terrible some of it is around zero and it is thick fog everywhere not just west or east. temperatures are around 60s but if not you will be stuck in low 50s here is tara. folks headed towards the mcarthur maze, we have a fog advisory as well as for other spans and we will let you know about those coming up. san mateo, there is no fog advisory and you can see just how low the visibility is and this is expected to last until 9:00 this morning. 6:01, we will head out to oakland with more on this fog and it is really hard to see, isn't it paul? >> reporter: take a look, it is heavy in some areas and this is the coliseum parking lot and in fact it is harder to see in that area but where it is a little bit lighter we can see interstate 880.

they have issued a dense fog advisory until 9:00 this morning. chp is alerting drivers about dense fog advisory conditions for the martinez bridge and within the hour another fog advisory was issued for the dumbarton bridge. from san ramon moan, visibility is less than a quarter mile with near zero visibility at sometimes in some areas. fog advisories also issued in san mateo county near road wood city and -- red wood city and visibility is only 10 to 15 feet. chp asks drivers to slow down so you can have a safe trip into work. paul chambers ktvu channel 2

news. >> -- coast guard is still searching for a missing paddle boater near half-moon bay. the missing man is identified as mr. ruiz in his 30s he never came back to shore after paddling out to the ocean. a large motor boat are being used in that coast guard search. well a 19-year-old marine killed in afghanistan will be honored this morning. live in pittsburgh with who is stepping up to pay tribute to this fallen marine. >> reporter: starbucks sets the highway forwards a first run and they will have at least one other this morning. their mission is welcoming home a fallen marine from danville and most of the marines are active service members, retired from the military and/or active first responders. the family of josh coral will

it is not clear what led up to the stabbing but police say their injuries are not life- threatening and no arrests have been made. we have some problems and a lot of it has to do with very thick fog. >> that fog is not expected to burn off until 9:00 this morning and a couple of things we want to talk about, southbound one of the lanes and in daily city near john daily a traffic hazard in one of the lanes there. this is right near the mcarthur maze, traffic is flowing well in all directions and we have a fog advisory at the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see there is a little bit of backup, we do expect those metering lights to be going off shortly. this is a look at the san mateo bridge, there is no fog advisory and there is one issued for the dumbarton. be aware, definitely take it slowly because a lot of these

the residents were cooking french fries. six apartments were destroyed, the management at the complex is providing temporary housing for displaced residents. well an effort to save a 90- year-old bridge in sonoma county is growing. they want to upgrade the memorial bridge over the russian river but cal trans has not approved the 12 million needed for the project. they are now asking congressional representatives for help. they say it does not meet modern standards and is not functional. opponents say they may file a lawsuit over the report because of pollution concerns over cruise ships. allowing electrical to be turned off can release tons of pollution into the air. port officials say those concerns will be addressed in

the report. time no 6:16, they say the fleet could have bad consequences for wildlife and their habitats. according to the fish and game, that department will lose 527 vehicles. some of those vehicles are used to prepare and preserve wildlife habitats as well as enforcing laws and oil spill prevention. that program is an attempt to help budget california's budget. they are enjoying a surge in the monarch butterflies and you are looking at the historic farm. this is one of the locations the butterflies migrate to and this year almost 4200 have been counted. you can also see the

butterflies at san leandro's shoreline and also in richmond. 6:17 is the time, you may not know how foggy it is outside but tara will show us. we have fog on the dumbarton and add the san mateo bridge to the list of extremely foggy bridges. at the bay bridge toll plaza, lots of back up and you can kind of see at the bottom portion of your screen, there is a bunch am people there and we do expect those lights to be going on shortly. it does look foggy again because fog is creeping in but traffic is moving nicely as you make your way to the mcarthur maze. not only do we have fog but there is also a lot of drizzle

out there. if you want to call it rain you can. it does not show up on radar. it is so low so the radar goes right over it. dense fog advisory, quarter mile less, although they were socked in and all of a sudden it was gone. it does dance around and you can go from fog to thick fog and no fog at all. 40s for temperatures here, everyone is not going to change much because of the cloud cover son so it is going to be a cloudy day. hazy skies morning fog local drizzle, they were 51 yesterday. you can't get out of that fog, it is just too cold. wednesday and thursday look very windy and that will get rid of the fog but that will cause other problems.

november 28th i am dave clark. >> it's now 6:30, highway patrol says be very careful driving this morning, a lot of dense fog on many bay area bridges and roads. paul chambers is in oakland this morning, there is still fog out there, paul, i am there? >> reporter: the interesting thing about fog is that it rolls in and rolls out. it is dense here and we take a look at the coliseum parking lot, fog is heavy in that area, now we come over here to interstate 880, it is a little bit better, and the national weather service has issued a dense fog advisory until 9:00 and chp is issuing alertels for

drivers. and it is still in effect at this hour. a dense fog alert was issued for the dumbarton bridge and also the san mateo and we were reporting from san ramon according to the in areas, visibility is at zero at sometimes. and there is a heavy fog alert for interstate 280 near red wood city. chp said visibility is limited from 10 to 15 feet and you can expect heavy fog from newark and mountain view. as you hit the roads, slow down, use your headlights and leave yourself plenty of stopping distance, live in oakland ktvu channel 2 news. that fog is also expected to cause delays at bay area airports this morning and we

they decided to use that because of violence and students and faculty have been angry over tuition hikes and other budget cuts. the 19-year-old killed in serving afghanistan will be honored early this morning. we will go to danville for details on the planned tribute for -- planned tribute for joshua coral. public service will be held at 11:00 a.m. wednesday at the vallejo high school football field on nebraska avenue. the father of three was shot and killed lent days ago while chasing a suspected bang officer. he was the 4th killed in the line of duty in that city's 100 year history. there is a lot due back this

afternoon. when are albert smith will ask a judge to ban courtrooms in this case. he was arrested just hours after the officer's fatal shooting. channel 2 reporter allie rasmus is at the building with more on what is being torn down, allie? >> reporter: well, pam. whole process is supposed to get going, right now we don't see any construction crews or a demolition. you can see it is parked between haste and channel. that section is still locked up and this is the apartment building. 68 people who lived here were displaced and nobody was hurt. the cause is still under investigation and the owner of the building tells us this place was built back in 1916.

the damage from the fire was so bad that it was structurally unsound. the fear that even a minor earthquake can bring it down, but the fire chief said it will be a partial demolition. right now it is getting a little bit lighter and i don't know if we can tempt to the 4th floor. you can see guys. down at the group floor, the building owners reportedly want to keep that ground floor intact and again this whole process is supposed to take about a week. some of the displaced residents from this apartment building don't want the demolition to happen just yet for a couple of reasons and we will explain

why, allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 news. three homeless shelters are opening in the south bay. the cold weather program begins at 6:00 tonight. the shelters will provide 365 emergency beds every night through the end of march. it is set up in sunny veil and gilroy and the recard dough exception bay. it will be served for people on first come first service. from 6:00 p.m. wednesday to 11:59 saturday 1300 drunk drivers were arrested and traffic deaths nearly doubled. 22 people were killed this year compared to 12 in 2010 and two
