantage of all the wonderful door busters and all the

5:30. the holiday shopping season is kicking off with a rush. that is the best buy in emeryville opened at midnight with a stampede of shoppers. they know exactly what they want. some of whom spent thanksgiving day outside the store waiting in line. once inside there was a mad dash for door buster deals such as $200, 42-inch televisions. >> how long were you in line? >> eight hours. >> reporter: was it worts the eight -- was it worth the eight hour wait? >> in some ways it was and some ways it wasn't. >> consumer electronics remain a popular item on holiday wish lists. this is the highest level since 2008. well midnight door busters and deep discounts may not be enough to lure in occupy protestors. some are calling for the

occupation of big box retailers. stores like best buy and target could become the sites of picket or boycotts. they want consumers to avoid big box stores and instead spend money at locally owned businesses. >> i think when we can go out and support local businesses and local vendors and mom and pop shops that is awesome. >> we need stuff for our families and i work every day. >> organizers of the national occupy black friday movement says the annual holiday shopping frenzy helps fuel big corporations and puts consumers in debt. new youtube video shows a thanksgiving day scuffle at an occupy oakland protest. take a look at that. ahead in ten minutes what police officers told protestors they couldn't have that caused that scuffle to break out. just about an hour ago

normal operations resumed out of chicago hospital. that is after a man was fatally shot and the gunman is still at large. that shooting happened just before midnight in a parking garage at the university of illinois medical center. at 1:00 a.m. a text message was sent out to students warning them about the shooter. it appears the victim is the exgirlfriend of the suspected gunman. santa rosa police are investigating an officer involved shooting that killed one person. that confrontation happened yesterday outside the redwood grove apartments. police say a woman was alone in her apartment and called 911 to report an angry exboyfriend banging on her back door. when a sebastopol police officer arrived he realized the suspect had a gun. the officer shot and killed the man. investigators are now conducting interviews to find out what led up to the shooting. >> domestic violence is a real unknown. you don't know all the emotion that is behind it.

how long it has been going on. the build up. you don't know what happened earlier in the day. your hands are tied when you get on a scene like that. >> santa rosa police have taken over the case because it does involve a sebastopol officer. we are learning new details about the suspect arrested in that fatal shacking in pa say koa -- pacheco. he stabbed a 46-year-old man after an argument wednesday night. the suspect and the victim did know each other. carter was arrested yesterday morning. he is being held on $1 million bail. a thanksgiving day fire damaged one home in newark. they were called to the scene yesterday afternoon. neighbors tried to fight the fire with a garden hose but were unsuccessful. two people were treated at the scene with minor smoke inhalation. it looks like the fire began in

looks like a traffic hazard opinion don't know what it is. here is steve. thank you, tara. good morning, everyone. we do have a system sliding by it will be gone pretty soon. a few light showers popping up in this fast north westerly direction coming down. a lot of low cloudiness hanging around in some of that valley fog will get ready to go. today it may not. we do have partly cloudy skies. there you can see it slicing right there toward napa and marin county. maybe not enough to give us drizzle or light rain. it will be gone pretty soon. 40 upper 40s to 50 degrees. we will see colder lows tomorrow. today you can see there is a lot of high pressure out there. it will hang around for awhile. partly cloudy and partly sunny. light rain. fog out toward the valley or the east.

good morning, a little system just slicing through right now. that will leave and we will have partly cloudy skies today. today looks dry for awhile. temperatures will warm up tomorrow. if you are flying this weekend don't expect to find any oxygen masks in the bathroom. concerns that someone could use it to start a fire. the faa told usa today it was a precautionary measure and no threats have been made. oxygen masks above the cabin seats are still allowed.

crews in arizona are still working to recover the body of victims of wednesday night firey plane crash. three adults and three children were killed. the pilot just picked up his children to celebrate thanksgiving. scorch marks are still visible on the mountainside. the recovery effort is extremely difficult because of the rough terrain. they also say there is no indication the plane was in distress. street fighting in cairo has ebbed but tensions are still high this morning. they don't plan on leaving the square until the ruling military council steps aside for a civilian government. the council said the first of three rounds of parliamently elections will begin as scheduled next week. many demonstrators are unhappy about it. the state department is working to confirm if these three american students have

been released from an egyptian jail. they were arrested earlier this week for allegedly throwing fire bombs during a prodemocracy protest. yesterday an egyptian court ordered their release. as of now it's unclear if they have been or when they will be let go. american troops spent their last thanksgiving in iraq. in baghdad military men and women enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner yesterday. one soldier commented it never compares to his mom's cooking but it works. there are fewer than 20,000 troops across the country. u.s. forces are to be out of the country by the end of the year. arizona congresswoman giffords spent part of her thanksgiving serving food to troops at an air force base in tucson. it was her first event since she was shot in the head. the acting manner of the 12th

officers ordered the truck to leave. organizers tell us here at ktvu news that they have received a donation of more than 100 tents. more tents are expected soon. members of the community donated food yesterday for thanksgiving day dinner. it comes one week after campus police officers sprayed protestors creating nation-wide headlines. >> we are starting to have a self-awakening to what it means to live william police who have so much potential for violence and what it is to live in a police state. >> occupy protestors are gearing up for a campus wide general strike. that is set to take place on monday. in san jose occupy protestors held a thanksgiving day dinner outside of city hall. two city council members stepped in to let it take place. they say they are not reoccupying city hall. protestors are in negotiations to allow all day protests

when that chopper went down. helicopter was helping to install a christmas tree when the blades got caught in the cable. that's when the chopper tail snapped and crashed to the ground. the pilot walked away with only scratches. he says it's because of a seat belt. >> it's attached to the floor of the craft. if i wasn't wearing that, it would have been all over. >> he says the accident has not destroyed his love of flying and look fog get back into the -- looking to get back into the say as soon as he can. the 80-foot tall tree will be different this year because it's artificial. macy's says being green is the reason for not using a real tree. celebration begins at 6:00 tonight and will include a performance by olympic skater

finally 680 at the sunol grade no delays to report. steve, what are you buying today? your traffic report. >> all right. that will cost you. >> it always does. we have a little system right there. not much there. that will be it. probably for awhile as well. light rain in the morning. mostly cloudy though. it's generally cloudy to mostly cloudy. by this afternoon partly sunny and cloudy. we will have upper as 50s to very low 60s. right now there is a south easterly breeze. after today things look really quiet. in fact warm as we head into the weekend and early next week. no sign of anything until maybe, maybe end of the week next week. that would be until next thursday or friday. until then things look really quiet. there will be a lot of that fog. upper 40s, low 50s.

there is now a motive in san leandro from a black friday shooting. what led up to that shooting. we are live in sun valley mall in concord where hundreds of people are lined up. the mall is about to open at 25:00 a.m.. we will tell you why these people are out here since 3:00 a.m. to get into sports authority.
