standing their ground no matter what. i talked to one of the demonstrators just a few moments ago. i said what's the plan here? police are saying for you to leave. what do you plan to do? he said we will hold our ground and that seems to be what's happening happening right now. we have a standoff right here on stockton in front of the store. thousands of black friday shoppers crowding around everywhere and we have a stand off between protesters and police who have geared up in their riot gear. we are going to watch out, we have over here -- look over here, a little bit of pushing shoving. one of the protests walking up to police and they have made their way. you can see just a few feet from police. a faceoff. the middle of a very, very busy black friday shopping day. >> do not challenge the officers. >> you hear the police speaking saying do not challenge the police officers.

police have given notice to the protesters saying leave the street or you will be arrested. they are standing here feet apart. obviously things can change at a membership's notice and alex will stay on the scene and we will keep our news chopper 2 over union square as well. we will bring you new slopements throughout the newscast. >> now to the massive water main break. we have team coverage. we will start with how it all happened. >> reporter: frank the huge geyser of water was directly behind me earlier this morning just spurting up into the air and going over the roof of the neighboring houses. the water maine break created a huge sink hole where you see the chain link fences. that's where the pipe was d is. though this all happened in the morning the streets here are still wet. from news chopper 2 you can see what looks like old faithful shooting up into the sky from the neighborhood right below

the sign in the hills. firefighters think the water was 100 feet up in the air at times. >> looked like niagara falls. just like something punctured it. >> reporter: the utilities commission said a the water main break happened around 9:45. fire crews evacuated seven home that were near the gushing pipeline. they were worried about safe if. >> the two houses next to the water main break, that the foundations would erode and the houses would collapse. >> reporter: as concern for people who lived below. ited the streets in to rivers and firefighters worried about mudslides. >> mud coming up, over the planter box. we couldn't see the lawn. >> reporter: at 12:50 water was shut off. the break created a huge sink hole and exposed the pipes. you can see the break-in this

man arrested this morning. take a look. this is tony phillips of oakland. he is now in a jail tonight and is expected to be charged with attempted homicide and robbery. police say he is one of three robbers. tonight the victim's family talked about the horror of this year's holiday shopping. black friday inside this wal- mart was chaos inside as customers rushed to find posted deals. >> people were pushing shoving. at that time i kind of like moved back to the store because i was started to get nervous. >> reporter: just before two in the morning. >> two officers patrolling, the parking lot. as they drove over to wither they were flagged down, one them saw a body laying on the ground there. >> reporter: the man onto ground, had been shot and nearby several men were restraining another. >> we think happened is was a robbery gone bad. >> reporter: the robbers wanted

items just purchased inside wal- mart but they refused to give them up. then they argued, a fight broke out. someone pulled out a gun and fired. the victim had bought a car stereo while his aunt and mother shopped at a nearby store. >> we heard that someone was shot at wal-mart. to find out it's my nephew. >> reporter: his mother drove by on her way home, reporting the scene to police. not even realizing her son was the person shot. the family's cousins found it hard to find words to describe what they felt. >> any family member would shocking, terrified, hoping for the best. >> reporter: police say wal- mart had security guards and shut down the store until the investigation was over. the victim is in critical condition. reporting live. jade hernandez. >> in los angeles today a

woman used pepper spray to try to clear out a crowd inside a store to get a black friday deal on an x box. it happened at a wal-mart. the woman squirted the pepper spray into the air because of to many people between her and the x box. she was able to grab it and check out during all the confusion. >> just like a fight at games and then people started screaming and kids were on the floor and then everybody started to -- she sprayed it in the air. >> reporter: this is video from inside the store. bystander was treated including some children. police are looking for the woman. she is a latina in her 30s. >> while the start of the holiday shopping season is serious business for some at great mall, some stores tried for a lighter tone. >> who was a picture of their pet? >> reporter: the baby store gave away coupons to people when answered quizes and challenges. one used stroller to carry

leaders. you can see there hundreds of people jammed in the square in cairo. the government has appointed a new prime minister. he will oversee the transition. the protesters say they want the military to hand overpower immediately. the mother of one of the college students detained said she is excited her son is being released. >> directly from the police station they will be taken to the airport, the university is going to ship their stuff home. i don't care about that. i just want him home. >> she said her son will land tomorrow afternoon. police had accused them of throwing fire bombs during protests. at 5:30 we will hear from a member of the bay area community. the big split he said he noticed among the people there.

