certify ceremony. police are trying to watch this small group. they are taking part in what's called occupy black friday. it's a movement and they are urging shoppers not to spend their money at corporate retail experts just about an hour ago they had a standoff and we want to show you the scene. a standoff with police in front of the macy's store between the men's store and the main store. protesters and police were just a few feet apart. they were -- police were ordering them to clear out. the protesters were not abiding by the orders. there were no arrests that were made and so far we haven't seen any movement by police to try to clear them out of the street and in fact the streets as i'm told were going to be shut down any way because of the tree lighting ceremony so it looks like they will be able to stay here in the middle of stockton at least for the time being. of course police will watch

them, they will try to figure out where they are going to make their way next and take any action they deem necessary. for now we are live at union square in san francisco. channel 2news. >> some incredible pictures of a massive water main break-in south san francisco that sent a wall of mud and water flowing down the street threatening homes, cars and people. we have been on the scene all day and tell you what's going on right now. >> reporter: frank this happened in the neighborhood that is right below that south san francisco sign that is in the hills. right behind me you can see this is where the water main break happened. they brought in halfy equip helicopter because they brought in sand and grav el to stabilize the slope. water was spraying every we are but neighbors back in their homes still drying out. you get a view of the water from the chopper shooting nearly a hundred feet in to the

air. >> when that thing blew i tell you, i was grad i was up there. >> looked like a major flood coming down here. >> reporter: the public utilities commission said a 60- inch water main break on elm street. the water gushed down the street. >> must have been 30, 40 miles an hour. all the sudden -- we were right down the middle. >> reporter: firefighters evacuated seven houses, authorities wondered how safe the peoples were and if the first down if the foundation was damaged. >> they had to turn the power off because the power was rising so high. >> reporter: at 10:50 water to the pipeline watts shut off. the break created a huge sink hole and exposed the pipes. here you can see the break-in this 12-inch feeder line. the puc said they were both replace a month ago.

of the suspects. >> reporter: wal-mart has cameras, they had security managing crowds. police had officers in the parking lot when the shooting happened but it wasn't enough to stop the violence hours after those doors opened. paramedics paramedics did what they could for the victim. >> they came in, and jumped him and my -- his cousin all for a radio. >> reporter: purchased just before two this morning for his sister's upcoming birthday. >> victims weren't going to give them up. a fight happened, during the struggle, we believe one of the suspects pulled a gun. many. >> reporter: and shot the victim. he and his cousins caught this man and handed him to police. tony phillips. police took him to the hospital and off to the jail.

he will be charged with attempted homicide. his cousin had a hard time understanding what happened. >> is he the life of the party. he would give his shirt off his back. he would help anybody in need. >> reporter: tonight it's the 21-year-old who needs help. he was shots in the neck and is in critical condition. police aren't releasing the video that caught part of the fight here at wal-mart. they say it's an on going investigation. reporting live. >> in los angeles a woman went into real extremes, using pepper spray on other shoppers to get to the items. video shows the scene inside the wal-mart. police say the crowd was waiting for managers to set out x boxes when the woman started spraying the pepper spray. 20 people including were

children were treated. the woman bought the x box in all the chaos. police hope to identity her from camera video and receipts. >> is it wasn't all mayhem. some were getting in to the holiday spirit with fun and games. >> who has picture of their pet? >> reporter: a store at the great mall had a contest for shoppers, who won coupons for answering quizzes. some customers said they worked out a game plan before arriving at the stores. at sun valley mall some needed a break from all the excitement. sales prices provided irresistible to others. >> there was a growing effort to try to get people to visit smaller independent stores to do their shopping. it's called plaid friday. retailers came up with it three years ago to reflect how local

businesses are part of the fabric of the neighborhood. some say in their opinion it's very important to buy local. >> lot of rents going up, people having a hard time. also a nice atmosphere. >> reporter: and some of those local stores even have discounts to people with flaid clothing. and ahead to the holiday weekend you can visit the website for a list of events in your neighborhood. just click on the holiday weekend link. >> san francisco muni investigating an accident in which a light-rail vehicle hit a pedestrian this morning. they say the person was hit at about 5:00 p.m. in the underground section light-rail station. the victim was taken to the hospital. it took about four hours for them to fully restore service. the persons name and extent of injuries hasn't been released. >> prosecutors in the east bay

say a former youth counselor has pled guilty to producing child porn. he faces up to 30 years. he had worked at the jewel juvenile hall. he said he molested two boys and created porn of the incident. he has been in custody since last november. >> its been more than a week since vallejo police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty. deborah. >> how about with a cup cake? this is the cup cake. you can see the j on top. for each one sold half the money goes to a fund for his family. >> it's chocolate with a mocca cream frosting. republican a sweert with a sweet intention. hundreds of the cup cakes have been sold in just a few days.