. more on the top story the breaking news from san francisco, what you are looking at here is a standoff between police and occupy protesters, this is going on on stockton street. just to give you a frame of reference it's essentially right in between the main macy's and the men's store which is directly across the street there on stockton. what's happening here is these protesters, have been out pretty much all afternoon and what they are doing is asking shoppers not to shop at major stores like macy's because they consider them to be part of the

1%. again there is a standoff going on right now. the police have warned the protesters to stay away and do not approach the police. you can see the ground shot there on the right. the police standing their guard in riot gear. there have been some tense moments but we aren't aware of any arrests. you can see the huge crowd. also impacting traffic in the area around union square. we are continuing to follow this story. we are working to get more information as we do we will bring it to you. >> as temperatures start to drop around the bay area there are many people who struggle to stay warm and that's where you can help. we have been out in the bay area all day collecting coats. let's go to lloyd who has been gathering coats from gracious donors. hi. >> reporter: that's right. look at my friend there's. these are the browne ease and girl scouts and they are bagging up some of the coats we have collected throughout today. let me give you -- this coat is

san jose around 54 and livermore around 55 degrees. partly cloudy skies, south bay, more cloud cover though as we work to the north. this was a time l aps e. log looking toward san francisco bay. shows up nicely here on the satellite. the regional satellite in to the cloud from earlier this morning in to the afternoon breaking up a bit from mid to late afternoon. especially down toward mountain view and san jose. overnight lows for saturday morning back down to the upper 30s to the lower 40s. santa rosa forecast low of 39, san jose 43 and morgan hill around 40. you can see i have painted in dense fog and that will be concerned for the inland valleys first thing saturday morning up in to the north bay and for the east bay. we had dense areas of fog around fairfield and i'm expecting a repeat performance into saturday. the brake down throughout the day. watch for reduced visibility. no dense fog advisories but still cloud cover to contend

. back to the breaking news going on near union square. specifically on stockton street in between the macy's and the men's store. you can see it's a standoff that continues tonight between police in riot gear and occupy protesters asking people not to shop at some of the major retailers which they consider to be part of the 1%. alex our reporter is right in the middle of this. he has within been talking to protesters and police. we will hear from him with new information in just about three minutes. >> ohio authorities believe they have found two more victims in a deadly craigslist robbery spree. they believe the man found in a shallow grave had answered the same add as a man found dead last week and then they found a

third body about 90-mile away also in a shallow grave. they believe the victims answered an add for a farm hand along with a 4th person who said he was shot but got away. they say they have two suspects in custody. >>

. we continue to follow breaking news happening in the streets of union square. there is a tense standoff in the area. proker protesters have made good on their promise to disrupt black friday shopping. we are live at the scene and have brought it to you live. at 5:00 with police setting up that line and are you on the ground there. >> reporter: for about the last half hour we had a standoff taking place. we are on stockton. you can see the protesters that essentially have set up camp here in the middle of the street and you can see a line of san francisco police officers, they are holding their ground and not letting the protesters go any further up the street. this all is part of what's being called occupy black friday. essentially about 2:00 or so a group of a hundred demonstrators showed up and were urging shoppers not to

spend their money at corporate retailers. >> reporter: a group of about 100 protesters stormed union square this afternoon with a message for black friday shoppers. >> out of the stores, into the streets. >> reporter: they asked people not to spend their money at corporate retailer, companies seen as part of the 1%. >> if people take the time towels where their money goes to maybe do better than toys and thing that won't last. >> reporter: san francisco police officers were out in force. there was pushing shoving at one point. many snapped pictures of the demonstration, some weighing in on the occupy black friday movement. >> i think it's ridiculous. they are down here, costing the city millions in resources and they want to walk around the street demonstrating for nothing. . >> reporter: there was talk about protesters trying to occupy macy's but police blocked them. instead they sat down in the

middle of several intersections to make their voices heard. frustrating many drivers. this woman tried to convince protesters to stop blocking her car. >> i just want safe passage. >> reporter: you can see right now part of the group of protester social security now on the move, they are moving back to the intersection again. it's entirely shut down. traffic not moving here in union square. still about a half block up that way a line of police officers, they have in the last hour or so issued several warnings to demonstrators to leave the area and get back on the sidewalks, so far they have not responded to those warnings. this he are they have staying in the streets. we haven't seen arrests or police take action but we will stay out here and let you know if anything happens. >> reporter: and obviously we will continue follow that breaking news throughout this newscast and the news at six.

we should tell you it's causing traffic problems in union square. it's affecting muni service. they have delayed and rerouted some bus lines, due to the occupy protest that you are looking at right here. essentially here is what's happening. the f lines switching back at 11th street and at the ferry building. they also report that lines two, three three and 38 will being rerouted because of what's going on in the area of union square. in los angeles the mayor and police chief have just wrapped up a news conference giving an ultimatum to campers. the mayor put the occupiers on notice. they must clear out their camp by 12:01 monday morning. they said they want the process to go peacefully. the police chief said the city has allowed them for 56 days and he said it's now time to restore the gift to the public and enforce health and safety

laws. >> union square was the scene of a protest for fur friday. they showed what liked like skinned bloody bodies. others carried signs and urged shoppers to avoid buying things made of fur saying even fur trim is cruel. >> it's not a by product. the animals are killed, almost 20 million killed yearly for fur trim and lining. even just a little hurts a lot. >> reporter: the group in defense of animals coordinated the protest. it comes on the heelless of a anthony fur victory. on monday west holy wad is the first city to ban the sale of fur. tension and hope here in the bay area and overseas. as the egypt protest hits home for so many with ties to that country. robert honda live with what's at stake. >> reporter: we are at the