the bakery owner moved to do something to help the family of the police officer. gunned down during a foot chase with a bank robbery suspect a week ago. >> is there anything else? >> reporter: he lived in vacaville with his wife and three daughters. >> doesn't feel like it's enough but hopefully people come and support. >> reporter: this is just one business. >> 25%. >> reporter: owners of this restaurant will funnel proceed from monday's night football crowd hoping to see a line out the door like a vacaville burger joint did. >> that's a great human being and it's just -- tragic and anything we can do to help out. >> and hopefully everybody will come out and -- just remember him and talk about him and continue that friend ship and see if we can't do something good. >> we came to support the cup

. back to the top story. the standoff of police and protesters in san francisco on union square. what you have right here is a huge mix of protesters, police and also a lot of holiday shoppers. most are there for the yearly tree lighting. the protesters have been blocking traffic along stockton. they did it at stockton and then moved and again that's

also where thousands are gathering right now for the tree lighting that is set to happen in just just a couple minutes. think want to stop people from buying from the bigger stores. at least so far there have been no arrests. . we will continue to follow this and on the 10:00 news. as temperatures start to drop around the bay area a lot of people need help staying warm. we are station add round the bay area for the one warm coat drive. heather holmes, lloyd is stabbing by. we start with allie. >> reporter: this is just a small fraction of some of the donations we receiveddor. we take a look at the board. some of the members of the daisy troop, out here all day

helping us. look at the hash marks. they counted every coat that was brought in today. for a grand total of 564 coats. if you want to continue to donate your gently used coat we will take them until january 1st. you want to know where to find us, the christmas tree, the donation consider as i said this just a fraction of the coats that were donated. if you look over there the rest of them actiona 564 coats in the back of that truck. city team of oakland is one of the partners, they will get ready to take them away and make sure they get to someone who needs one. we aren't the only site doing the drive. we will send it to -- lloyd i believe. lloyd, that's right -- in san jose. >> reporter: thank you. you know power of television, let me tell you that about an hour ago we did a report and someone saw it and they came down and put us over the mark,

we are now more than 600 bags of coatsor -- 600 coats we have. my two friends here, margaret and janna are helping. over here we have the city team ministry people and they are -- they have a truck. they will load this up and go to help the people who are less fortunate. i also want to put in a note about people that -- the generous people. these are brand new coats. someone came and bought them and donated them here for the one warm coat drive. you know it doesn't end today. you can still continue through the 1st of january and now let's go to my colleague heather holmes. >> reporter: all i can say is wow. bay area you have been so generous. it has been just incredible. all the girl scouts here will start bagging all of these coats up. one of them is here and casey

bargin on monday. stocks fell on light trading on wall street. they are jittery over soaring costs for european debt. nasdaq ended down by 18. >> the supermarket on telegraph avenue is closing. the company released the news in a statement. this after the main closed its university avenue store last month. there are now five remaining stores including two in berkeley. the 82-year-old chain filed in august. >> the officials are warning about a mountain lion in pacifica. the big cat was seen walk agriculture long the trail in the park about go miles the park's entrance. the mountain lions normally avoid humans but if you see one don't approach it. >> we had stubborn low clouds,

higher above parts of the bay area but the key weather headline the -- a rain free forecast in the next few days but a chance of spotty drizzle, not a lot to show you on the tracker. a little bit of activity on the radar. nothing major but a few sprinkles or pockets pushing back in to the bay over the next few hours. no significant rainfall at least showing up on the long range. this was the scene today looking out toward san francisco bay. you can see all the cloud cover out there and we have had another big high tide tomorrow morning so maybe some minor flooding. that high tide coming up at about 11:30. concern. areas of dense fog for the north bay and east bay. visibilities tomorrow could come down to about a quarter mile. this is for saturday morning, possibly into sunday morning as well.

overnight lows tomorrow morning on the cool side, upper 30s for santa rosa, napa and san francisco into the upper 40s and san jose at 43. high pressure continues to expand and build and as a result of storm track the jet stream heading to the north and as a result the storms heading in that direction as well. so a dry weather pattern this weekend. this will be the theme with the morning fog. skies becoming partly cloudy and temperatures warming up into saturday and sunday. by sunday the warmest locations could be in the upper 60's. here is the fog forecast model and this is an update offer the past hour. you can see it's expanding. this is a dense fog. could move into solano. it'll impact the visibility. first thing tomorrow and then into the afternoon. few lie clouds by mid to late afternoon. that's all in the forecast throughout the day. temperatures on track most of the area warming back newspaper to the at least the low to
